2 WHAT WE ARE LEARNING TODAY Hello! I m Snap Bean Simon. It s time to learn about the groovy Florida Snap Bean. Join me as we learn about this awesome vegetable!
3 FUN FACTS SNAP BEANS Snap beans are also known as green beans or string beans. They are a member of the legume family, just like black beans and chickpeas. Fresh snap beans should be crisp and snap in half. BLACK BEANS CHICK PEAS
4 SPOT IT ON THE MAP Snap beans are mainly grown in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties. However, they are also grown in Alachua, Bradford, Hendry and Suwannee counties.
5 HAVE YOU TRIED A FLORIDA SNAP BEAN? Florida snap beans are planted in the late summer and spring. They are available from October through May. Look for this logo to find Florida-grown Snap Beans!
6 DID YOU KNOW? Oh Snap! Florida produces a lot of beans! Florida is the top producing snap bean state in the nation. One quarter of all snap beans are eaten fresh. The rest are processed by canning or freezing.
