Penny & Al Birch Hill Happenings Aromatherapy, LLC SPA FOOT BATH Epsom Salt - ¼ cup Baking Soda - ¼ cup Peppermint - 1 drop Geranium - 1 drop Rosemary- 1 drop Sweet Almond OR Sunflower oil - 1 teaspoon Basin of Very Warm Water Add all ingredients from above into your foot bath tub or a bucket that will hold your feet comfortably, swish around to dissolve the salts. Soak your feet for minutes. Rinse, and dry your feet well. Apply lotion or cream once your feet have dried a bit. Put on some soft cotton socks. We suggest - Als Rich Body Creme or ALS Hand & Body Lotion Germ Busting Air Disinfectant Diffuser Blend This is a great air disinfecting diffuser blend. It has great ingredients to kill most all of those nasty germs kids will bring home from school. Get some ready and start diffusing as soon as the kids are back in school! Eucalyptus globulus - 12 drops Thyme Linalool - 12 drops Lemon - 12 drops Fragonia - 10 drops Clove bud - 6 drops Cinnamon - 5 drops Blend all in an amber bottle, then shake well. Add to any diffuser. If you wish,you can add 2ml of emulsifier to the essential oil blend and then add to four ounces of water. Shake well and spray around the room as desired. From the Flower Garden Blend Flowers are blooming like crazy as summer is in full swing. Soon though the flowers will all fade and you will need to use your essential oils to bring back the scents of summer. Start with this rich floral scented blend. Geranium - 5 drops Juniper Berry - 5 drops Petitgrain - 5 drops Blend all in an amber bottle, then shake well. Add to any diffuser. If you wish, you can add 1ml of emulsifier to the essential oil blend and then add to two ounces of water. Shake well and spray around the room as desired.

2 2 P a g e Mattress Sanitizer Spray Now is a great time to get your mattresses ready for the months ahead. Mattress Sanitizer Spray using Lavender -Tea Tree Lavender - 50 drops Tea Tree - 30 drops Copaiba Balsam - 20 drops Vodka - 2 oz Distilled water - 2 oz. Simply fill any HDPE Spray bottle with the above recipe, shake well and spray away. We suggest you use a HDPE Spray bottle with a trigger. Set the sprayer to spray with a fine mist. Do not try to use a Fine Mist Sprayer as it takes too much 'finger work'. NOTE: the above blend is to be used entirely on one set of mattresses and foundations. Do not store unused portions as over time they could become very ineffective or contaminated due to the water base used. IF you need it to last for several months - then you NEED to use the Linen Spray base and not the vodka and distilled water. Nagging Cough Relief Blend Are you getting tired of that nagging cough that arrived with your latest cold or allergy flare? Try this blend to give your throat and chest some relief. Cedarwood - 5 drops Myrrh - 5 drops Frankincense - 5 drops Niaouli - 3 drops German Chamomile - 1 drop Blend all in a glass bottle. Then add to your Personal Nasal inhaler. Inhale several inhalations every 2-3 hours. You can double or triple the above recipe and use in any diffuser. For some folks this may be beneficial for use in your bedroom to give you relief while you sleep. Uplifting Energy Bergamot - 5 drops Grapefruit - 5 drops Sweet Orange - 3 drops Frankincense - 3 drops Blend well, in a glass bottle. Then use in any diffuser or on jewelry. Enjoy.

