Name: Date: Period: Comparing Quantities Using Ratios, Rates, Fractions and Percent Shade in your Level of Understanding on the topic named in the title: 0 I cannot do it. 1 I need help. 2 I can mostly do it. 3 I can do it. 4 I can teach the class. Directions: You are throwing a party for all of your friends over Spring Break. In order to plan for the party, you decided to survey your friends to see what food they would like to be served. You asked all 128 of your DISCOVERY teammates what food they would prefer at the party. Your results are displayed below. Use this information to fill in the blanks. Food Choice Number of Boys Total Students Pizza Hamburgers Chicken Fingers The ratio of boys that prefer pizza to boys that prefer chicken fingers is about to About as many students prefer chicken fingers to hamburgers. 3. The fraction of students that prefer hamburgers is. 4. percent of students that prefer pizza were boys. 5. percent of students that prefer pizza were girls.
Use the table below to find the unit rate (price per item) for each option. You will need to use the menus to Gabby s Gourmet Grille and Pete s Pizzeria that are attached to this packet. Gabby s Gourmet Grille Pete s Pizzeria Plain Pizza Hamburgers Chicken Fingers At Pete s pizzeria, Pete marks up the price of the pizzas in order to make a profit. If the supplies to make each pizza only costs Pete $2.30, how much is the markup on the pizzas? What percent of the buying price is the markup? Pete really wants to sell pizza pies. He says he will give you a 5% commission of the selling price if you can get MTMS to buy pizza for the entire school. If you buy 300 pizza pies for the school, it would cost $2,490. What is your commission?
Scaling and Comparing Ratios and Unit Rates Shade in your Level of Understanding on the topic named in the title: 0 I cannot do it. 1 I need help. 2 I can mostly do it. 3 I can do it. 4 I can teach the class. You are making your grandma s, Flo s, famous fruit punch to serve at the party. You have to go shopping to get all the ingredients for the following recipe. Grandma Flo s Famous Fruit Punch 2 (6-ounce) cans frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed 2 (6-ounce) cans frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed 1 (48-ounce) can pineapple juice 3 cups water 3 cups sugar 27 strawberries, hulled 1 (1-liter) bottle lemon-lime soda (recommended: Sprite) ShopRite sells strawberries at fifteen for $3.45. Complete the rate table below to help you determine how much 27 strawberries will cost. Number of Strawberries Cost $3.45 Using this information, write an equation that relates the number of strawberries, n and the cost C. What is the constant of proportionality? How do you know? How much will it cost you to buy 27 strawberries for Grandma Flo s Famous Fruit Punch?
The amount of fruit juice concentrate was smudged off Grandma s recipe so you have no idea how much to add. You decide to make a two different batches to determine which has the strongest flavor. In the first batch, you use 3 1 cups of fruit juice concentrate and 8 cups of water. In the second batch, you use 5 1 cups of 2 2 fruit juice concentrate and 12 cups of water. The stronger of the two mixtures is Grandma Flo s famous fruit punch. a) Which mixture is Grandma Flo s famous fruit punch? b) How many cups of fruit juice concentrate do you need to use when you have 24 cups of water to make Grandma Flo s Famous Fruit Punch? Show all your work and explain your answer. c) Grandma Flo tries to make a famous recipe for pink lemonade. She creates a mixture containing 40% concentrate and 60% water. If she has 15 cups, how many of the cups are concentrate, and how many cups are water? Don t forget to label your answers!
Name: Date: Period: Finding a Percent of a Number Shade in your Level of Understanding on the topic named in the title: 0 I cannot do it. 1 I need help. 2 I can mostly do it. 3 I can do it. 4 I can teach the class. To make sure you are budgeting correctly for your party, you have to make sure you take sales tax into consideration. In New Jersey, you pay 7% sales tax on items. 1. a. When you buy the ingredients to make your chocolate chip cookies, the cost is $ You have a coupon that gives you 15% off. What is the new cost of your ingredients? b. Once you have found your total cost, you have to pay sales tax. What is the total cost of your items including sales tax? 2. You ordered 300 pizzas from Pete s Pizzeria that cost $2,490. How much money do you owe Pete s Pizzeria including tax?
3. a. You know Party Fair marks up their decorations 20%. If you spent $150 on decorations (selling price), what was the buying price of the decorations? b. How much were the decorations marked up? 4. a. You can t remember what you spent at ShopRite for the Fruit Punch supplies. You know you paid $4.50 in sales tax (which is 7%). Use this information to help you solve for the cost of the ShopRite items. b. What was the total amount spent at ShopRite?
