Here at the Belgian Monk we go to great lengths to ensure a varied supply of Belgian beers are available. We travel 3 times each month to purchase direct from our breweries. We enjoy exclusivity from 6 smaller regional Belgian breweries ensuring that here at the Belgian Monk we offer you beers not available anywhere else in the UK. 3 House Beers and Pilsners Half Pint Petrus Blond 6.6% abv 3.45 The key to heaven brewed with pure spring water and carefully selected hops and malts, this blond beer is soft and full of flavour. Gets its name from a vintage French wine. Petrus Dubbel Bruin 6.5% abv 3.45 A top fermented dark beer, brewed with pure spring water and carefully selected hops and malts. Subtle hints of caramelised sugar on the nose. Great served cold. Bavik Pils 5.2% abv 3.25 Voted best Belgian Pilsner. Brewed with the finest Bavarian hops and pure spring water means this un-pasteurised lager is an excellent thirst quencher. Wittekerke White Beer 5% abv 3.40 Voted best Belgian White Beer, a sunny colour and creamy foam head, nicely rounded with a well defined herbal bitterness. Great with mussels!! Petrus Aged Red 8.5% abv 5.25 The perfect blending of a prize winning dark beer, a beer aged in oak barrels combined with sour cherries. The result, a complex ruby red jewel which is sweet yet sour at the same time. Kwaremont Blond 6.6% abv 3.50 Just like the killer climb of the Oude Kwaremont, this beer is fiery and packed full of character. A full malt brew that delivers the jolt of liquid sugar your body craves after peddling your socks off. 33cl Bottle Petrus Tripel 7.5% abv 5.10 A high fermented blond beer, fermented in the bottle. A special fruity aroma, full of flavour and packed full of taste. Petrus Rood Bruin 5.5% abv 4.25 This high fermented deep dark red beer is aged for over 20 months in large oak casks. This process gives this original Old Brown its wine-like aristocratic slightly sour taste. Petrus Speciale 5.5% abv 4.25 An amber coloured top fermented beer. This beer s characteristic aroma is a result of specially selected malt and hop varieties then brewed to an age-old secret recipe. Fruit Beers and Lambics Half Pint 33cl Bottle Ter Dolen Kriek 4.5% abv A deliciously sweet cherry beer. Rich in taste and colour Wittekerke Rosé 4.3% abv 3.50 The first original Rosé beer, this unique beer has a surprising taste and intense colour with a sensual character. Pure raspberry juice is added to the Wittekerke Witte beer base. A real hit, terrific served cold. 25cl Bottle Lindemans Appel 3.5% abv A refreshing modern apple beer using a natural white beer base infused with crisp green apples St Louis Peche 2.6% abv The addition of peach juice gives a subtle full bouquet Lindemans Cassis 3.5% abv 4.25 A sharp, yet slightly sweet, spontaneous fermented blackcurrant beer. Full of flavour and very refreshing. Bosbier 4.5% abv A soft, yet slightly sweet fruit beer created with blueberries on a Pils base Oude Geuze Boon A L Ancienne 7.0% abv 4.95 Taste carefully and you will uncover a fruity grapefruit and ginger flavour with a hint of Muscat grapes. It s a magnificent blend of 90% mild 18 month old Lambic, 5% strong three year old beer and 5% very young Lambic. Lindemans Framboise 2.5% abv A delicate fruity aroma, dark pink in colour, with powerful raspberry notes and a hint of caramel. 4.25

4 Belgian Regional Specialities Some unique regional beers known as Streekbieren in Flemish. Half Pint DeKoninck 5% abv 3.60 Antwerp s favourite beer, a very easy drinkable ale. Just ask the server for a bollekje, they won t be offended. Ter Dolen Blond 6.1% abv 3.60 An uncomparable beer, very soft on the palate. A very enjoyable Abbaye beer. St Bernardus Abt 12 10% abv 5.65 The pride of the stable, this dark quadruple beer is packed full of fruity aromas. A perfect equilibrium between malty, bitter and sweet. Full bodied with a long bitter sweet finish. 33cl Bottle Ter Dolen Armand 7.0% abv 4.75 A blond fruity beer with hints of grapefruit and citrus. This beer combines 3 types of American hops to produce a lager-like taste with a bitter finish. Unfiltered cloudy and hoppy, easy drinking. Gold medal winner Ter Dolen Donker 7.1% abv 4.80 This dark Abbaye beer with its mellow taste and full body is fruity and slightly sweet. Triple D Anvers 8.0% abv 5.95 A traditional Belgian Triple with a touch of Antwerp. A big head and a big mouth but with just as big a heart. A good session beer, very easy drinking for a strong Triple. Brewed at the Brouwerij DeKoninck. Blanche de Namur 4.5% abv 4.25 Hazy, mild and smooth, this white beer is subtly brewed with wheat and hints of bitter orange peel and coriander from Brasserie du Bocq. Slightly acidulous, harmonious