3 The Grapes is one of Oxford's landmark pubs as well as now being the only independent tavern on George Street. The Grapes was originally known as The Bunch of Grapes and you can find references to one of the early Landlord's, a Mr Steven's, in Jackson's Oxford Journal of Many of the fine original features still stand from the 1894 refurbishment. The grand bar, tiled walls and wooden booths all transport you to old world Oxford. The Grapes has always been a prominent feature in Oxford's theaterland providing nourishment and libations for the pre-mid-and post-theatre crowds, not to mention the performers! A sturdy bell provided warning that the show would soon recommence for those distracted theatre patrons. We ve taken the best of the 1800 s and brought it freshly up to date with our broad range of beer, wine & spirits alongside a delicious food offering.
