1 Patriot Times Red, White, & News! VOLUME 9, ISSUE 3 S EPTEMBER 6, 2018 Fundraiser Kickoff The annual schoolwide fundraiser has started! An exciting kickoff event occurred on August 30th, in the school gym. What our students do is sell cookie dough and magazines to family, neighbors, and friends. The sales will raise money for our class trips and other school needs. Our goal is to raise $15,000. The fundraiser continues until September 17th, when the money and order forms are due. Students will be rewarded with some fantastic prizes. If a student sells six items, then they get to get out of class early and go to the Fall Funfest, which is a concert! If you sell 12 items, then you get a VIP seating at the concert, and you get a swag bag! VIP seating means you can bring a friend along with you, and you also receive the band s autographs. If you sell 20 items, you get a retro TV smartphone projector! If you sell 35 items you get Hypergear Bluetooth earbuds/microphone. The biggest reward if you sell 50 or more items, you get two Body Bubble Balls. So get out there and sell some cookie dough!
2 P ATRIOT TIMES P AGE 2 Around the School by Avery Lambert and Morgan Robinson New Question: Where can you find a bus ticket that says My positive energy is greater than anyone's doubt? Congratulations to Chance Mayfield for correctly guessing last week s question. The golden apple is on a poster by the downstairs elevator. If you know the answer, then write it and your name on a piece of paper and put it in the Around the School box at the library circulation desk. One correct answer will be chosen. We may print that student s picture in the next issue, and the student will win a prize. Ask Phoebe Dear Phoebe, Why can t we use our cell phones in school? I would be willing to only use it during lunch and between classes. Dear Frustrated Phoner, Frustrated Phoner You may be able to handle the responsibility of being able to carry your cell phone around, but other students wouldn't be able to handle that responsibility. In any case, you wouldn't be able to change the minds of the administration. You should enjoy your time without a phone. Sincerely, Phoebe

Facts About Cookies by Avery Lambert and Morgan Robinson If you take fresh cookies and put them in a refrigerator for 24 to 36 hours, it brings out the flavor. Chocolate chips were made specifically for cookies. There is a cookie museum in Singapore with over 400 kinds of cookies. In 1902, the animal cracker was the first commercial cookie in the U.S. Americans consume about 2 billion cookies each year, which averages to be about 300 cookies a year each. The library in RLBMS is giving out free cookie bookmarks. Cookie monsters cookies are actually rice cakes with brown painted on it.
