6 WELCOME EN Congratulations! You have selected the new and innovative MARTELLO Espresso Capsule System. Building on Italian heritage, this unique appliance has been designed to prepare delicious espressos and lungos quickly, conveniently and automatically with the touch of a button. ESPRESSO A unique method of coffee brewing in which hot water is forced through finely ground coffee. Popular in Europe, it is a far richer and more full-bodied brew than regular drip coffee. Because of its richness, espresso is usually served in 40 ml (1.4 oz) portions, in demitasse cups. LUNGO Lungo, the Italian word for long, is an espresso, which is prepared with more water. The Lungo Espresso is not just a variant but also the basis for other coffee drinks such as the latte. The Lungo is not as intense as the espresso, but the taste is less bitter. Because of its fineness, a lungo is usually served in 110 ml (3.7 oz) portions, in large cups. CAPPUCCINO A drink made with about 1/3 espresso, 1/3 steamed milk and 1/3 frothed milk. All milk-based recipes such as cappuccinos and lattes can be prepared with the MARTELLO My Milky Pro Milk Frother or MARTELLO Lattelux. LATTE A drink made with about ¼ espresso and ¾ steamed milk. All milk-based recipes such as cappuccino s and latte s can be prepared with the MARTELLO My Milky Pro Milk Frother or MARTELLO Lattelux. Please read ALL of the instructions, cautions, notes and warning included in this instruction manual carefully before you begin to use this appliance. When this unit is used, some parts and accessories get hot and need to cool down. Proper care and maintenance will ensure the long life of the MARTELLO Espresso Capsule System and its trouble-free operation. 7 EN FIRST USE The instructions on this page are valid for the first set-up of the device and for easy cleaning of the espresso nozzle Rinse removable water tank with warm water (J). Rinse thoroughly. Fill water tank (J) with water. Place a container or a large cup under the espresso nozzle (D). Plug in the connection plug. Press the ON/OFF switch (I) and wait until the LED on the brew button (B) is on and stops flashing. 5 6 When the control LED is no longer flashing and remains lit (approx. 30 seconds), press the brew button (B) to flush system. Wait until the water pours continuously from the espresso nozzle (D) and repeat the process until you have gone through one tank of water. Stilista PRIMEO 7

8 AUTOMATIC OPERATION EN Before espresso output: Fill the Watertank (J) with water - switch the espresso machine on (I) - open lever (A) - insert the espresso capsule - close lever (A) fully - wait until the brew button (B) is lit up and the light is no longer flashing (approx. 30 seconds). NOTE: There may be slight deviations in the set brew times due to different coffee varieties or water hardness. Espresso 1 2 press 1 x Place a small espresso cup on the drip tray grid (G). Press the brew button once, (B) for a short. The espresso machine is programmed for a approx 40 ml espresso. Lungo 1 2 press 2 x Place a lungo cup on the drip tray grid (G). Press the brew button (B) twice within 2 seconds. The espresso machine is already programmed for a approx 110 ml lungo. Customized espresso amount keep pressed Place a small / big cup on the drip tray grid (G). 8 Stilista PRIMEO Press and hold the brew button (B) until your desired coffee quantity has been reached (the maximum output of espresso/water is approx 300 ml). The brewing cycle can be stopped at anytime by releasing the brew button (B). NOTE: This amount will not be stored in your machine. Please repeat this procedure, if you want more coffees with your desired quantity.

9 EN DAILY-USE The MARTELLO Stilista Primeo Capsule System is preprogrammed with two default settings. A single button press will deliver a 40ml espresso. A double button press will deliver a 110ml lungo. You can also customize your drink by holding the brew button for desired amount for a maximum output of 300 ml Fill the water tank (J) with fresh water. Plug in the connection plug. Ensure that the espresso machine has been switched on or in standby mode. Exit standby mode by pressing the brew button (B) or opening the lever (A). Your espresso machine is ready to be used when the brew button (B) is lit up and not flashing If the machine is turned off, press the ON/OFF button (I) and wait until the small light on the brew button (B) is on and stops flashing. Open the lever (A) fully and insert an espresso capsule. Then, close the lever (A) fully. Single button press will deliver approx. 40 ml espresso. Double button press will deliver approx. 110ml lungo. Please note the second press must be done within 2 seconds of the first press. The brewing cycle can be stopped at anytime by pressing the brew button. To customize your espresso, press and hold the brew button for desired amount. Espresso flow can be interrupted by releasing the brew button The espresso capsule is automatically ejected when the lever (A) is fully opened. NOTE: The capsule container has space for approx MARTELLO espresso capsule. Please empty it, after espressos. Otherwise the lever can not be closed. NOTE! The device is intended for normal household use. The machine can be overheated if you prepare more than 10 espresso repeatedly. The capsule container (E) and drip tray (H) must be emptied and rinsed out regularly. NOTE! Using the machine when the water tank is empty is not recommended! Stilista PRIMEO 9

