6 Palos Hospital is pleased to offer Room Service Dining to our patients. Meals can be ordered at your convenience by calling extension Meals are prepared fresh and delivered to your room within one hour of your call. How to Order Review the menu. Once you have made your selections, call our nutrition representatives at extension 4130 to place your order. Our staff will assist you with menu selections allowed by your physician s diet prescription. You can schedule a meal time or have your meal delivered within one hour of your call. Our Room Service menu is available at paloshealth.com/menu. Family members may place an order on your behalf by calling Special Dietary Concerns If you are on a prescribed restricted diet or have scheduled tests, your food selection may be limited. Our nutrition representative will assist you with making selections appropriate for your needs. Your nurse will be able to inform you if your physician has placed you on a restricted or modified diet. Limitations In our effort to promote a healthy lifestyle and speed your recovery, the quantity of items that can be selected with each meal may be limited. A hospitality agent will be happy to assist you with menu choices and discuss these limits with you. A Well-Balanced Diet A healthy diet is comprised of five essential food groups: Fruits, Vegetables, Grains, Protein and Dairy (including plant-based options). Focus on whole fruits and select 100% fruit juice when choosing juices. Buy frozen fruits that are dried, canned, or fresh so that you can always have a supply on hand. Eat a variety of vegetables. Add them to dishes like casseroles, sandwiches, and wraps. Fresh, frozen and canned count, too. Look for reduced sodium or no-salt-added on the label. Choose whole-grain version of common foods such as bread, pasta and tortillas. Not sure if it s whole grain? Check the ingredients for the words whole or whole grain. Eat a variety of protein foods such as beans, soy, seafood, lean meats, poultry, and unsalted nuts and seeds. Select seafood twice a week. Choose lean cuts of meat. Choose low-fat (1%) or fat-free (skim) dairy, which has the same amount of calcium and other nutrients as whole milk, but with less calories and saturated fat. Lactose intolerant? Try lactose-free milk or non-dairy milk beverages and yogurts. Our Commitment to You Palos Hospital Nutrition and Food Service is always willing to help with your nutritional needs. A registered dietitian is available to assist you with your diet and nutrition-related questions. Our goal is to provide you with healthy meals that will bring you enjoyment, comfort and familiarity. Please let us know if we are not exceeding your expectations.
