2 INTRODUCTION Cocktails have been a mainstay of popular bar culture for centuries. Through world wars, economic crisis, times of celebration and even a nationwide ban on alcohol, they have carved their own path through history at the hands of many a bartender. Today, whilst new cocktails are being created daily, seldom do we see any that last longer than a few months, many fading into the background to make way for the next fad or fashion. The Manchester House cocktail menu comprises a selection of classic cocktails that have stood the test of time. The drinks which follow, have helped to shape global cocktail culture, either by building on the foundation of the recipes that have gone before, or by throwing out the rule book altogether.
