12 San Carlo s was originally one of the largest dairy barns in the York area and is now considered to be approximately 200 years old. In the late 1940 s the barn was transformed into an antique shop where various antiques were bought and sold. In 1962 the barn was completely remodeled into a restaurant. Through the years the cocktail lounge and banquet rooms were added using approximately 10 tons of beams and siding from 3 original York County barns. In 1969 with the building of the Rt. 30 by-pass approximately 1/3 of the south end of the barn was removed. The only original portion remaining is the main dining room enhanced with it s original field stone walls. Everything has been done to maintain the originality of this historic barn. We invite you to wander through our establishment taking notice to the many hand hewn beams and pegged ceilings.