3 3 P a g e Our Customer shared... Dealing with Shingles can be a challenge. Our good customer Freda, shared some recipes that worked for her & her family. To get rid of the blisters - in five days, we used 10 drops Lemon 6-8 drops Bergamot (6 if you use 4 drops of lemongrass) 6 drops Eucalyptus 4 drops Myrrh 2-4 drops Lemongrass in one oz carrier oil The first time we used fractionated coconut oil, the second time we used almond oil. Recipes to help with neuropathy once the blisters were gone. Two recipes to alternate each month until healed. The second recipe actually works for both the shingles and the neuropathy. #1 10 drops Juniper berrry 10 drops Geranium 10 drops Helichrysum (expensive) but it works! In 1-2 ounces Carrier oil. #2 15 drops Geranium 10 drops Helichrysum 6 drops Cypress 10 drops Juniperberry 5 drops Peppermint. In 1-2 ounces Carrier oil. Less Stress Massage Lavender - 8 drops Geranium - 4 drops Clary Sage - 2 drops Spruce Needle - 2 drops Neroli - 1 drop Jojoba - 2 oz Blend all in a bottle and use for massage. Massage on temples, neck, shoulders and back. Omit the Jojoba to use in a personal inhaler or diffuser. Headache blend Lavender - 10 drops Eucalyptus Radiata -10 drops Roman Chamomile - 5 drops Blend the essential oils together, inhale You can use in a personal inhaler or diffuser. OR blend with Jojoba - 2 oz blend all in a bottle and use for massage. Massage on temples, neck, shoulders and back.

4 4 P a g e Life is Easier Bath blend Epsom Salt cups Lavender - 5 drops Cajeput - 5 drops Copaiba Balsam - 5 drops Spearmint - 3 drops Blend the essential oils together, add all to the bath tub as it is filling with water. Enjoy the relaxing scent by breathing the air while soaking in the tub for 30 minutes or so. This blend can also be blended and diffused in the room. We know that sometimes you don't always have time to 'soak' in a nice warm tub. Chest Congestion Blend for Bronchitis in Children & Adults Myrtle - 12 drops Niaouli - 5 drops Eucalyptus Radiata - 5 drops Thyme Linalool - 5 drops Ravensara - 3 drops Blend all in a glass bottle. Put 3-5 drops on a diffuser pad and diffuse in the bedroom. Best to diffuse 30 minutes prior to bedtime. If you can, diffuse every 2-3 hours for 15 minutes. This blend is for use with children 2 years or older. You can blend 2 drops in 1 tablespoon of carrier oil, lotion or cream to apply to the chest of older children. Always use small amounts when used on young children. This blend can be diffused in the room but not massaged on younger children. GARGLE for SORE THROATS Sore throats are a pain in the neck! (pun intended!) Get a little relief by gargling with salt water that you have added a drop of Myrrh and a drop of Oregano OR Thyme. Use 2-3 oz of warm tap water add the salt, then stir in the oils. Do not swallow this, just gargle, swish and spit. Repeat every 2-3 hours as needed. And, yes it will feel hot and may have a burning sensation. But then your sore throat does whether you have essential oils added to the water or not. Don't forget sipping hot water (tea) with a little lemon & honey may feel great too!

5 5 P a g e Quick and Easy Brown Sugar Scrub Great for Holiday gifts! The Basic Recipe is follows: 1 cup White Sugar with ½ tablespoon Black strap molasses added - mix really well so the molasses is incorporated into the white sugar and is a nice light golden brown. OR use 1 cup of Light Brown Sugar The White sugar and adding the molasses will be much more cost effective as brown sugar is expensive but convenient. The molasses is needed, which is already in the brown sugar to help give it the vanilla - cream scent. +2 ounces Vanilla Scented Massage and Skin Oil Blend +2 ounces Grapeseed oil +1 tablespoon - Expeller coconut Oil +4-5 ml ( about 1 teaspoonful) Fruit Cocktail Fragrance oil (or scent of your desire) For scenting you can use Fragrance oils OR 1-2 ml of essential oil such as Lavender or Calming blend. If the Coconut oil is solid - simple melt in the microwave for about 20 seconds it will liquefy easily. Mix the oils and the fragrance together. Stir really well. Then add to the Sugar. Stir and mix really well. Package in your jars and cover tightly! Make sure you label them well. Apple Pie Potpourri Fiber Bits - 2 to 4 ounces Grandma's Apple Pie Fragrant Fixins' FO-EO Blend - 5 ml Assorted Potpourri Fixings such as: Apple Slices Rosehips Orange Slices Cinnamon Sticks Clove Buds and anything else you want to add to your bowl. We have dozens of small sizes of a variety of potpourri fixin's to choose from. Put the Fiber bits in a Glass jar with a lid. Add 5ml (1 teaspoon) of the FO-EO blend and let soak for 24 hours. You can use more of the FO-EO blend scent if you desire. Then simply mix everything together and put in decorative bowl. You can also fill organza bags to hang in closets, cars, etc. or use Cellophane bags to give as gifts!

