It is best t supprt yur resident t meet their nutritinal needs thrugh rdinary fd and fluids. We call this apprach fd first. This includes: Fd frtificatin Snacks between meals Regular milky drinks Chsing high calrie and high prtein fds/fluids Fd frtificatin will increase the calrie and prtein cntent f the diet. This will nt increase the prtin size but will aid weight gain and help t meet the resident s nutritinal needs. This infrmatin leaflet cntains ideas n nurishing snacks, drinks and tips n hw t increase the calrie and prtein cntent f the fd ffered.

Falda 200ml full fat milk 1 tablespn dried skimmed milk pwder 1-2 tablespns rse syrup 1 scp ice cream Jelly, grated Basil seeds 1 tablespn shredded pistachi nuts Add all ingredients tgether and mix well, r blend if required. Milky Masala Chai 200ml full fat milk 1 tablespn dried skimmed milk pwder 1 teaspn masala spices 1-2 teaspn vanilla syrup (ptinal) 1 teaspn evaprated milk 1 tablespn cndensed milk Add masala spices t cup f frtified milk. Heat in the micrwave. Remve and add evaprated milk, cndensed milk and vanilla syrup. Fruit drink (200 calries) 100ml fruit juice 100ml lemnade (nn-diet variety) 1 scp srbet 1 tablespn sugar (We used range juice and lemn srbet but feel free t experiment) Blend all the ingredients tgether until smth. Mang Lassi 100ml frtified milk * 200ml full fat yghurt g chpped mang 3 teaspns sugar Mix the ingredients tgether and blend until smth Ht chclate (220 calries, 11g prtein) 200ml full fat milk 1 tablespn dried skimmed milk pwder 3 heaped teaspns drinking chclate Sugar t taste Warm the milk. Add the dried skimmed milk pwder, chclate pwder and sugar and mix tgether. Als try malted milk drinks, cffee made with frtified milk, fresh fruit juice r milk n its wn. These drinks will prvide mre energy and prtein than teas and cffees made with water r crdial/squash.
