1 TERRAPIN TIMES ARNOLD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Dear Parents & Guardians, OCTOBER 2017 It was wonderful to see so many parents at our annual Back to School Night! Your active involvement in our school programs and events is essential for our success. I hope you enjoyed seeing your child s classroom and meeting with the teachers. This month we will continue with a full calendar of fun and instructional activities. On October 5 th, the PTA will have the Annual Walk-A-Thon to help raise funds for various programs and a new class set of Chromebook Computers. On October 14 th, PTA will host our Annual Fall Festival. Thank you to PTA for their financial support and time to make all this possible. This year, there are conferences during the first semester on October 19th and December 8th. ALL parents will be afforded a conference for each student either on October 19th or December 8th. Information will be coming home soon about your day and time. October will end with our annual Costume Parade on October 31 st. For school costumes, please remember that weapons (including look-a-like and toys) are not allowed and should be saved for afterschool events. It will be helpful if your child can independently put their costume on to minimize prep time and adult assistance. Thank you again for all of your support in making Arnold Elementary a successful school! Shauna Kauffman Principal National Blue Ribbon School PRINCIPAL S LETTER BELIEVE, ACHIEVE, EXCEL!

3 PARKING IN FIRE LANES AND/OR BUS LOOPS The purpose of this memorandum is to serve as a reminder that parking in designated fire lanes and/or bus loops is prohibited. This prohibition extends to staff, students, visitors, spectators at athletic events, day care vans, and after school activity vans such as karate centers, clubs, etc. Principals and building administrators must make a concerted effort to monitor these areas during the school day and at school sponsored activities. Any vehicle parked in a fire lane or obstructing a fire hydrant must be moved to an authorized parking space. As you know, in a critical emergency, the loss of every minute caused by vehicles blocking fire and police department access can become critical.
