Yellow flowers are followed by brilliant red samaras or Helicopters (hence the name Hot Wings). Lush green foliage yields to glowing fall shades of orange and red. One of the first to leaf out in spring, the fragrant buds open to reveal blue-green foliage. Hardy to the northern most regions of Canada. Height: 25m Spread: 15m Populus x canescens Tower, Tower Poplar Hardy, dense columnar form. Green leaves with wavy margins and pointed tips, undersides are silvery-green due to numerous fine hairs. Height: 10m Spread: 2m Populus x jackii Northwest, Northwest Poplar Fast growing male clone does not produce the fluff associated with other poplars. Large triangular leaves are dark green turning golden yellow in fall. Can reach massive proportions. Good for shelterbelts. Height: 20m+ Spread: 15m+ Populus x Tristis, Tristis Poplar Fast growing tree with rounded head. Very fragrant balsam scented buds. Extremely cold-hardy. Yellow fall colour.
