2 This unique facility was originally the old Wallerawang Public School, first established in The School was relocated to a new facility in Barton Avenue in This was when it was purchased by Robert & Linda Cluff and transformed into the Motel Villa & Cabin & accommodation that exist today. The name Black Gold is derived from the coal mines in the area where the coal is nicknamed black gold. Western Main, Ivanhoe, Baal Bone, Angus Place, Clarence, Springvale, Wallerawang, Fernbrook, Enhance and Airly are all existing & previous local coal mines. Also in our local area the Wallerawang (sadly put out of service in March 2014) & Mt Piper Power Stations provide employment. More recently our Crib Room Restaurant was established in March Appropriately named The Crib Room is the name coalminers use for where they have their meals while working underground.
