2 PRODUCTION HISTORY THE HISTORY OF TORREFAZIONE MORANDINI (CAFFÈ MORANDINI, COFFEE ROASTING COMPANY) DATES BACK TO THE LATE 1960 S, when Romolo Morandini ( ) met the owner of a small shop, where coffee was roasted, situated near Garibaldi Square in Brescia, during his shopping trips with his father Pietro, a baker, to this town. This gentleman introduced him into the coffee roasting world and Romolo got so fascinated by it that he decided this was going to be his future as well, definitely his profession. He therefore suitably equipped a room in his basement, he purchased a roaster (a Vittoria, a 5 kg wooden-burning machine, now displayed at the company premises) and gave origin to this new enterprise, setting the path in the wonderful coffee world. He inevitably passed on his passion to his sons, Pietro and Vigilio, the today owners, who have been devoting themselves to this profession and company since 1992 with never-ending enthusiasm and total commitment, thus taking it to levels of excellence, as certified by the several international awards and achievements. MISSION The targets achieved by Torrefazione Morandini (Caffè Morandini) confirm how important it is to aim to quality as product culture. We believe that deservedly reaching a goal does not mean stop and enjoy success, but immediately get back to action, strongly encouraging the choice of new challenges, being aware that strong will, humility and proper abilities and attitudes are essential to face them. One of the main valuable features of our company is that it is a family-run business with a high quality craft production system, aiming to combine an Italian style product with the most advanced technologies. That is why in July 2012 we inaugurated a fully automated roasting plant, complying with the rules concerning the abatement of dust and fumes, making us one of the most advanced companies in the sector. QUALITY Pursuing the goal of manufacturing a high quality product in the coffee industry is a very difficult path to follow, as the supply and production chain may be subject to significant variables. This is why our attention is continuously focused on producing a coffee in compliance with all proper organo- leptic quality standards from washed Robusta and Arabica species coming from Central and South America. ROASTING All coffees with different origins are individually treated according to the so-called slow roasting system (15/20 minutes long), automatically changing the output time of the batch, according to the specifications of each quality. Coffee then rests for at least 10 days (degasification process), before passing to the preparation of the blend and afterwards to packing and distribution.

3 BIO CAFFÈ 100 % ARABICA BLEND, OBTAINED FROM ORGANIC AND FAIRTRADE FARMING IN SOUTH AND CENTRAL AMERICA. This product is labelled with the FAIRTRADE certificate (FLO ID: 23718), the only authorisation granted in the fair trade business, stating that it is made of coffee produced by companies that safeguard working conditions of their employees. The coffee with such certificate is obtained from organic farming and has been grown completely excluding synthetic chemicals and fully respecting the environment. It is a 100 % high-quality Arabica blend, in which the fragrant bouquet of the Ethiopian highlands is blended with the full-bodied aroma of the coffee grown in the South American plateaus. These selected origins, the accurate processing and the very slow toasting lend this blend a very delicate acidity, a balanced body and an aromatic taste, which pleasantly fills the palate with a light scent of citrus fruits. Biocaffè is perfect for an afternoon break accompanied by a bit of dark chocolate. ORGANIC BLEND Fairtrade certified coffee coming from 100 % Fairtrade certified producers. This means fairer trade conditions and opportunities for producers in developing countries to invest in their businesses and communities for a sustainable future. Our 100 % Arabica Biocaffè is grown completely excluding synthetic chemicals and fully respecting the environment. Only organic fertilizers and natural minerals are used for fertilization, whereas products and systems of natural origin and with a low environmental impact are employed for the prevention of parasitic diseases. ALL THIS TO ENSURE A HEALTHY PRODUCT OF HIGHEST QUALITY. ORGANIC FAIRTRADE COFFEE 80 % of the coffee we daily drink has been grown by 25 million small producers in rural areas of Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia and Indonesia. Instability of market prices, daily increasing production costs, the lack of basic services (schools, hospitals, transport means, electric power) along with climate changes, make people s work harder day by day. The Fairtrade certification assures the producers a minimum reasonable price and a higher margin to invest in developing projects for the community. It also promotes sustainable farming practices and conversion to organic agriculture by granting an additional margin for this product type. Coffee producers currently members of the fair trade system are united in 402 organisations. About 75% of them come from Peru, Colombia, Mexico and the rest from all Latin America. Our organic Fairtrade certified coffee is available in supermarkets, hypermarkets, discounts, organic food stores, bars, coffee shops, hotels and restaurants. Available packages are: Moka 250 gr. ground coffee, 500 gr. coffee grains and 18 coffee pods.

4 FAIRTRADE IN THE WORLD THE FAIRTRADE MARK The FAIRTRADE Certification Mark is an independent consumer label which appears on products to signify that Fairtrade standards have been met. When you buy products with this Mark disadvantaged producers get a better deal. For Fairtrade certified goods, producers receive prices aimed at covering the cost of sustainable production, the Fairtrade Price. They also get an additional sum, called the Fairtrade Premium, for social, environmental and economic development. A Fairtrade commissioned survey of over 10,000 consumers across 17 countries shows that the international FAIRTRADE Certification Mark is the most widely known ethical label. For a product to display the FAIRTRADE Certification Mark it must meet international Fairtrade Standards. Producer organizations supplying Fairtrade Products are then certified against these standards by FLOCERT, a separate certification body, owned by Fairtrade International, which carries out regular audits and inspections. FAIRTRADE STANDARDS FAIRTRADE STANDARDS ARE DESIGNED TO TACKLE POVERTY AND EMPOWER PRODUCERS IN THE POOREST COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD. BASED ON THE INTERNATIONAL LABOUR ORGANISATION (ILO) CONVENTIONS, FAIRTRADE STANDARDS INCLUDE: NO FORCED OR CHILD LABOUR, HEALTH AND SAFETY MEASURES, NON-DISCRIMINATORY POLICIES, FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING, NATIONALLY AGREED MINIMUM WAGES, AND ACCESS TO BASIC SERVICES. IN ADDITION TO THAT ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS FOCUS ON FARMING METHODS THAT ARE SUSTAINABLE AND SAFE. AMONGST THEM: PROTECTION OF SENSITIVE NATURAL AREAS, MINIMISED AND SAFE USE OF AGROCHEMICALS AND BAN OF PROHIBITED PESTICIDES, SAFE AND SUSTAINABLE HANDLING OF WASTE AND WATER, AND NO USE OF GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISMS (GMOS).
