1 AGRICULTURE-HORTICULTURE Fruits & Vegetables Building E-1 BRENDA TRANTHAM, Superintendent The quality desired in agricultural and horticulture exhibits is the quality that brings the best financial return in the commercial market. Exhibits must be at the stage of ripeness required by Section of the California Food and Agricultural Code to be considered for an award. SECTION 42513: Mature the stage of ripeness which will insure the completion of the ripening process to a degree, which will insure palatability, after the removal of the product from the tree, plant or vine. SECTION 42515: Over ripe means having an advanced state or maturity, which causes the product to be undesirable for human consumption in a fresh state. RULES FOR AGRICULTURE-HORTICULTURE 1. Enter online at the fair s website If an Exhibitor submits their entries using the Fair s paper entry form, a $4.00 processing fee will apply. 2. Entries must have been grown by the exhibitors within the last year. 3. In order to be eligible for any award, the specific variety of a product and the stage of ripeness must be adequately and correctly labeled before the receiving date for entries. 4. Substitutions may be made within divisions only, from one class to another. 5. Open to residents of Stanislaus County and Merced County north of the Merced River, served by the Turlock Irrigation District. 6. All state and local rules apply. 1. To enter in "any other" class, there must not be a specific class previously listed for that item. 8. NOTE: All Ag Hort entries become property of the Stanislaus County Fair and will be disposed of unless prior written arrangements have been made with the Ag Hort Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent. Entries available for pickup through prior authorization from the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent must be non-perishable. Sweepstakes points are earned as follows: 1st = 5 points, 2nd = 3 points, 3rd = 1 point.
