2 Pear Peanut butter* Apple slices Almond slivers Toothpicks Pear Birdie Using peanut butter, attach raisins to the pear for eyes. Use toothpicks to attach apple slices as wings. Push almond slivers into pear to make a beak. *Be aware of allergies present at your school Recipe adapted from Carrots Strawberries Plain or vanilla yogurt Orange food colouring Wax paper Place a sheet of wax paper on a plate. Mix a few drops of orange food colouring into the yogurt. Dip the strawberries in yogurt, place on wax paper and place in freezer for about 20 minutes or until they set. 3 Orange Yogurt, white in color (vanilla or plain) Cantaloupe, mango, orange or banana Egg-cellent Yogurt Snacks Slice orange in half and hollow out. Carve zigzag edges or leave straight edges to avoid spilling. Fill half way with yogurt. Drop a piece of cantaloupe, mango, orange or banana in the center to create the yolk. Recipe adapted from: Carrot Patches Hummus Baby carrots Fresh parsley Cups Mini pots (optional) For each patch, spoon about 3 tablespoons of hummus into small cups. Place the cups inside the pots if using. Using a toothpick, poke a hole in the top of each baby carrot. Push a sprig of parsley into each hole. Place carrots in the hummus, as seen in the picture. Patches can be served as individual portions or one larger group portion, depending on which size cup or pot you would like to use. Recipe adapted from: 3
4 Baby Chicks 6 Hard-boiled eggs, shelled 3 tbsp mayonnaise 1 tsp honey mustard, dried plums, or olives Carrot Cut the top quarter of the eggs off. Carefully remove the yolks and place in a bowl. Mash the egg yolks. Combine with mayonnaise and honey mustard. Place the egg yolk mixture in a plastic sandwich bag. Seal the bag and snip off one bottom corner. Squeeze an equal amount of the mixture into the larger of each egg white. Add the eyes using bits of raisins, dried plum or olives and beak with a sliver of carrot and top with the remaining egg white hat. Recipe adapted from Rice cake Cream cheese Apples Strawberries Bunny Snack Grapes Peach Spread cream cheese on rice cake for face. Cut grapes in half and add raisins on top to form eyes. Cut apple into slices as shown for ears and whiskers. Cut strawberry into small triangles for nose and bowtie. Cut peach into triangles to make bowtie. Recipe adapted from 4
5 Vanilla yogurt Strawberry yogurt Red apple Bunny cookie cutter or bunny outline drawn on wax paper Easter Pops Strawberry Almond slivers Popsicle sticks Line pan with wax paper. Draw around the bunny cut out or cookie cutter. Flip the paper over. Put the yogurt in a baggie and snip off the edge. Attach slivers of red apple for the whiskers, raisins for the eyes, strawberry for the nose, and almond slivers for the teeth. Place popsicle sticks in the bottom and smooth the yogurt on top using a knife. Place them in the freezer for about 20 minutes or until ready to serve. Recipe adapted from Easter Egg Cartons Empty egg carton Plastic eggs Miniature carrots Miniature crackers Cheese Grapes Grape tomatoes Fill each plastic egg with a different snack food.
