3 Map and Directions from Beltway Woodrow Wilson Bridge From the Washington Beltway: Take Maryland-210 Indian Head Highway (one exit inside Maryland from the Woodrow Wilson Bridge) South toward Indian Head. Take MD-210 approximately 20 miles south from the Beltway to Indian Head MD. MD-210 will dead end at the main gate to the NSWC Indian Head. For visitors who do not have a CAC card or a military ID, you will need a visitor pass. The pass office is located to the right of the main gate. NSWC Indian Head is located south of Washington, DC on a 3,500-acre peninsula in Charles County, Maryland. Great seafood, rich history, top-flight golf, first-class fishing and acres and acres of some of the most beautiful forestland on the East Coast can be found in Charles County. Charles County is rich in the history of our nation... come and visit the Dr. Mudd House where John Wilkes Booth s broken leg was set by Dr. Mudd after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Thomas Stone, signer of the Declaration of Independence, General William Smallwood, Revolutionary Commander of the Maryland Line, Smallwood s Retreat, and James Craik, a physician to George Washington, were all residents of Charles County. All of these and many more historical treasures abound in and around the beautiful countryside of Charles County, Maryland.
