All samples imported under this permit to import are for testing and research only. No viable microorganisms are to be extracted or reconstituted from any of this material or its derivatives. 2. No samples are to be propagated or held in permanent storage. 3. The quantity of each consignment of fresh kiwifruit from China, Italy, Japan or Korea is unlimited, but fruit must be packaged in separate lots, with each lot containing a maximum of 30 fruits. Only one lot is to be open in the laboratory at any one time. Kiwifruit from China, Italy, Japan or Korea do not require freezing as specified in condition 7 below, but the contingency procedures of the quality operating system must be immediately accessible throughout the analysis. 4. The quantity of each consignment of Avocado fruit from Chile, Columbia, Peru or South Africa is unlimited, but fruit must be packaged in separate lots, with each lot containing a maximum of 30 fruits. Only one lot is to be open in the laboratory at any one time. Avocado fruit from Chile, Columbia, Peru or South Africa do not require freezing as specified in condition 7 below, but the contingency procedures of the quality operating system must be immediately accessible throughout the analysis. 5. On arrival, a representative sample of fresh fruit and any unprocessed plant material must be inspected by an MPI Inspector as described in section 1.9 of the "Dried and Preserved, and Fresh for Testing, Analysis or Research" Import Health Standard to verify that the consignment is free from mobile pests (eg. Insects). 6. Any fresh material considered to be a fruit fly host by the MPI Inspector is to be frozen until the core temperature has been held at (or below) minus 18 degrees Celsius for a minimum of 7 days before being transhipped to the listed transitional facility. NOTE: for the purposes of this permit condition 7 does not apply to immature apple fruitlets from Australia, kiwifruit fruit from China, Italy, Japan, Korea, Peru or Chile, or Avocado fruit from Chile, Columbia, Peru or Page 4 of 5

5 kiwifruit fruit from China, Italy, Japan, Korea, Peru or Chile, or Avocado fruit from Chile, Columbia, Peru or South Africa. GENERAL CONDITIONS 7. On arrival in New Zealand all documents associated with the consignment will be inspected by the MPI Inspector. Documentation must include a complete list of scientific names of all plant samples contained in the consignment. 8. Any material remaining after analysis is to be incinerated/autoclaved for disposal, unless otherwise stated in the operating system with further authorisation from the Facility Inspector. 9. If any conditions of this permit to import cannot be, or are not complied with, the importer may be required by the MPI Inspector to reship or destroy the imported material. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PERMIT HOLDERS AND AGENTS 1 This permit, and compliance with the provisions of the specific import health standard(s) and/or entry conditions, does not guarantee that the goods you import will be given biosecurity clearance. There are other restrictions in sections 27 and 28 of the Biosecurity Act 1993 which apply to the giving of biosecurity clearance. The Biosecurity Act may be accessed at 2 You will need to ensure that the goods you import comply with the provisions of the specific import health standard(s) and/or entry conditions that are applicable. The import health standard may be amended during the course of your permit. Import Management will notify you of any significant changes to the import health standard and will re-issue the permit to accommodate these changes. 3 There are a number of other provisions in the Biosecurity Act 1993 which may affect you. If you commit an offence against the Biosecurity Act 1993, heavy penalties under section 157 of the Act might apply. 4 Apart from the Biosecurity Act 1993, there are other laws relating to or prohibiting the importation of goods. This permit, and compliance with the provisions of the specific import health standard(s) and/or entry conditions, does not absolve you of the need to comply with these laws. 5 Unless specifically identified in 'Description of Items' or 'Special Conditions' of the permit, NO new organisms, including genetically modified organisms, are permitted entry under this permit. 6 All cultures must be: - clearly labelled with the scientific strain and name - consigned in leakproof packaging - free from contaminants 7 All new organisms must not be opened until received by the nominated containment facility.
