10 CELEBRATE DRY, ECO FRIENDLY HOLI WITH ORGANIC COLOURS! Holi is synonymous with smiles, gaiety and colours. However, the harsh chemicals used in colours can put a dampener on your spirits. So, raid your kitchen to conjure up some homemade Holi colours. Here are a few easy techniques to make 100% organic and natural colours at home that will make your Holi memorable and absolutely safe. Red Sandal Wood Powder, which has a beautiful red colour, is extremely beneficial for the skin and can be used in place of Red Gulal. Slice or grate one beetroot and soak it in 1 litre of water for a wonderful magenta. Boil or leave overnight for a deeper shade and dilute it before use. Mix two teaspoons of Turmeric powder with double the quantity of gram flour. Turmeric and gram flour have magical qualities that are very good for the skin. Dry Jacaranda flowers (neeli gulmohar/jungle badam) in the shade and grind them to obtain a beautiful blue powder. Save a trip to the parlour by using green coloured henna powder (mehendi) this Holi. Either use it separately or mix it with an equal quantity of any suitable flour to get a lovely and natural green shade. Make sure to use pure henna that does not have amla mixed in it, as this would be brown in colour.

11 Chocolate Fondue Valentine Recipe Fondue combines all the sophisticated allure of deep, dark chocolate with the childish thrill of playing with your food. Strawberries and pound cake are classic accompaniments, but feel free to experiment with anything from pretzels to papaya. Ingredients 8 ounces semi or bittersweet chocolate 1 cup heavy cream PREPARATION TIME minutes 2 tablespoons brandy (optional) fruit cake cubed french bread and other accompaniments 1. Chop chocolate into small (1/4 ) pieces using a sturdy strong chef s knife or food processor. or. Place chocolate olate in a medium, heat-proof bowl. 2. In a small saucepan an bring cream to a full boil. (Watch closely, since cream can boil over in an instant if left unsupervised.) up 3. Remove from heat and pour the hot cream over the chocolate. 4. Let sit for one minute, then whisk until evenly combined and smooth. (If the chocolate does not melt fully, microwave at 20-second intervals, stirring in between.) en.) 5. Whisk corn syrup and brandy into the warm ganache. 6. Pour the warm mixture into a fondue pot and serve with fruit and other items for dipping.