6 6 P a g e Caregivers Special Massage blend Lavender - 8 drops Geranium - 4 drops Clary Sage - 2 drops Spruce Needle - 2 drops Carrier Oil - 2 ounces Add your essential oils to the bottle of Carrier oil (Your choice), blend well then use for massage or as an after bath oil. Chapped Lips Mix the following into melted lip balm base - pour into lip balm tubes OR in to the Metal tins with slide tops. Once cool - simply put a bit on your fingertip and massage onto your lips. Lavender - 6 drops Rosewood - 4 drops Lip balm base - 2 teaspoons ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lavender - 6 drops Sandalwood - 4 drops Lip Balm Base - 2 teaspoons Calming Excited Children Spray Christmas time is so exciting for children. I remember our own sons the closer it came to the 'best' day of the year and how excited they were. I wish we had been attuned to essential oils back then. I would have definitely used a few spritzes in the air. There are other times too where you may want to use this blend Birthdays, special vacations or visits from grandparents. The list goes on. Roman Chamomile - 20 drops Mandarin - 20 drops Lavender - 20 drops Vetiver - 20 drops Emulsifier - 2 teaspoonsful Room Spray Base- 4 oz Blend the essential oils with the emulsifier then add to the Room Spray base. Shake well before use. Spray several good sprays in the room when kids are getting a little too excited and bedtime is just around the corner.

7 7 P a g e Dish Washing blend Add the following recipe of essential oils to a 8 ounce bottle of unscented Liquid soap - we have an unscented Dish Soap but you can choose Liquid Castile soap too. Lime - 12 drops Bergamot FCF - 10 drops Lavender - 5 drops Orange, Sweet - 3 drops Blend Well and use to hand wash dishes as you normally do. Nice refreshing scent that does a great job cleaning too. Quiet Evening Blend There are times when you just want to sit quietly. Perhaps reading a book, doing a crossword puzzle or maybe you are a knitter or other hand-crafter, listening to music or maybe just day-dreaming. In all of these cases you might want to enjoy a tranquil contentment-type scent. Here is a recipe for your quiet times. Frankincense sacra - 5 drops Bergamot - 5 drops Neroli - 3 drops You can simply drop this on a pad of any fan diffuser or in the melted wax of a tart warmer. Sit back with a hot cup of chocolate, tea or wine. Enjoy! Disinfecting Surface Spray Your family is gathering for the Holidays - Christmas, New Year s or other times. This year your 'Uncle" decides to come even though he has the "flu". You don't want to sound like your totally freaked out so with confidence - you decide to use a little disinfecting spray on the surfaces. Bergamot FCF - 5 ml Oregano - 4 ml Lavender - 2 ml Spearmint - 2 ml Cedarwood - 2 ml Cinnamon Leaf - 1 ml Emulsifier - 15 ml Distilled water - 8 ounces OR All Purpose Spray Cleaner Base- 8 oz Blend the essential oils with the emulsifier until well blended. Then add to the water or All Purpose spray cleaner base. Shake well before each use. You can spray on surfaces, but be sure to wipe them dry them within about 5 minutes. This is a highly concentrated blend to help get rid of all those nasty germs.

