During the Christmas season the museum features a special exhibit called Christmas Around the World. More than 20 different decorated trees that represent a special time or place for the Reagan s. You will have time to tour on your own or join in on one of the hourly tours and view all of the wonderful sites the Getty Villa has to offer. The Getty Villa houses the J. Paul Getty Museum s collection of approximately 44,000 Greek, Roman, and Etrusan antiquities. Everyone will also have a boxed lunch today. They will be freshly prepared and ready at 11:45 am. Your lunch will include a roasted turkey breast sandwich with Monterey Jack cheese, crisp greens and tomato relish on a rustic herb bread. Chips, cookie, and bottled water are included. AARP Driver Safety Program ~8 hour Refresher Course Mon., Sep. 19 & Wed., Sep 21 8:30 am 12:30 pm Cost: $15 AARP Members $20 Non-members The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation s first and largest classroom course, designed especially for drivers ages 50 and older. However, the course is open to licensed drivers of all ages. Course completion helps older drivers refine existing skills and develop safe driving strategies in today s challenging driving environment. There are no tests required. You may also be able to receive a premium discount from your auto insurance company, after completing the AARP safety driving course. Pre-registration is required. She comes in 2 times a week to help in the kitchen. She and Mary did a great job the month we had 2 of our volunteers on vacation for a month. Since then, she s committed herself to 2 days in the kitchen and during one of those days, she also helps delivers home delivered meals. Carmen is a woman who is dedicated to service and helping others. She helps with her grandchildren, helps at St. Francis church, and volunteers at our center. I would say she manages her time very well! Carmen is an excellent baker and she s made some of the best banana bread I ve tasted. Carmen, thanks again, for all your help and caring of our seniors. We sure do appreciate you! VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH Diabetes Roundtable! Thursday, Sep. 15th 10:00 a.m. These meetings offer both preventative and important information on this controllable disease. This is a good time to ask any questions that you might have. 5 It s illegal to throw used syringes in the trash, yard waste barrels, recycling or compost bins NO COST for containers (2 per pick up) Remember, proof of residency and proof of necessity such as prescription is required in order to get a free container. Drop off box located in front of Azusa Senior Center. Residents can also deposit any rigid sealed containers such as soda bottles up to 2-liter in size. Arlinda Zamora Arlinda Zamora is one of our newest volunteers to take on the rewarding volunteer position of Home Delivered Meal Driver. This position requires a great personality, dedication, loving heart, and joyful spirit ~ all of which Arlinda has an abundance of. She is such an asset to our senior center. Arlinda thoroughly enjoys the time she spend delivering to our homebound seniors in Azusa and cheering them up with her smiles and kind words. She has 5 grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren whom she loves. She served as a loyal secretary and retired about 4 years ago. Arlinda has a great love of travelwe are very happy to have Arlinda on our team of volunteers. Thank you for everything you do! 9

Call (626) Advance reservations are forfeited at 11:45 am. Late arrivals will be added to the waiting list. If you make a reservation for a Monday, be sure to check in before 11:15 or you will forfeit your lunch reservation. All adults 60 years and older and their spouses are welcome to have lunch. The suggested donation is $2.00 per meal. Guests years shall pay $3.00 per meal. This program is funded in part through Title III of the Older Americans Act as amended by the County of Los Angeles Area Agency on Aging. All meals are served with milk, bread and margarine. Transportation is available to Azusa residents from Azusa Dial-a-Ride.
