3 OCTOBER 29, 2014 CATCH THE SPIRIT edition #11 WEEKLY UPDATE DRIVE THRU PRAYER - The Parish is looking for volunteers to help pray for people from Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the green porch of the school building facing the parking lot. No experience necessary. If interested please contact the Parish. HALLOWEEN CANDY - Each child is asked to bring in a large bag of individually wrapped candy or prizes and toys on Thursday, October 30 to be used at the Halloween games in the gym on Friday. This is a separate candy donation from any candy used for Trunk or Treat. Please refer to the Safe Snack Guide for candy that is safe and nut free. Processed near nuts is not allowed for Halloween. The Safe Snack Guide is available on the front of the school website or at pages pertain to candy TRUNK OR TREAT - If you would like to participate in Trunk or Treat on Friday, please park in the preschool parking lot between 10:15 and 10:25am, and be ready to pass out nut-free candy to 330 students from your decorated trunk. If it is raining, parents can set up in the gym and the lobby for the treating experience. BIRTHDAYS - Your child may have a non-uniform day on his/her birthday. Please check with the classroom teacher to make sure it is appropriate for that day. No non-uniform days on Mass days, field trip days, or other special events. If you are bringing in a small treat for the class, please get that approved by the classroom teacher too. We are not doing lunches for the class for birthdays. Thank you for supporting this new policy. DRAWING CONTEST- Students (grades K-12) draw a picture of being and living healthy. Is it riding a bike? Hiking? Laughing with your family? Submit your picture to the Church Office by All Saints Day, Nov. 1st. Drawings must be your original artwork and no larger than 8 x11. Winner will be announced on Nov. 4th, Feast of St. Charles Borromeo, patron of learning and the arts. Artwork will be displayed around the campus and the winner will receive a feature in the Sunday Bulletin and a gift card to the arts & crafts store. When submitting your artwork be sure to include your name, grade and contact info for your parents. FAITH FORMATION RAFFLE & PASTA FEED - Come join the Faith Formation Office on Sun. Nov. 16th for a Pasta Feed. This is a fundraiser to help support the catechists formation at the 2015 LA Religious Congress. They will be raffling off a 65 LED TV, Smart TV, Smart Wireless Keyboard, 3D Glasses, Multi Link Screen and Voice Interaction. Raffle tickets are available at the school office for $10. FLYER ATTACHED CASH FOR CLASS - Start shopping and saving those receipts! The Fremont Hub's Cash for Class program has started again. The Fremont Hub also has over 15 stores that we can receive TRIPLE POINTS from! Please remember to turn in your receipts often, they will not be accepted after 90 days from the purchase date. There are many ways to learn more about our school and what it has to offer your child. Check out our school website to learn more about this year s school theme of FROG - Fully Rely On God. Come learn about our full-day Kindergarten program at the Kindergarten Information Night on Monday, November 17 at 7pm in the Kindergarten classroom in the back of the Small Hall. Applications for Kindergarten for the school year will be available at the Information Night. We open at 7:30am in Small Hall. Hot Chocolate is only $1.50. You may choose from various toppings such as marshmallows, whipped cream, Ghirardelli chocolate & caramel sauce, and sprinkles! Just a friendly reminder that there are two lines: a purchase line (located by the door) and a pick up line (located by the kitchen. Bypass the pay line and get a stamp/punch card available at the café or in the school office for purchase in the amount of $15.00 (10 drinks). We will also have snacks to choose from for purchase based on parent donations. We'd also love some parent volunteers. Donations are greatly appreciated. One parent hour may be earned for each $25.00 donation/supplies/store bought items (unlimited) or 1/2 hour per dozen home baked treats (maximum 2 dozen/ week please!). Store bought treats should be accompanied with a receipt. Parent hours will be calculated on the amount spent. Treats must arrive before 7:15am in Small Hall on Friday. Attire is casual! As you know, Sopas De Carne kicks off our Holy Spirit Festival season. This tradition of offering a complimentary meal to 400 guests is made possible by your support and generous donations.