8 8 P a g e Focus your Thoughts Blend Litsea Cubeba - 10 drops Juniper Berry - 10 drops Cypress - 8 drops Fennel - 4 drops Rosemary - 2 drops Blend the essential oils until well blended, then use in any diffuser as you persue your new Goals. Reading and learning while using essential oils will help the mind to focus on your learning experience. Relaxing Bath - A simple blend - Roman Chamomile - 4 drops Lavender - 2 drops Simply drop essential oils these into the bathtub while it is filling. Then sit back and enjoy. If you want to use this blend more than one time mix in an essential oil bottle (we sell empty 10ml bottles) - put a label on it and where is says drops - use milliliters instead. i.e. 4ml of roman chamomile and 2ml of Lavender. Blend in a 10 ml bottle - You will have plenty to add 6 drops to your tub for many,many baths! Citrus Room Spray blend Most folks never tire of the refreshing scents of the citrus oils. This blend is excitingly refreshing. The Cedarwood rounds out the sharp citrus and gives it a bit of softness. Lime essential oil- 1 teaspoonful (5ml) Tangerine essential oil - 1/2 teaspoonful (2.5ml) Grapefruit essential oil - 1 ml (20-25 drops) Cedarwood essential oil - 10 drops Emulsifier - 2 teaspoons Spray Bottle - 8 ounce size Room Spray Base or Distilled water - 4 ounces (only use distilled water if you will be using this up within a week or two - otherwise use the Room Spray Base as it has preservatives in it.) Muscle & Joint Pain Relief Blend Black Pepper - 12 drops Juniper Berry - 6 drops Marjoram - 6 drops Ginger - 6 drops Spruce Needle - 4 drops Carrier oil such as Castor oil - 2 ounces (Castor oil seems to be very helpful with arthritis pain). Blend all in a small bottle. Massage into painful and sore joints and muscles as needed.

9 Fighting the 'Stinky' Sneaker (Shoe) 9 P a g e Nothing smells so bad as smelly shoes after being worn for several days in damp humid weather. If you wear them to exercise in and do a lot of sweating - well, you know what I mean! Here is an easy to use Shoe & Sneaker deodorizer. Lemongrass - 30 drops Eucalyptus - 15 drops (any of the Eucalyptus oils are fine but E. globulus is very good for this recipe) Copaiba Balsam - 10 drops Blend essential oils in an empty bottle. Apply several drops to a 2 or more cotton pads - Scentball replacement pads or Tru Melange replacement pads work great for this. Place the now scented pad INSIDE of a COTTON SOCK. Then place this inside the shoes or sneakers. You will need at least 2 - one for each shoe. More of course if you need to deodorize more than one pair of shoes. Leave in the shoes until you need to wear them. Preferably leave them in the shoes for 24 hours or more. Reapply essential oil blend to the pads and insert back into the socks as needed. Summertime Carpet Freshener High humidity always seems to bring out the 'stink' in carpeting and rugs. Great if you have time to shampoo or launder them. When time is short - you can sprinkle this carpet freshener blend - let it sit for a bit and vacuum. It will help to brighten your spirits too. Orange Essential Oil - 50 drops (2 1/2 ml ) Lemongrass Essential Oil 50 drops (2 1/2 ml) Grapefruit Essential Oil - 30 drops (1 1/2 ml) Clove Bud Essential Oil - 10 drops Cassia Essential Oil - 10 drops Baking Soda - 1/2 cup Blend essential oils in your empty glass jar. Then add the Baking soda. Stir and blend (shake) for a few seconds to let the essential oils penetrate the Baking soda. Sprinkle on the carpet - let sit for minutes. Vacuum as usual. Store any extra for your next vacuuming in the sealed glass jar. Skin and Body Oil A simple yet easy to use after bath body oil. Perfect to use after your bath and before bedtime to help you fall asleep easily Lavender - 7 drops Sweet Orange (or Mandarin) - 5 drops Roman Chamomile - 2 drops Sunflower Oil or carrier oil of your choice - 1 ounce In a glass bottle, blend all essential oils with your carrier. Blend this ahead of time, prior to your bath. After your bath (or shower), use a few drops to apply to your damp skin. Pat your skin dry if needed. Head off to bed for sweet slumber filled night.

