2 1 HOSPITALITY & CATERING Hospitality and catering is a truly international industry providing countless job opportunities at home and abroad. The sector consisting of all types of establishment providing food, drink or accommodation has grown significantly over the past decade and is currently crying out for qualified staff. If you believe you re in your element delivering a professional service, or if you thrive in a busy kitchen, Sussex Coast College Hastings is an excellent starting point for your career. You will be taught by industry professionals in our fantastic training kitchen and restaurant. Experience matters, so as well as offering a huge amount of in-house practice, we have the links to arrange work placements, exchange trips and the opportunity to shine in regional and national competitions. FEE FREEZE! 2012 prices on all courses * * Excludes L3+ provision for learners aged 24+ who take out a loan for their training. Listed fees indicate the full cost of the course *. However, some courses show a little number next to the fee (e.g ). This number means you may be eligible for reduced fees. * Please see 24+ section below. However, you will be eligible to apply for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan. FEE FREEZE 24+ icon indicates courses that are eligible for this Loan. These courses may have a higher fee than stated due to changes in government funding. This would be payable back once your annual income is above 21,000 per annum. 3 HOSPITALITY & CATERING 2 Level 2 Award in Barista Skills NEW Code: Start date: 04/11/2013 Time: 6-9pm Duration: 5 weeks Fee: 85 Do you want to become a barista or gain a qualification that recognises your skills? You ll gain the knowledge and skills needed to prepare and serve hot and cold drinks in multiple settings. In order to practise making drinks in your own time, we suggest that you have access to an espresso machine. Basic Cake Decoration Code: Start date: 11/11/2013 Time: 6-9pm Duration: 4 weeks Fee: 70 Learn how to decorate beautiful cakes with the basic skills such as covering, icing and simple piping. Decorating ingredients will be supplied and you will need to provide cakes and bring some of your own equipment. Intermediate Cake Decoration Code: Start date: 13/01/2014 Time: 6-9pm Duration: 6 weeks Fee: 90 Learn how to decorate beautiful cakes with advanced skills such as covering, icing and simple piping. Decorating ingredients will be supplied and you will need to provide cakes and bring some of your own equipment. Family Baking for Easter Code: Start date: 29/03/2014 Time: 10am pm Duration: 1 day Fee: 0 Have fun baking with the kids. You will bake and decorate delicious recipes such as biscuits, buns or Simnel cake. Don t forget your aprons! A maximum of two children per adult, suitable for age 6 upwards. Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering Code: Start date: 19/10/2013 Time: 9am - 4pm Duration: 1 day Fee: 75 This Royal Society for Public Health accredited qualification equips food handlers, chefs, business owners or managers with the knowledge to maintain good practice in the safe handling, processing and preparation of food. To gain the qualification you must take a 40-minute exam. Group bookings could receive a discount. You will learn the following: hot and cold desserts and puddings, biscuits, cake and sponge products, paste products and fermented dough products. VRQ Level 2 Food Preparation and Cooking Code: 3718 Start date: 24/09/2013 Time: 9am pm Duration: 34 weeks Fee: 810 1/4/6/7 This course will suit well-motivated individuals who have an interest in becoming a chef in the hospitality industry. You will study a range of modules including: soups, vegetables, sauces, meat, poultry, fish, pastry, stores duties, customer care, hygiene and health and safety. Personal License Holders BIIAB Level 2 Award NEW Code: Start date: Roll on roll off Time: 9am - 3pm Duration: 1 day Fee: 150 This course is a nationally recognised qualification for anyone authorising the sale of alcohol on any premises. You will learn about current licensing legislation and policies. Coast Training Restaurant is a formal dining restaurant open to the public and staffed by our students. We cater for special event functions, individual reservations and, during the warmer months, offer a more casual style of dining on our glorious balcony.