with seafood. Saison Dupont 6.5% abv 4.60 A classic among the seasoned Belgian beers, a coppery blond beer with the finest of aromas and strong bitterness which transform this beer into a thirst quencher with no equal. Troubadour Blond 6.5% abv 4.95 A tasty blond strong beer, refermented in the bottle. An unfiltered speciality beer. Troubadour Obscura 8.2% abv 5.95 A Belgian dark strong ale with a nice creamy foam head. The beer has a multi character with a nice little roasty flavour. Obscura has a mild bitterness which is a little stronger in the aftertaste. The smell of roasted burnt wood is completed by a light chocolate touch. Troubadour Magma 9.0% abv 6.25 This strong unfiltered amber ale is full of flavour and very easy to drink, but note its strength. Brewed using a method known as dry hopping. Grimbergen Blond 6.7% abv 4.95 Ochre coloured, with a balanced fruity-malty, light taste. Grimbergen Dubbel 6.5% abv 4.95 Dark reddish brown, with a sweet toffee taste and a warming finish. Belle Fleur IPA 6.0% abv 6.00 The pure taste of hops!! An excellent Golden Beer with strong notes of caramel malt, floral and citrus undertones. A medium biterness, with a long dry finish. Excellent and well balanced. Piraat 10.5% abv 6.25 A triple Flemish IPA, full body, fruity aroma, a faint of sweetness balanced by a spicy bitterness. Excellent with seafood or nice with a piece of meat. Absolutely one of the top 5 beers in the world. Gulden Draak 10.5% abv 6.25 This is a beer that is in a class of its own, a dark heavy beer that is very easy drinking, so rich in flavour the English call this a barley wine. The Belgians? Well they simply ask... is there a better beer than Gulden Draak in this world?

5 33cl Bottle Embrasse 9.0% abv 6.45 A dark beer brewed by De Doktor Van de Korenaar. A dark beer brewed using nine different wheats, malts and barley. Chocolatey on the nose and very smooth on the palate. A cross between a stout and a trappist. Straffe Hendrik Tripel 9.0% abv 6.35 Starts soft and sweet with pronounced pear drop notes but with a lingering hoppy finish. Straffe Hendrik Quadrupel 11.0% abv 6.95 A special dark beer brewed to an age old recipe by de Halve Maan brewery. A rich and intense dark Belgian ale. Préaris IPA 6.7% abv 5.40 No hops, no glory!! A perfect example of a medium strength IPA with a clean hoppy aftertaste. Tripel LeFort 8.8% abv 5.95 A complex golden beer with an intense crisp fruity aroma. Essences of vanilla and clove combine with the fruity flavours of bananas and red apples. Wolf 7 7.4% abv 5.25 No not the one from Norfolk, this special distinctive Belgian blond beer is strong and full of flavour with hints of spice and wheat. Brewed by Brouwerij Lupus. Filou 8.5% abv 5.95 This beautiful golden blond strong beer has a perfect balance of hops to malt. Full on taste in the mouth, finishing with a pure yet slightly bitter end. Kwak 8.4% abv 5.95 Strong amber ale served in a miniature yard-of-ale glass supported by a wooden plinth. Legend has it that this bizarre vessel enabled it to be passed to coachmen without spillage. This beer offers much more than novelty value. DeliriumTremens 8.5% abv 6.25 A golden ale. Pink elephants on the glass. Daft name glorifying alcohol abuse. Rochefort % abv 6.95 One of only 6 Trappist beers. This excellent brown beer with a hint of chocolate is fermented in the bottle. Although easy drinking should always be drunk with respect. Kasteel Rouge 8% abv 5.75 This is the fruit beer from the excellent Kasteel range, its unique dark red colour is obtained by mixing Kasteel Bruin that has matured for six months, with sour cherries. It s an outstanding real ale, but be careful - it s tasty, easy drinking but strong. Maredsous Blonde 6% abv 4.65 This clear, crisp dry blond is full of bite, golden orange in colour with minimal spice and hints of honey. Bush Amber 12% abv 6.95 One of the oldest Belgian special beers, pride of the Debuisson family. Brewed using malt, hops and natural sugars leaves this beer with a bitter sweet caramel taste. Tripel Karmeliet 8.4% abv 5.95 A blond robust fruity 3 grain beer from the House of Kwak. St Bernardus Tripel 8.0% abv 5.85 A traditional Abbey beer brewed in the classic Tripel style. A pale amber blond beer with a sweet aroma combined with orangey and grassy flavours of hops. Easy drinking and surprisingly light. La Chouffe 8.0% abv 5.95 An exceptionally unfiltered blond beer. Pleasantly fruity and nicely spiced with coriander tinged with hops. Great with white meats and meaty fish dishes. Brugse Zot Blond 6.0% abv 5.00 A delicious blond beer with a fruity yet spicy bouquet. Brewed with four different kinds of hops which gives the beer its inimitable taste.

