3 Natick Cart is open from 7am to 930am Our cart is located right outside of the cafeteria, in the path of students when they enter the building in the morning, when they switch classes and when they enter or exit the cafeteria. NHS has no substitute teachers, all students in classes without teachers gather in the cafeteria, so there is constant travel by the cart. 3

Underutilized but it had potential Letter explaining breakfast program sent in September plus info on back of monthly menu helped What worked?? 14

15 West Bridgewater Timing is EVERYTHING Morning bell is 8:00 am Café is open before where students gather in café but almost ZERO interest 2 nd chance - Students break right after specialist (music, art, band, computers) at: o9:10 am, 9:50 am and 9:58 am Snack is open ended (within reason) 15

No cash in line, student hand in money in homeroom Charge policy allows for borrowing for reimbursable meals (no limit) Absolutely no borrowing for a la carte Guarantees that no student goes hungry Easier to collect money from parents when they know student received a breakfast 21

23 West Bridgewater The morning breakfast program at the Howard School has helped many of our students, who wouldn't ordinarily have breakfast. With the flexibility of the teachers and food service staff, we have organized a schedule which allows all children the opportunity to purchase breakfast and enjoy it in their classrooms. Some students bring a snack from home and they all eat together. Teachers have adjusted their schedules to have this time be a "working snack", or perhaps a read aloud time, but we are confident that all students have access to a balanced breakfast and many are taking advantage of that. o Peggy Spencer, MEd, CAGS, School Principal, Spring Street and Howard School 23

24 Greenfield Financial benefits we found to Breakfast in the Classroom: 1. Engage with a population of students who may currently not have any exposure to the School Nutrition Programs. 2. Dramatically increase student participation in breakfast and therefore see an increase in federal reimbursement. 24
