1 Bremen Elementary-Middle School Parent Bulletin February 2, 2018 Mutual Respect Caring School Community Great Expectations FRESHMAN ORIENTATION TESTING DATES COMING ISTEP testing will take place during the window from Feb. 26th through March 9th. IREAD for 3rd grade will be from March 12-16th. Please try to avoid these dates when scheduling appointments. Thanks for your cooperation! The Parent/Student Orientation Program for 8 th graders entering High School is on Tuesday, February 6 th, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the Bowen Auditorium. Various High School Teachers as well as representatives from the Elkhart Area Career Center will be available before orientation from 6:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. for a meet and greet and to answer any questions. Home-schooled and Lutheran School students are welcome to attend these orientation activities. The scheduling process will begin the following week. Students will have the opportunity to discuss their freshman schedules and 4-year plans with The Guidance Office. Parents are also welcome to request a meeting. If there are any questions, please call the Bremen High School Guidance Office at ext between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. CHEER CLINIC The High School Cheerleaders are hosting their annual K-5 cheer clinic! Practices will be held Monday 2/12, Tuesday 2/13 and Thursday 2/15 all 6:00-7:30 p.m. Participants will perform at half time of the boy s JV basketball game on Friday 2/16. More information and registration forms will be available in the elementary office. Register by 2/8 to ensure a t-shirt! Our Classroom Community Online! What a wonderful community of learners we have in our classroom this year! I m so excited to help our students learn and grow. It amazes me when I am able to teach children as young as 5 years old to code on the ipads. The Ozobots will surely increase the interest in coding and spark wonder in so many more. I have registered our classroom on DonorsChoose.org, an amazing website where individuals can contribute to public schools. Throughout the year, I will post requests for resources that will help make your child s time at school even more engaging, dynamic, and enriching. When my students receive access to the Ozobots to program, they will be able to see their program skills come to life in these miniature robots. Having access to the Ozobots will open up new worlds and opportunities for them to explore. Please spread the word about our classroom page (and contribute if you can)! Check out our Facebook pages: Bremen T-ball League Bremen Girls Recreational Softball League BROCK MEISTER FUNDRAISER On the night of Jan. 12th, a special member of the Bremen community, Brock Meister, was injured in a car accident. Brock is the son of Travis and Jenna Meister and a 2015 graduate of BHS. Brock was severely injured in the accident, but true to his character, he is a fighter and is once again beating the odds. Many people in the community are familiar with Brock and his fight against cancer five years ago. He is truly a miracle. On Thursday, February 8th, from open to close (11:00 am-11:00 pm) at the Erskine Plaza Hacienda, there will be a Give Back Night for the Meister family. Please come if you can and show a coupon. Coupons are available in the high school office, the middle school office, and at Woodies. One is also attached to today s bulletin. You can also show a digital copy of the coupon. BREMEN LITTLE LEAGUE SIGN UP 2018 Bremen Youth Baseball Registration is now open! Sign Up Early and Save Money! Register online at The early registration price is $45 through the end of the day on Feb. 20th. After February 20th, the price increases to $60. Registration ends on March 3rd.
