Les Vignerons d Alignan-du-Vent Cante Merle Blanc 2014, Languedoc, France 7.40 In this blend, sauvignon blanc adds zip to the traditional ugni blanc and terret. Did someone say party? Bodegas Frutos Villar Maria de Molina Verdejo 2014, Rueda, Spain 7.90 This zesty white from the verdejo grape is dry and unoaked, with attractive flavours of grapefruit and lemon. Avincis Vila Dobrusa White 2014, Romania 8.20 A blend of feteasca regala, pinot gris and tamâioasa românească, this is a blossomy, medium weight white blend with peach, lemon sherbet and juicy grapiness. Domaine des Lauriers Picpoul Cuvée Paredaux 2015, Languedoc, France 9.00 Domaine des Lauriers is one of the leading producers of Picpoul. Its green streak carries a salty sea breeze with it. Edoardo Miroglio Soli White 2014, Bulgaria 9.10 This blend of chardonnay, riesling, sauvignon blanc and gewürztraminer has a gentle texture with juicy peach and melon flavours. Saladini Pilastri Falerio 2014, Marche, Italy 8.90 A blend of trebbiano, passerina and pecorino. Yellow apple, conference pear and fennel on a fresh palate combine in a rounded, flavoursome wine. Château Magneau Blanc Classique Graves 2014, Bordeaux, France Impressively full-flavoured thanks to aromatic muscadelle and textured semillon forming the majority of the blend, with sauvignon providing acidity and crunch. Vignoble Guillaume Chardonnay 2014, Franche-Comté, France Great value chardonnay with lots of tangy pineapple fruit and a creamy texture. Domaine Galévan Côtes-du-Rhône Blanc Libre Expression 2013, Rhône, France A dead ringer for expensive white Burgundy, this is smoky, toasty and salty with lots of energy and lip-smacking nuttiness.

Château de Cabidos Petit Manseng Sec 2008, Béarn, France 12.90 Powerful, rich and fully mature, this is exotically creamy with lots of honeysuckle, acacia and a hint of white truffle.

Amares Chardonnay 2014, Stellenbosch, South Africa A generously round, rich, retro chardonnay that s undeniably full-bodied with a touch of butterscotch and heady, peachy fruit. Inama Soave Classico Campo dei Tovi 2014, Veneto, Italy A vintage that is really in its stride, giving generous amounts of apricots, quince, blossom and a rounded texture balanced by garganega s trademark bite of acidity. Château Magneau Cuvée Julien Graves 2014, Bordeaux, France Pink grapefruit, lemon zest and peach work together beautifully with the oak (50% new), which brings vanilla, toast and a hint of Rose s Lime Marmalade. Domaine Hatzidakis Santorini 2014, Santorini, Greek This blend is composed of 90% assyrtiko with 5% each of aidani and athiri. Driven by its unforgettable minerality and intense lemon fruit. BSE 2014, Tokaj, Hungary A blend of two-thirds furmint and one-third harslevelu, this is a classic, bone-dry Tokaji, with furmint providing acidity and minerality, and harslevelu giving weight and perfume. Contat-Grangé Maranges Blanc 2013, Burgundy, France Packed with peachy fruit and with a patisserie finish, this is superb value for money and a great white Burgundy to have on hand throughout the festive period. Can Rafols des Caus Xarel-lo Pairal 2009, Penedès, Spain The grapes for this exceptional white are picked late and fermented in new chestnut wood barrels; think apple skin, hot sand and the purity of mineral limestone. Vignoble Guillaume Chardonnay Collection Reservée 2009, Franche-Comté, France The top cuvée comes from a single small plot of mature vines and puts many a Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet to shame. Galévan Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2013, Rhône Coralie Goumarre s white Chateauneuf is frankly brilliant; seductive and deep with resonant flavours of macadamia, white peach and fresh quince. Zagreus St. Dimitar Mavrud 2014, Bulgaria 7.80 Made entirely from mavrud, a world class grape native to Bulgaria, this is mid-weight and fragrant with a brambly, spiced plum flavour. Domeco de Jarauta Viña Marro Vendimia Seleccionada 2011, Rioja, Spain 9.00 Plush, ripe, and ready to drink with rich blackcurrant fruit, backed up by 8 months in oak to give some toasty vanilla flavours as well. Avincis Vila Dobrusa Red 2014, Romania 9.00 The native negru de dragasani is blended with merlot to make a structured wine with attractively vibrant blueberry pie fruitiness. Saladini Pilastri Rosso Piceno 2014, Marche, Italy 9.60 The wine has an intense ruby colour with aromas of red cherries and sweet spice thanks to four months in French oak. A good alternative to Chianti. Domaine Galévan Puy Saint Martin 2013, Vaucluse, France 9.60 A gutsy blend of grenache, syrah and cabernet sauvignon with flavours of black olive, cured meat, garrigue herbs and blackberry jam. Torremilanos Vinlara Tinto 2012, Ribera del Duero, Spain 9.90 Juicy red berry fruits and poached strawberries are balanced by some vanilla spice. Great value for the sometimes pricey Ribera del Duero. Capçanes Mas Picosa 2013, Montsant, Spain % grenache plus syrah and merlot. From organically tended vineyards, Mas Picosa is a jucy fruit-driven wine with cherry and sweet spice flavours. Lantos Kadarka 2013, Kunsag, Hungary This fresh, slightly funky, southern Hungarian number has a lot in common with peppery, floral reds like pinot noir or gamay.