10 10 P a g e Fresh Body Spray - perfect for going back to work or school As summer comes to a close, you still want to have a light perfume or body spray enveloping you as you go about your day. This recipe is just that - light and fresh. The essential oils in this blend work double duty. They may be helpful to keep you alert, happy and calm inside. What more could you want when you have a busy day? Emulsifier - 2 ml French Lavender - 10 drops Ylang Ylang #3-10 drops Cistus - 10 drops Tangerine - 5 drops Body Spray base - 2 ounces Blend the essential oils with the emulsifier. Next add this to the Body Spray base. Shake well before each use. Although this can be made using plain distilled water, we suggest the Body Spray base as it will allow the spray to last for several months. If you choose to use distilled water, date your bottle to be tossed out after 1 month - It must be kept refrigerated if you use distilled water. Autumn Spicy Scent Sweet Orange - 50 drops Bay Rum - 40 drops Clove Bud - 30 drops Cassia - 20 drops Cinnamon Leaf - 20 drops V' Nillas blend - 15 drops Blend these in a glass bottle, shake well then use in any diffuser, add to a potpourri dish. Or add 30 drops to 8 oz of Room Spray base to spritz in the air. Shake well before spraying to make sure all is blended in the spray mix. Read a book or Story time Blend Whether you are sitting down to read a book for yourself, or are reading a book to your children, diffusing essential oils can spring their or your imagination into action as the scents help to create a sense or awareness. Just diffuse this simple blend and enjoy your book or story time. This is also a relaxing blend to ease away tensions from the day. Sweet Orange - 5 drops Sandalwood (or S'Woods blend) - 5 drops Geranium - 1 drop Blend these together and diffuse near your reading place.

11 11 P a g e Relieve the Stress of Grief Blend Overwhelmed by the loss of a loved one can be stressful - before they pass and after they are gone. Use this blend to ease your tensions and smooth out the times when you need extra strength to carry on. Frankincense Sacra - 10 drops Rose 5% - 10 drops or Rose Otto - 1 drop Roman Chamomile - 3 drops Ylang -ylang - 3 drops Black Pepper - 1 drop Blend in a small bottle and use in any diffuser, nasal inhaler or on jewelry. Can also be applied to silk flowers to be given to those grieving. Apply extra rose oils if you do this. Tooth & Jaw Ache Blend German Chamomile 15 drops Helichrysum - 9 drops Clove Bud - 6 drops Peppermint - 3 drops Coconut Oil of your choice 1 oz Fractionated coconut oil is liquid all the time. If you choose Expeller or Virgin Coconut oil, you may have to warm the bottle in your hand to be able to use. Blend all the essential oils and add to the coconut oil. Mix well. Apply along the jaw line where the ache is the worse. Apply as needed. Please see your dentist if pain continues beyond a day. Alternately. Omit the Coconut oil and add only a drop or two of the essential oil blend to 2 ounces of warm water - Swish around the mouth and SPIT OUT. Do not swallow. Anti-Viral Diffusing Blends Recipe #1 Eucalyptus Radiata or Eucalyptus Globulus - 5 drops Lavender - 5 drops Lemon - 5 drops Recipe #3 Juniper Berry - 5 drops Pine Needle - 5 drops Cypress - 5 drops Recipe #2 Sweet Orange - 15 drops Cinnamon leaf - 2 drops Clove bud - 2 drops Recipe #4 Fragonia - 10 drops Spruce needle - 5 drops Eucalyptus - 3 drops Peppermint - 1 drop Choose a recipe - put these drops on the pad of a Fan style Diffuser. Change and use a new recipe every day. The variety of essential oils in each helps to ward off or help you feel better more quickly should you get sick.

12 Stimulating Personal Fatigue Relief Blend Orange - 3 drops Clary Sage - 2 drops Coriander - 2 drops Helichrysum- 1 drop Jasmine - 1 drop Palmarosa - 1 drop Vetiver 1 drop Jojoba Tablespoons Mix all essential oils together and add to the Jojoba. Apply as a perfume. 12 P a g e Omit the Jojoba, put in an inhaler and enjoy from a nasal inhaler. "Sweet Dreams Too!" - a pillow spray Linen spray base -2 oz Lavender - 8 drops Roman Chamomile - 4 drop Mandarin - 4 drop Ylang-Ylang - 4 drop Polysorbate drops First, blend essential oils together with the emulsifier (Polysorbate 20). Then add to the Linen spray base and Shake well Spritz on pillowcases. Let dry. This blend is best if sprayed on the pillows about 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to bedtime. Refreshing Room Blend Lime - 10 drops Spearmint - 10 drops Myrtle - 5 drops Blend all together and use in any diffuser. This is a great blend to help give you an afternoon or morning - Wake me up. It is an awesome blend for this. Dry Hair Oil Treatment Having flowing beautiful locks of hair is usually a woman's (or man's) crowning glory. Harsh weather can dry any hair. Using the following blend 2-3 times a week may help keep your tresses as beautiful as ever. Ginger - 20 drops Rosewood - 20 drops Lavender - 10 drops Jojoba or Camellia oil - 2 ounces. Blend these oils together. Next using about 1 teaspoonful of this mixture and massage throughout your hair and scalp. Brush it thoroughly so it penetrates every strand. Wrap your hair in a towel and leave on for 2 hours minimum or overnight if possible. Shampoo twice with an unscented natural Shampoo. Apply a conditioner if you feel you need to, but chances are you won't need any. Dry and Style your hair as usual.

