9 FUTURE PLANS Strong, effective international and national platforms are established which function globally as a reference for Technical Assistance (TA) on sustainable agriculture Training materials and programs are jointly developed and implemented, addressing the real needs of producers and identifying best practices for sustainable production and trade. Strong policy linkage and influence for SCAN and its partners is created
10 FUTURE PLANS SCAN successfully expands geographically and across sectors (with 6 national platforms established and working in both the coffee and cocoa sector). The delivery and acceptance of standards and certification/ verification programs is strengthened SCAN has a strong resource base to achieve its objectives
11 II. SCAN IN VIET NAM By partnering with key local institutions, SCAN s work is integrated into national curriculum and extension activities, greatly enhancing its reach, impact and sustainability. SCAN uses the Committee on Sustainability Assessment (COSA), for independent, internationally recognized impact assessment: thecosa.org and ITC s database, SustainabilityXchange to store and make SCAN s training material globally accessible : sustainabilityxchange.info. 19 TRAINING MANUAL AND TOOLS ON SUSTAINABLE COFFEE PRODUCTION TRAINING TOOLS Includes concise informa'on on the content of the 6 units aimed at providing exper'se to trainers. Training tools are only supplied to the trainers. - Each lesson is designed according to the flip chart system in size A0. - Trainers can use the flip charts to illustrate when teaching as in tradi3onal classes, on the field. - The flip chart system provides trainers illustra3ve images and some of the most basic content that the students need to remember through images or tables and charts.
20 TRAINING MANUAL AND TOOLS ON SUSTAINABLE COFFEE PRODUCTION FOR PRODUCERS Includes informabon from the 6 modules in order to provide experbse to producers and farmers. Contains the most succinct and intui3ve knowledge to help students memorize the contents they were trained on and to use them at home whenever they need to as reference. Depending on the design of the training, trainers can print out documents according to each unit and content and provide them to the trainees. The materials for producers were designed in the following format: ü Independent Leaflets of each unit are in a set of 6 units ü With this method, trainers and support programs for farmers can save on costs because they only need to print out the part of the document related to the lectures that they teach and thus guarantee the content and form.
21 TRAINING MANUAL AND TOOLS ON SUSTAINABLE COFFEE PRODUCTION FOR PRODUCERS The material is focused on using visual images to support trainers and learners: Helping trainers to reduce training prepara3on and content design. The support program encourages farmers to widely use this document and a so^ copy will be provided to allow prin3ng of large quan33es to use in training ac3vi3es. A so^ copy of this document can be downloaded from the Na3onal Agricultural Extension Center website: h`p:// and in the Informa3on Portal Suppor3ng CDC farmers: h`p://cdc.org.vn/index.php/vi/cong-thong-3n. Prin3ng a large number of copies without permission is possible when used for non-commercial purposes.