Capçanes Mas Collet Barrica 2012, Montsant, Spain From the Catalan co-operative Capçanes, based in Montsant, comes this blend of 20% tempranillo, 20% cabernet sauvignon and 60% garnacha. Soft with ripe cherry and blueberry; 9 months in oak gives this wine a hint of farmyard and toast. Valensac Entre Nous Petit Verdot 2013, Languedoc, France Petit verdot is a strapping, dark skinned variety with lots of blackberry fruit, some meaty, liquoricey notes and a plush texture. Edoardo Miroglio Cabernet Franc 2013, Bulgaria Perfumed dark berry fruit, attractive spice and plenty of style in this lighter-bodied red from Thrace. Domaine du Terme Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Sablet 2013, Rhône, France Tastes of macerated red fruits - plum and cherry - with some dried fruitcake notes and a hint of thyme. Warming and unpretentious. Bodegas Valpiculata Puertas Novas Crianza 2011, Toro, Spain This full-on, chewy, spicy, black-fruited wine offers value for money without any compromise on power or intensity. Domaine Galévan Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge Paroles de Femme 2012, Rhône, France Grenache, mourvèdre, cinsault and carignan. This has an old school vibe with oxidative, caramelised grenache richness, lots of spice and fruits in alcohol. Very round and marvellously seductive. Vignoble Guillaume Pinot Noir 2014, Franche-Comté, France The signature of Xavier s 2014 is fresh aromatics, light accessible textures and crisp cranberry fruit. Thymiopoulos Xinomavro Jeunes Vignes 2014, Naoussa, Greece A wine that shows the softer side of Xinomavro; fruit-driven, cherry-scented, round and supple with fine grape-skin tannins. Domeco de Jarauta Viña Marro Reserva 2010, Rioja, Spain With toast, vanilla, coconut and cocoa powder to go with its red fruits, this is rich, bold and expressive. Zorzal Malbec 2014, Mendoza, Argentina From the Tupungato region of Mendoza, this exciting malbec has a complex aroma of violet and forest fruits. Full and rich, but not cloying, this has lots of energy of expression. Edoardo Miroglio Pinot Noir 2012, Bulgaria This has a little more weight and fruit than similarly priced Burgundy - thanks to the warmer climate - but is a great alternative to Kiwi pinot noir.

Gioia Al Negro Aglianico Nerulum 2011, Basilacata, Italy A great discovery that displays the enormous potential of aglianico grapes grown outside the classic zones of Vulture and Taurasi: think fiery spice, balsamic reduction, liquorice and dried fruits. Château Magneau Rouge Graves 2011, Bordeaux, France Quintessential Graves, this blend of 45% cabernet sauvignon, 50% merlot and 5% cabernet franc has that combination of earthiness and elegance that makes the gravel soils of this region so appealing for wine lovers. Lantos Hit Kekfrankos 2012, Kunsag, Hungary Lush and velvety with juicy black fruit and black pepper backed up by some sweet spice thanks to twelve months in barrel. Tulbagh Mountain Vineyards Syrah Mourvèdre 2007, Western Cape, South Africa An organic winery which has produced a mature wine with spicy, smoky notes that reminds us of cured meat, black pepper and dark tobacco. Amares Syrah 2009, Stellenbosch, South Africa A full-throttle syrah crammed with dense blackberry fruit; this is meaty, rich and polished thanks to 14 months in barrel. Tremendous value. Avincis Negru de Dragasani 2012, Romania A compelling Romanian crossing from native varieties, negru de dragasani is a bold, juicy, blackberry and liquorice scented red in a full bodied, but approachable style. Domaine Betton Crozes-Hermitage Rouge Espiègle 2013, Rhône, France A beautifully crafted syrah, full of mulberry fruit and notes of freshly-milled black pepper Château Haut-Bana Médoc 2011, Bordeaux, France This supple, fragrant blend of 60% merlot and 40% cabernet sauvignon is the Médoc at its best. Blackberry fruit, gravelly minerality and a winning perfume of violets and pencil wood. Domaine du Terme Gigondas 2012, Rhône, France Blackberry, dark cherry and some liquorice combine with earthy and leathery tones in this full bodied Gigondas based mainly on grenache with some syrah and a little drop of mourvèdre. Bodegas Valpiculata Crianza 2011, Toro, Spain The style has evolved since the first vintage into a wine of elegance despite the enormous undertow of dark fruit and profound, ripe and refined tannins that add to the overall polish. Giuseppe Mascarello Freisa 2011, Piedmont, Italy The junior partner to the famous nebbiolo grape of Barolo, freisa is lighter, juicier and more frivolous in style, but still with the freshness and firm structure that Piedmont is known for.