Pleasantly fruity and nicely spiced with coriander tinged with hops. Great with white meats and meaty fish dishes. Kasteel Rouge 8.0% abv This is the fruit beer from the excellent Kasteel range, its unique dark red colour is obtained by mixing Kasteel Bruin that has matured for six months, with sour cherries. It s an outstanding real ale, but be careful - it s tasty, easy drinking but strong. Low Alcohol and Gluten-Free 25cl Bottle Jupiler 0.0% abv 2.90 A blond 0% alcohol version of Belgium s best selling Pilsner. 33cl Bottle Mongozo Gluten-Free Pilsner 5.0% abv 4.95 A light and delicate floral bouquet, refreshingly light and malty, all ingredients are verifiably organically grown with no compromise to taste whatsoever. Cidres _ Belgian Ciders 33cl Bottle Strongbow Gold Appel Cidre 4.5% 4.25 A crisp Belgian Cider that s slightly sweet with a refreshingly crisp bite. Strongbow Elderflower Cidre 4.5% 4.25 A new addition, a Cider with the added sweetness of elderflower. Strongbow Red Berries Cidre 4.5% 4.25 A refreshing Cider with a combination of red berries. Wines White Wines 175ml 250ml 750ml Bottle Verdejo Pasos de La Capula (Sp) Grown in La Mancha, with low rainfall, hot days and cool nights. Made from 30 year old Verdejo vines. Dry fresh with lovely floral aromas and peachy flavours, with a fresh, rounded character. Drinks well with or without food. Pinot Grigio, Prima Alta (It) A modern, clean wine with a pale straw colour and gently scented nose, with acacia and white blossom flowers. The palate is dry, light to medium bodied with restrained peach and citrus fruit. Sauvignon Blanc, Bouchon Reserva (Ch) All the fruit is hand picked, predominantly from mature vines in the Maule valley south of Santiago, where they benefit from long dry summers and mild winters. This refreshing wine offers notes of freshly cut grass and nettles on the nose. Sauvignon Blanc, Wild South, Cairnbrae, Marlborough (NZ) This multi award winning wine shows a classic lychee and gooseberry nose, with hints of tropical fruits on the palate. Stunning! Riesling Hartenberg (SA) This Riesling is planted on clay-rich soils and harvested entirely by hand. This wine boasts stone fruit aromas, sweet and sour citrus notes and a definite whiff of jasmine. Chablis, Domaine Billaud - Simon (Fr) A classic Chablis with wet stone delicacies with bags of lemon and grapefruit bouquet.

7 Champagne and Sparkling 750ml Bottle Gratiot-pillière NV Vintage Champagne This Brut tradition is pure and elegant in style, aromas of flowers and fresh white fruit emerge, followed by a direct crisp expressive finish. Prosecco Spumante DOC, Ca degli Ermellini NV (It) This delicate Prosecco Spumante is pale yellow in colour with fine bubbles. It has gentle floral aromas and apple fruit on the palate with hints of flowers and honey. Crisp and well balanced, it is the perfect aperitif as well as a good match for fish and seafood. Spirits and Liqueurs Bacardi, Gin, Courvoisier, Jack Daniels, Jamesons, Whisky, Martini Dry (50ml), Martini Rosso (50ml), Pimms No.1 (50ml) Smirnoff, Southern Comfort, Tia Maria, Port (50ml), Baileys (50ml) 200ml Bottle Prosecco 8.95 Perfect for one, an individual 200ml bottle of Prosecco. Elegant with undertones of stone fruits, lemon and fine bubbles. Fancy a Cocktail? Belgian Bubbles A cocktail of Ter Dolen Kriek Beer blended with Prosecco. Heaven in a Glass Rose Wines 175ml 250ml 750ml Bottle White Grenache, E & J Gallo (USA) One of the most popular and easy drinking Rose wines, full of sweetness and rich in bouquet. Red Wines 175ml 250ml 750ml Bottle Tempranillo, Pasos de la Capula (Sp) Rich and ripe with deep concentration of red berry fruit flavours and gentle tanins with a touch of spice. Not surprisingly, a very drinkable wine. Roc d Opale Rouge, VdP de Mediteranée (Fr) A combination of Grenache and Merlot, generally harvested at night to retain the flavours, lovely blend with the hedgerow fruit combining with fresh damson and chocolate on the nose. The wine is round bursting with plum flavours and is incredibly easy to drink. Zinfandel Rosso True Zin IGT Puglia (It) This is a great fun wine from the heel of Italy. 100% Primitivo which is also known as Zinfandel. An intense purple colour. It is fruity with notes of plums and cherry marmalade, with spices and aftertastes of cocoa, coffee and vanilla. Chianti Contea di Lucca (It) This ruby red wine with its attractive fragance of violets is soft on the palate, with a structured, rounded finish. A blend of 85% sangiovese with a balance of Canaiolo and Malvasia grapes. Cabernet Shiraz, Hartenburg Estate, (SA) Hartenburg Estate is at the forefront of the new era of South African wine making. This wine is peppery and spicy with rich berry aromas and fruit flavours. This wine has style and elegance. You would be hard-pressed to find a better value for money red wine in South Africa. Cabernet Merlot, Pitchfork (Aus) Soft and ripe berry fruits with chocolate mint characters typical of Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon. The palate has good concentration of ripe sweet berry fruits with impressive fleshiness and ripe tannin on the finish. from 2.60 (35ml)
