6 Microwave Cooking... Then and Now Until today, you ve probably been using your microwave oven primarily for heating up leftovers, thawing frozen foods or making popcorn. Well... that s about to change. Working closely with culinary technicians and designers, Chef Tony TM has developed the TastiWave TM Cooking System... a revolutionary breakthrough in microwave food preparation. Using the compact TastiWave TM components and Chef Tony s recipes, prepare all your favorite foods in a fraction of the time it would take using conventional methods. At the heart of the TastiWave TM Cooking System, is the base unit with it s Cyrotech heating disk. This component captures microwaves and can achieve cooking temperatures in excess of 450 F, so you can bake, fry, sear, grill, steam and roast any food, any time, fresh or frozen, right in your microwave. Plus, your food will be moist, tender and delicious every time--that s the TastiWave TM cookware guarantee. Your food will taste and look like it was cooked on a stovetop or oven, but in a fraction of the time with much more the flavor! All TastiWave TM pans are nonstick, so you can use less oil to make hassle-free, healthy, and heart smart meals. Also, with the exception of the base unit, the pans are dishwasher safe so clean up is a breeze. So whether you cook for two or twenty-two,tastiwave TM cookware delivers the impossible great, tasty, homemade meals right from your microwave! Timing Is Everything... A Word About Wattage Similar to conventional cooking, the Wattage of your microwave might be compared to the Height of the flame. The higher the wattage the hotter the cooking environment... wattage determines the time needed to complete the process. Therefore, it is critical to determine the wattage of your microwave oven. Most microwaves have a label or small plate that states the wattage. Your microwave s instruction manual should also list the wattage. You may also contact the manufacturer or retailer for this information. The recipes in this booklet have been written for an 1100 Watt microwave oven. Please adjust your cook times accordingly. Your Microwave must have a revolving carousel and the interior must measure 14 wide x 14 deep x 4

7 Getting After you ve reviewed all the information in this Instruction Manual, you ll be ready to try some of the quick and easy recipes that will familiarize you with the set up and operation of the TastiWave TM Cooking System. Remember, for health reasons, great care should be taken to make certain that all food is cooked properly. I recommend the use of a good meat thermometer and suggest that you refer to the temperature guide included on the next page. ChefTony 5

9 Chef Tony s Tips N Hints Before First Use*... Before making the first meal in your TastiWave TM Cooking System, be sure to wash all pans with warm soapy water and a soft, non-abrasive sponge to assure clean, safe cooking. Prior to using your grill and griddle pans for the first time it s important to activate the nonstick surface. 1. Place each pan in cooking base. Place the base with the pan in the microwave and set for two minutes. 2. Remove from microwave with pot holders or other protective cooking gear. Place 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in the pan and rub the bottom and sides of the pan with the oil and a paper towel. 3. Reheat empty pan in the base for 1 minute in the microwave. 4. Remove from microwave with pot holders or other protective cooking gear. Wipe and remove any excess oils using clean paper towels. For quick searing, preheat your grill and/or griddle pans in base unit for about 2 1/2 minutes in your microwave. If you would like to use cooking oil or butter for flavoring your foods, use half the amount suggested for a regular recipe. Always let meats rest after cooking about ten minutes before serving to retain all the flavors and juices. When grilling, resist the temptation to turn the food repeatedly. Let the foods sit on the grill to sear. Remove and lift a corner to determine If it is grilled to your liking. Use tongs to peek, lift or turn all foods to avoid puncturing. This will help seal all the natural juice and flavors on the inside. Brush marinade directly on your foods or marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hour for optimum results. *Repeat this process whenever you notice any sticking on the nonstick surfaces after a number of washings or once a month. 7

10 Always... Always allow your base pan to cool completely before cleaning. Use a damp cloth and wipe dry. Always use plastic or wooden utensils when cooking on any nonstick surface to prevent scratching. Always preheat your grill pan for 2 minutes for optimum results. Never... Never scour any part of your TastiWave TM cookware with abrasive or metal scouring pads. Never submerge your TastiWave TM pans into water while hot. This can cause damage and warping to the pans. Never submerge or wash your base unit in water. To clean, use a damp cloth or sponge to remove spatters or food particles then wipe clean with dry towel. Never use metal utensils on your TastiWave TM pans. Never use if coating on pan is scratched, damaged or missing. Never exceed a total cook time of 45 minutes. If longer use is required allow 15 minutes for cooling. Before storing, allow 60 minutes for cooling. 8