13 13 P a g e Breathe More Easily Blend & Room disinfect Pine needle - 6 drops Cinnamon Leaf - 6 drops Juniper Berry - 5 drops Clove Bud - 3 drops Blend all together and use in any diffuser. IF you have a lot of congestion using it in our Aroma Mist UltraSonic diffuser will add a bit of moisture to the room to aid in decongesting you more easily. When you want a change of pace from all that Eucalyptus or Cinnamon or medicinal smelling blends try this one. Before your Presentation Massage Neroli - 5 drops Rose Absolute Blend - 5 drops Spruce Needle - 4 drops Rosemary - 4 drops Rosewood - 3 drops Carrier oil of your choice 1 ounce Blend all the essential oils and add to the carrier oil. Massage this blend into your shoulders, neck and temples every 5-6 hours before your presentation. It should help relieve the tension and stress associated with such events. Refreshing Massage Blend Spearmint - 5 drops Basil ct Mt Chavicol - 3 drops Rosemary - 3 drops Eucalyptus Globulus - 3 drops Lime - 3 drops Bergamot FCF - 3 drops Carrier oil - 1 ounce Blend all essential oils then add the carrier oil. Blend well. Massage the back of your neck, shoulders and temples. Perfume Pomades -These are for use as PERFUME These great little gifts - stocking stuffers and more are so very easy to make. To Make 6 Small Metal Tin with Slide cover Perfumes Lip Balm Base - 45 ml (3 tablespoons) Choose one of the following blends or a single essential oil - like Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Sweet Orange Beautiful, Anxiety Stop, Calming or any other one you choose. Once you have melted the Lip Balm base - you will add drops of essential oils or blend. Stir well and pour into the tins. Once cooled cover. Don't forget to put a label on. I know you will be using our Lip Balm base, but it can be used for Lips, Perfume and Ointments or Salves.

14 14 P a g e Winter Sports blend Snowshoeing, Ice Skating, Skiing - downhill or cross country, snowboarding, sledding and more! When you are out playing in the cool or cold weather you may need a bit of warming up when you get inside. This blend is great to massage into your tired and sore muscles after you have been playing outdoors. Spearmint - 15 drops Copaiba Balsam - 10 drops Cajeput - 10 drops Black Pepper - 5 drops Ginger - 3 drops Juniper Berry - 1 drop MCT or Fractionated Coconut oil - 2 ounces. This is a strong blend at nearly 5% so use just on the muscles and joints that are sore. Special note: This blend may be great for any muscle or joint pain. Don't think you only can use it for sports. If you have arthritis, rheumatism, chronic fatigue, MS or fibromyalgia, Give it a try! Getting Back to School - A Study Aid Blend Rosemary - 10 drops Bay Laurel - 3 drops Peppermint - 2 drops Blend these essential oils together in a small bottle and apply one drop to a piece of jewelry, Several drops to a Terra Cotta disc or one drop to an Aromatherapy lapel dot. Best used while studying to help memory, attention, focus and alertness. Massage oil for Sore Muscles Cinnamon Leaf - 4 drops Cajeput - 3 Drops German or Roman Chamomile -3 drops Ginger - 2 drops Black Pepper - 2 drops Sunflower Oil - 15 ml Mix all oils, and use as you would any massage oil. Work into muscles especially after a strenuous workout such as shoveling snow and ice. This is a strong 5% blend. Use sparingly and if irritation occurs, wash off with warm soapy water, rinse and dry.
