2 Pictures of the week A collage I put together of some of my favorite pictures from It was an abundant year! One full of uncertainty this time last year.we were adding a greenhouse (payment$ for the next 3 years), an employee, a new crop (microgreens!), and a BABY. Thanks to an amazing crew, very good growing weather, friends and family that helped keep us alive and fed when Tulsi arrived, and the wonderfully thoughtful eaters that support our farm every week, we count this as our best season yet!
3 This is the citrus hoop house at Randle Farms in Auburn, Alabama. Zach Randle is growing meyer lemons, oranges, satsumas, tangerines, and kumquats in this heated
4 structure. We are so pleased to have access to this local fruit! Assorted citrus will be available this Wednesday at market. Super sweet carrots galore can be found at our winter markets! Cold weather makes carrots sweeter because sugar acts as a natural anti-freeze. The roots make more sugars to protect against freezing. Same goes for leaves such as collards and kale, which is why those are better after a freeze too. See, there is something good that comes from cold weather! Chris and Tulsi in awe of Chris irrigation organizing job. All the rolls behind them are drip tape that we used this year. It was still in good condition so we rolled it up onto pvc spools to be used again next year. It s a good thing Chris got this and some other cleaning/organizing done before the end of the year, because he s got his hands full with constructing a deer fence and tearing down and re-building our wash station. Both have to happen by March, which is when we start to get too busy with growing food to worry with such projects. Also to fit in January and February are attending and presenting at two conferences: SSAWG (Southern Sustainable Agriculture Working Group) and Georgia
5 Organics. Winter is a slower season for us, but not too slow! Where to find our produce and products: -On Farm Market, Wednesdays from 9-12 (every other week in January and February) -Columbus Market on Broadway Saturdays from 9-12 (April through August). -We have a 120 member CSA with drop-off locations in Lagrange, Columbus, and On-farm. -You can also find our produce on the menu of Food Blossoms Catering out of Hamilton. Take good care, Jenny, Chris and Tulsi
