Entrée choices are Yankee Pot Roast, Chicken Almondine, Filet of Sole, all served with mashed potatoes and vegetables or the Cobb Salad. All entrees are served with a nonalcoholic beverage, rolls and a dessert. After lunch, we will drive over to the Camelot Theatre for a 1:30 p.m. matinee performance of : New York, New York What a Wonderful Town. A musical tribute to four home-grown New York legends; Tony Bennett, Bette Midler, Barbara Streisand, and Bobby Darin. This is a 90-minute live performance! Japanese American National Museum Tue., Mar. 13, 2018 Fee: $17.00 Leave: 10:00 a.m. Return: 4:00 p.m. We will arrive in L.A. at the Japanese National Museum for our tour which begins at 11 am. Upon arrival the group will be broken up into smaller groups and you will have a 1-hr docent led tour. The museum celebrates the triumph of democracy over discrimination and features WWI and on the grounds is a tranquil water and stone garden. There will be extra time on your own after tour. Everyone is on their own for lunch and browsing in Little Tokyo. Museum of Flying in Santa Monica Fri., Jun. 29, 2018 Fee: $50.00 Leave: 8:45 a.m. Return: 4:00 p.m. We will arrive at the Museum of Flying located at the Santa Monica Airport. This docent led tour lasts approximately 90 minutes. The museum features 2 dozen aircrafts chronicling the beginning of flight along with a replica of the Wright Flyer. There is also hands-on interactive displays, a screening room on the mezzanine level and much more! You ll also get to explore the outdoor aircraft plaza (weather permitting). We will depart at Noon for our lunch stop at the Proud Bird restaurant. Upon arrival at 12:30 p.m., you ll receive your Boarding Pass to enter the Food Bazaar which consists of Asian, Italian, Latin, American & BBQ cuisines. This is an all-you-can-eat event that includes a non-alcoholic beverage. We will depart at 2 p.m. to return home. Wear comfortable shoes!!! Please don t delay in purchasing your day trip ckets. You will have a choice of Poached Salmon with lemon caper sauce served with jasmine rice and steamed veggies, of a Yankee Pot Roast with gravy and mashed potatoes and steamed veggies, a chicken breast with sautéed mushrooms & artichoke hearts with mashed potatoes and steamed veggies or a vegetarian pasta in cream sauce. All entrees come with a dinner salad with house dressing, fresh bread & butter, coffee, tea or soda, and a dessert. After dinner, we will arrive at the Balboa Pavilion for a 90-minute harbor cruise. Bring your camera, a warm sweater, and something hot to drink. Get a good look from all sides as we drift away for some solo exploration of the Newport harbor and it s decorated homes and yachts. We will return home after the cruise.

Guide Dogs of America Tour & Lunch at the Bear Pit BBQ Restaurant Thu., Sep. 21 Fee: $34.00 Leave: 8:30 a.m. Return: 5:30 p.m. We arrive at the Guide Dogs of America Facility in Sylmar for a guided walking tour which includes the breeding program, puppy raising, and guide dog program. Tours last up to 90 minutes. Next, we ll have lunch at the Bear Pit BBQ Restaurant. You ll have a choice of beef, pork, ham, or turkey sandwich on garlic toast, served with BBQ beans and a non-alcoholic beverage. Our last stop will be at the Nethercutt Collection for a 1:30 pm, 2- hour guided tour. Your tour will include the collection of vintage, black iron and classic automobiles displayed on the Lower and Grand Salon Showrooms and walk through the 1937 Canadian Pacific Royal Hudson Locomotive and a 1912 Pullman Private Car. Where once underway you will enjoy a full 3- course lunch (included) on your Heritage Valley tour into downtown Santa Paula. Menu: Chef s specialty orange glazed chicken breast with rice pilaf, vegetables, roll & butter served with coffee, tea, or soda. Once you arrive in Santa Paula, a docent will meet you off the train for a guided walking tour of the California Oil Museum and the Ventura County Agriculture Museum that are all located at the Railroad Plaza. You will then board the train for a 10 minute ride to the Loose Caboose Garden Center & Gift Emporium where you will find a variety of unique collectables. There is a large selection of locally produced honey products from the Bennett s Honey Farm, koi ponds, pottery, fresh produce and more. Then we will get back on the train and head back to the Fillmore depot and your dessert and coffee will be served to enjoy on the way back. Register early! AARP Driver Safety Program ~4 hour Course Wed., Nov. 8 9:00 am 1:00 pm Cost: $15 AARP Members $20 Non-members The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation s first and largest classroom course, designed especially for drivers ages 50 and older. However, the course is open to licensed drivers of all ages. Course completion helps older drivers refine existing skills and develop safe driving strategies in today s challenging driving environment. There are no tests required. You may also be able to receive a premium discount from your auto insurance company, after completing the AARP safety driving course. Pre-registration is required. She comes in on Tuesdays, after her shift at the Library (across the street) to help us in the dining room and kitchen. She checks the water cups, cream and sugar to make sure everything is refilled and looks neat. At lunch time, she helps by serving lunch to our seniors. After lunch, she meets with a few seniors who are studying for their citizen s test and helps them prepare for it. Elva has two wonderful children who are now in college and instills in them the gratification of serving in their community and those around them. She is a wonderful lady! Thank you very much Elva. Diabetes Roundtable! Thursday, September 21 10:00 a.m. These meetings offer both preventative and important information on this controllable disease. This is a good time to ask any questions that you might have. 5 It s illegal to throw used syringes in the trash, yard waste barrels, recycling or compost bins NO COST for containers (2 per pick up) Remember, proof of residency and proof of necessity such as prescription is required in order to get a free container. Drop off box located in front of Azusa Senior Center. Residents can also deposit any rigid sealed containers such as soda bottles up to 2-liter in size. Volunteer Drivers Needed Do you have some extra time to spare? Are you a good driver? The Azusa Senior Center has a great volunteer opportunity for you!
