AZUSA SENIOR CENTER DAY TRIPS 10 Japanese American National Museum Tue., Mar. 13, 2018 Fee: $17.00 Leave: 10:00 a.m. Return: 4:00 p.m. We will arrive in L.A. at the Japanese National Museum for our tour which begins at 11 am. Upon arrival the group will be broken up into smaller groups and you will have a 1-hr docent led tour. The museum celebrates the triumph of democracy over discrimination and features WWI and on the grounds is a tranquil water and stone garden. There will be extra time on your own after tour. We would hate for you to miss out on the fun! 11 Museum of Flying in Santa Monica Fri., Jun. 29, 2018 Fee: $50.00 Leave: 8:45 a.m. Return: 4:00 p.m. We will arrive at the Museum of Flying located at the Santa Monica Airport. This docent led tour lasts approximately 90 minutes. The museum features 2 dozen aircrafts chronicling the beginning of flight along with a replica of the Wright Flyer. There is also hands-on interactive displays, a screening room on the mezzanine level and much more! You ll also get to explore the outdoor aircraft plaza (weather permitting). We will depart at Noon for our lunch stop at the Proud Bird restaurant. Upon arrival at 12:30 p.m., you ll receive your Boarding Pass to enter the Food Bazaar which consists of Asian, Italian, Latin, American & BBQ cuisines. However, the course is open to licensed drivers of all ages. Course completion helps older drivers refine existing skills and develop safe driving strategies in today s challenging driving environment. There are no tests required. You may also be able to receive a premium discount from your auto insurance company, after completing the AARP safety driving course. Pre-registration is required. Please register at the senior center front desk. Alberto Flores Alberto is a very helpful and conscientious volunteer. He takes time out of his day to make sure all the tables are clear after lunch which is a very important job. Alberto enjoys coming to the Azusa Senior Center and he often participates in our special events. Alberto helps to make sure our volunteers log in with their volunteer hours. He has met many friends here and we are so very happy to have his help. Thanks, Alberto. Diabetes Roundtable! Thursday, January 18 10:00 a.m. These meetings offer both preventative and important information on this controllable disease. This is a good time to ask any questions that you might have. 5 It s illegal to throw used syringes in the trash, yard waste barrels, recycling or compost bins NO COST for containers (2 per pick up) Remember, proof of residency and proof of necessity such as prescription is required in order to get a free container. Drop off box located in front of Azusa Senior Center. Residents can also deposit any rigid sealed containers such as soda bottles up to 2-liter in size. Volunteer Drivers Needed Do you have some extra time to spare? Are you a good driver? The Azusa Senior Center has a great volunteer opportunity for you!