11 EN STAND-BY MODE Stand-by mode extends the life of your MARTELLO Espresso Capsule System. For a longer lifetime of your MARTELLO espresso machine, it will automatically switch into the stand-by mode after 9 minutes of inactivity or non-use after the last coffee output. 1 2 ON min STAND BY The espresso machine is turned on and one or more espressos are generated. If you do not use the machine within 9 minutes, it automatically starts the stand-by mode. If the light is blinking dimly, the machine is in the standby mode. Exit standby mode by pressing the brew button (B) or opening the lever (A). Your espresso machine is ready to be used when the brew button (B) is lit up and stops flashing. If you want to switch off the espresso machine completely, then press the ON / OFF button (I) to the OFF o position. Stilista PRIMEO 11

12 CLEANING THE UNIT EN WARNING: Any traces of lime (naturally present in the water) may seriously compromise correct operation of the machine. Carefully read the instructions. Never use vinegar Press the Power switch (I) to turn the unit OFF o. Remove the water tank (J) and carefully hand wash and rinse out the water tank thoroughly and fill with fresh drinking water. Empty and rinse out the used capsule container (E), drip tray (F), upper cup (G) and the lower cup (H). Make sure there are no capsules in the capsule compartment (E). 5 6 Make sure the lever is lowered (A). Press and hold brew button until water tank is empty to flush system. Please note that machine will only dispense approx. 300 ml at one time, so press and hold brew button again and repeat until tank is empty. 12 Stilista PRIMEO

13 EN DESCALING WARNING: Any traces of lime scale (naturally present in the water) may seriously compromise correct operation of the machine. The manufacturer recommend descaling regularly, at least once a month. IMPORTANT: The company will not be held responsible for intervention covered by a warranty for espresso machines that are broken or do not work correctly due to the fact that the user has not carried out the descaling procedure. Carefully read the instructions. Never use vinegar. Do not interrupt the decalcification procedure until it has been completed Press the Power switch (I) to turn the unit OFF o. Fill the water tank (J) with 0.8 l warm water ( F) and place back on the espresso machine. Take a mild decalcifying tablet (purchase at your local retailer) and put into the water tank. Place a large cup on the drip tray grid (G). Press the brew-button (B). Repeat the process until you go through half of the water (approx. 0.4 l) in the watertank After 20 minutes the machine will go into Stand-By Mode, press the brew button (B) or open the lever to activate. Run the remainder of the water through the machine. Remove the water tank (J) and rinse thoroughly. Fill the water tank (J) with 0.8 l warm water ( F) and place back onto the espresso machine. Run one full tank of water through the espresso machine to rinse. Stilista PRIMEO 13

