8 Yogurt Substitute a low-fat or fat-free Greek yogurt for sour cream in dip recipes. Yogurt can also be substituted for whipping cream as a topping on pies or other desserts. When substituting with yogurt, substitute at a 1:1 ratio. If your recipe calls for 1 cup of sour cream, substitute with 1 cup yogurt.
