2 Honiley & District Flower, Fruit & Vegetable Autumn Show 2017 SHOW PROGRAMME Staging of exhibits Judging Show opens Tea & homemade cakes Presentation of prizes to include scarecrow competition End of Show auction (time to grab a bargain!) 9-11:30am 12:00pm 2:30pm 2:30pm 4:00pm 4:15pm If you have any surplus produce (fruit, vegetables, eggs, jams, chutneys and flowers) and would like to donate it for our produce stall, please bring along to Wren Hall on the Saturday morning of the Show. 3 Rules 1. All entries are 50p per entry. Junior section is 20p per entry. 2. Prize money only awarded for junior sections 1 st prize 1.75, 2 nd prize 75p and 3 rd prize 50p. 3. All floral arrangements not to exceed 45cm. 4. All entry forms must be submitted by Wednesday 6 th September. 5. The judges will have the power to withhold prizes when the competition is insufficient or the exhibits are deficient in merit and to award additional prizes at their discretion. The judges decisions are final. 6. All exhibits must be the exhibitor s own produce. This does not apply to the Floral Art or the Junior Sections. 7. An exhibitor may enter more than one entry per class. 8. Exhibitors may enter all the classes for which they are eligible. Children may enter any classes and their age will be taken into consideration during judging. 9. All exhibits must be staged between 9am and 11.30am and must not be removed before 4.15pm. 10. In the event of more than one exhibitor gaining the most points to win a cup, it will be at the judge s discretion to select the best exhibitor. 11. Exhibits must not have been entered in any previous Honiley and District Flower, Fruit and Vegetable Shows. 12. Cups and Trophies must be returned one month before the following year s show. 3

Community Card A picture to reflect our community, in any medium, a sketch, painting, photograph. All exhibits will be on display and judged by visitors to the Show. The three pictures with the highest number of votes will be made into greeting cards to be sold to raise funds for Wren Hall. 68. Tallest Sunflower, displayed as a photograph with a family member standing next to the sunflower please state height of the family member and height of sunflower 69. Knitted 6inch/15cm square, any colour/s and any type of knitting, to be judged. All knitted squares will be donated to a charity to be sewn into a blanket Roger Tilley Challenge Cup presented to the exhibitor with the outstanding exhibit 7

8 HINTS FOR EXHIBITORS Pick exhibits as close to show day as possible. Avoid splits, pest or disease damage. Samples, evenly sized and clean. Fruit Leave natural bloom intact, show single variety, and leave some stalk attached. Vegetables Show single variety, display on plate/dish if you wish. Potatoes Equally matched specimens, clean and unblemished Onions, dressed - well ripened bulbs, roots trimmed, tops tied with raffia. Onions, as grown leave roots and tops intact. Carrots and parsnips leave tap root intact and trim foliage back to 3 (7cm). Leeks, as grown leave tops and roots intact. Runner and French beans slender, straight, no prominent seeds, short stalk attached. Tomatoes uniform size and colour, leave calyx (stalk) attached Sweetcorn cylindrical cobs with fresh green husk, intact silks and up to 1 (2.5cm of stalk). Pull down husks and tuck under the cob.