14 TROUBLE SHOOTING EN No function Make sure the power cord is properly inserted into the unit and wall outlet and the On/Off button (I) on the left of the machine is turned on. The espresso dispensing nozzle (D) is clogged. To clean, follow the instructions in the cleaning section. If the indicator light stays on but coffee doesn t flow out of the machine. The loaded espresso capsule can be damaged. Wait for a short period of time, before opening the lever and then try with a new capsule. Make sure, that the lever (A) is closed completely. The capsule container may be full and should be removed from the unit for at least 5 seconds to reset the counter and emtpy the used capsules. Water under the machine Make sure that the water tank (J) is installed correctly. CAUTION: When refilling the water tank (J), always turn off the power, and then remove the tank and fill it. Otherwise water will leak from the back of the unit. The espresso machine is whistling softly. This is not a fault, but normal setting of the pressure control valve. Produced little or no Crema. Coffee has natural occurring oils which may clog the espresso nozzle. To clean, regularly run a brew cycle with water only. The water does not flow through the espresso dispensing nozzle (D). When is the espresso machine ready for use? The espresso machine takes approximately 30 seconds to heat up. 15 EN FAQ - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What are the espresso machine default settings? The MARTELLO Stilista Primeo Capsule System is preprogrammed with two settings. A single button press will deliver a 40 ml espresso. A double button press will deliver a 110 ml lungo. The second button press of the double press must be within 2 seconds of the first button press. You can also customize your drink by holding the brew button for desired amount for a maximum output of 300 ml. What happens if another key is pressed during distribution of the brew cycle? 17 RECIPES with MARTELLO CAFÈ RECIPES with MARTELLO CAFÈ RECIPES LATTE MACCHIATO 40 ml MARTELLO - Ristretto 210 ml milk First heat/froth the milk with your milk frother MARTELLO My Milky Pro. Fill the glass with the milk and foam and let it rest for about 60 seconds. Now put the glass under the coffee outlet of your MARTELLO espresso machine and let the coffee pour into the glass, so that the coffee builds a layer between milk and milk foam. VANILLA CAPPUCCINO 1 tbsp of vanilla sugar 50 ml milk 40 ml MARTELLO - Crema Gusto Some cocoa powder Heat/froth the milk with your milk frother MARTELLO My milky Pro. Then add vanilla sugar to the milk and stir it. Prepare your long Espresso from your MARTELLO espresso machine as shown in the instruction manual. Now pour the milk and foam into the coffee mug, on top of the long Espresso. Finally put some cocoa powder on top. COFFEE BLACK & WHITE 110 ml MARTELLO - Café Grande 100 ml whipping cream 2 tsp (teaspoon) sugar 2 tbsp (tablespoon) coffee beans (whole) Soak and chill the coffee beans overnight in whipping cream. The next day strain the cream, add sugar and whip the cream. Pour your MARTELLO Cafe Grande Lungo and put the whipped cream on top. AFFOGATO 1 scoop of Vanilla ice cream 110 ml MARTELLO Gourmet Gold Brew the coffee from your MARTELLO espresso machine into a big cup of coffee. Add a scoop of ice cream and enjoy! 18 RECIPES with MARTELLO CAFÈ RECIPES with MARTELLO CAFÈ RECIPES wit CHOCOLATE DREAM 110 ml MARTELLO - Café Grande Whipped cream Some dark chocolate Chocolate sauce: 150 g dark chocolate 1 tbsp of vanilla sugar 0,3 l whipping cream Chocolate sauce: Melt chocolate in a bain-marie. Add vanilla sugar and whipped cream. Do not heat up more than 60 C. Put Chocolate sauce and sugar in a cup. Fill up cup with MARTELLO coffee and put whipped cream on top. Garnish the cream with some chocolate flakes rasped with a grater. CARAMEL LATTE MACCHIATO For the caramel: 100 g sugar 40 g butter 150 ml whipping cream For the coffee: 40 ml MARTELLO - Gourmet Gold 150 ml milk (3,5 % fat) 2 tbsp. (tablespoon) Caramel sauce Melt sugar in a small pot until it turns brown, take it off the stove and add butter and whipping cream, stir it and cook shortly. Heat up and froth the milk with your frother MARTELLO My Milky Pro. Put approximately 2 tbsp. of caramel sauce into a glass, add the milk and leave for 60 sec. Now add the coffee from the MARTELLO espresso machine to the glass so that the coffee builds a layer between the milk and milk foam. Finally put some caramel sauce on top of the milk foam. ICE-COFFEE 2x 110 ml cold MARTELLO - Ristretto some whipping cream some chocolate flakes/fluffs 2-3 scoops of Vanilla ice cream Put the Vanilla ice cream into a slim, high glass, pour the MARTELLO coffee Ristretto on the ice cream, put cream on top and add some chocolate flakes/fluffs. 18 Stilista PRIMEO

19 ARTELLO CAFÈ RECIPES with MARTELLO CAFÉ RECIPES with MARTELLO CHOCO-NUT KISS 20 ml chocolate liquor 110 ml MARTELLO - Café Grande 1 tsp (teaspoon) Nutella 1 tbsp. (tablespoon) hazelnuts (whole) 2 tsp (teaspoon) sugar whipping cream Chop hazelnuts and mix them with the sugar. Put chocolate liquor and Nutella into a glass, pour the coffee from your MARTELLO espresso machine also into the glass, add the whipped cream and sprinkle it with the hazelnuts. IRISH COFFEE 20 ml Irish Whiskey 2-3 tsp (teaspoon) brown sugar 110 ml MARTELLO - Crema Gusto 40 ml whipping cream some chocolate flakes/fluffs or cocoa Warm up 20 ml Irish Whiskey a bit, pour into a glass and stir with 2-3 teaspoons of brown sugar. Fill up the glass with the MARTELLO coffee and add a nice cream topping, letting the cream (just lightly whipped) drop over the back of a spoon so that the cream does not submerge. Now garnish with chocolate flakes/fluffs or cocoa and enjoy! BAILEYS COFFEE 20 ml Baileys 110 ml MARTELLO - Café Grande whipped cream 2 tsp. (teaspoon) sugar Pour MARTELLO coffee into a cup. Put liquor on top, add the sugar to the coffee-liquor mix and stir it, then add whipped cream on top and enjoy! Stilista PRIMEO 19
