Please note: Lunch is not included in the ticket price. 11 Spend the Day in Oxnard/ Port Hueneme Thu., Jun 22 Fee: $30.00 Leave: 8:00 a.m. Return: 4:30 p.m. Today s adventure takes us into the small beach city in Ventura County s Oxnard area called Port Hueneme. You will arrive by 9:45 a.m. at the Port Hueneme base for a tour of the Seabee Museum. The museum features present models of equipment and the battle scenes, weapons, uniforms, and arts & crafts by and about the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps and Seabees. After our visit we drive into Oxnard for lunch (included) at the the Pirates Bar & Grill. Todays lunch will be a Mexican style buffet that will include Cheese Enchiladas, Beef Fajitas with tortillas, Green Salad, Chips Salsa, Beans & Rice and a non-alcoholic beverage. Our last stop today will be in Camarillo at the WWII Aviation Museum, admission included. Among the vintage aircraft on display include: B-52, a Navy F5F Hellcat, a Japanese Zero, and a British Spitfire. This is a docent led tour by a retired military officer. AARP Driver Safety Program ~8 hour Course Mon., Feb. 6 and Wed., Feb. 8 9:00 am 1:00 pm Cost: $15 AARP Members $20 Non-members The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation s first and largest classroom course, designed especially for drivers ages 50 and older. However, the course is open to licensed drivers of all ages. Course completion helps older drivers refine existing skills and develop safe driving strategies in today s challenging driving environment. There are no tests required. You may also be able to receive a premium discount from your auto insurance company, after completing the AARP safety driving course. Pre-registration is required. They are both fine volunteers. Eladia has been coming to our center many, many years. She also has lived in Azusa many years. She is very helpful to our center during bulleting delivery time. Every month a new bulletin is printed, and thus begins the process of gathering the pages in their proper order, stapling them and folding them. Eladia does a good job and takes pride in what she does. She also takes pride in the food she cooks from delicious salsa, tamales and burritos. Marco is a lucky man. But we are lucky too, because we have her at our center! Thank you, Eladia VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH Diabetes Roundtable! Thursday, Feb :00 a.m. These meetings offer both preventative and important information on this controllable disease. This is a good time to ask any questions that you might have. 5 It s illegal to throw used syringes in the trash, yard waste barrels, recycling or compost bins NO COST for containers (2 per pick up) Remember, proof of residency and proof of necessity such as prescription is required in order to get a free container. Drop off box located in front of Azusa Senior Center. Residents can also deposit any rigid sealed containers such as soda bottles up to 2-liter in size. Marco Cauich Marco is a gentleman, first of all. He is a very helpful and thoughtful volunteer. He helps at our center by registering our guests for lunch. When we need a substitute at the registration desk, he s most willing to help out. Marco is mild mannered and has a lot of patience, and this makes him a perfect fit for the registration desk. He not only helps at the registration desk but will help in the kitchen when needed. He ll say, put me where you need me, it doesn t matter. He does matter to us a great deal and our beautiful center and we are happy to have him. Thanks so much, Marco. 9

The suggested donation is $2.00 per meal. Guests years shall pay $3.00 per meal. This program is funded in part through Title III of the Older Americans Act as amended by the County of Los Angeles Area Agency on Aging. All meals are served with milk, bread and margarine.
