2 The Mosimann Collection Food was my earliest influence. I can still smell the wonderful aroma of freshly picked apricots it was fantastic, recalls Chef Anton Mosimann. Born in 1947 in Switzerland, Anton spent his early years in Nidau, near Biel helping his parents in their restaurant. He began his cooking apprenticeship aged fifteen and, ten years later, received the coveted Chef de Cuisine Diploma. Aged just 28, he was appointed Maître Chef de Cuisine at the Dorchester in London the youngest ever to hold this position. During his thirteen-year tenure Anton was awarded two Michelin stars, a first for a hotel restaurant outside France. During this time he created a new style of cooking which he christened Cuisine Naturelle, an innovative blend of healthy eating and the finest gastronomic experience. In 1988 Anton acquired a Scottish Presbyterian church and created Mosimann s, a private members club in London s Belgravia. He also established Mosimann s Party Service, for which he has held the Royal Warrant of Appointment to HRH The Prince of Wales for Catering Services since He opened The Mosimann Academy offering an enviable list of cookery courses and an exceptional library with over 6,000 culinary books, the earliest in this unique collection dates back to Today most of these titles are exhibited within The Mosimann Collection. Anton has cooked for four Presidents of the United States of America, all of the British Royal Family, five British prime ministers and most of Europe s heads of state. In January 2004, he received the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by H.M. Queen Elizabeth II. The Mosimann Collection offers an opportunity to see beyond Anton s achievements to the man himself. His innovative, vibrant dishes can be seen as reflections of his appreciation of art, with the collection featuring paintings and sculptures by artists such as Le Boucher Corpaato, Marc Reist, Margrit Burkhard and Jean Tinguely. His creativity also mirrors his enthusiasm for music and The Collection pays a special tribute to his friend and founder of the Montreux Jazz Festival, the late Claude Nobs, who was also a trained chef. The Art of Anton Mosimann (to borrow the title of one of his many acclaimed books) reflects Anton s early vision to create and share an inspiring collection of culinary heritage with students from Swiss Education Group and the world. 4 th June
