3 WELCOME It s a delight to welcome you to take our world-famous afternoon tea at Bettys. Faithful to the classic combination of sandwiches, warmed scones and exquisite cakes, our Lady Betty Afternoon Tea exemplifies our craft skills, imagination and finesse. At the centre of the tradition of taking afternoon tea is the tea itself. Our tea experts have travelled across continents in search of the most outstanding loose leaf teas. We have sourced rare teas from estates in famed regions such as Assam and Darjeeling and created our own blends, including our exclusive new Afternoon Tea Blend. We choose the finest ingredients and search for the best local suppliers to create delicious savouries and sandwiches, freshly baked scones and irresistible cakes. Your afternoon tea is served on a traditional silver cake stand with our bespoke bone china, whose intricate tea leaf design is inspired by a 1919 motif found in the archives of our bone china supplier, Royal Crown Derby.
4 AFTERNOON TEA APPETISER PRAWN COCKTAIL Prawns in Marie Rose Sauce with avocado pureé, crisp Little Gem lettuce and a sprinkling of paprika. SAVOURY SELECTION SMOKED SALMON, CREAM CHEESE AND DILL ROULADE Made with freedom-farmed Scottish salmon, served on a wholemeal croute. MINIATURE PORK & APPLE PIE Made with outdoor-reared Yorkshire pork, rosemary, thyme and bramley apple. SANDWICHES ROAST YORKSHIRE HAM AND TOMATO PÂTÉ With mixed leaves on sun-blushed tomato bread. CORONATION CHICKEN Made with free-range chicken in spiced yoghurt dressing on pumpkin seed bread. EGG MAYONNAISE A classic combination, made with free-range eggs and cress on wholemeal bread. SCONES Freshly baked for you throughout the day. SULTANA SCONE Made to a deliciously buttery recipe and filled with plump sultanas. YORKSHIRE LAVENDER SCONE Delicately flavoured with Wolds Way Lavender, grown in North Yorkshire. Some of our menu items are created from ingredients which do not contain gluten, please ask for details. 5 MINIATURE CAKES The following cakes will be served with each afternoon tea for two. GRAND CRU CHOCOLATE AND RASPBERRY SQUARE Rich, dark Grand Cru chocolate mousse, cloaked in colourful cocoa butter and finished with raspberry and chopped pistachio. APPLE CARAMEL MACAROON A dainty macaroon hand-decorated with an exquisite sugar flower, sandwiched with apple pâte de fruit and caramel buttercream. CHOCOLATE AND PRALINE SLICE Layers of hazelnut crunch, chocolate brownie and a light praline mousse with a dark chocolate glaze, topped with a roasted hazelnut. FRESH BERRY MERINGUE Delicate meringue filled with whipped fresh cream and mixed berries, finished with a white chocolate lattice. MINIATURE BATTENBURG Almond sponge cake encased with strawberry preserve and soft marzipan. COFFEE RELIGIEUSE A choux pastry bun filled with coffee crème Diplomat on a crisp sable biscuit, topped with a sweet choux pastry crisp CHAMPAGNE AFTERNOON TEA Lady Betty Afternoon Tea served with a 125ml glass of either: HÉBRART MOUTARD ROSÉ KIR PREMIER CRU CHAMPAGNE Alc.12% vol. GOLDEN VALLEY DARJEELING Grown in the misty heights of the historic Marybong Garden, situated in the picturesque Golden Valley in Darjeeling, India, this unique variety is infused with the magic of its origins. Every sip imparts a flowery delicacy born of its elevated Himalayan home. CEYLON BLUE SAPPHIRE From Sri Lanka, this fine tea is decorated with blue cornflower petals to represent the island s famous sapphires. It is deliciously smooth with a honeyed character.
