2 The New Model for Wine Distribution f r o m J a c k C a c c i at o DIRECTOR OF WINE OPERATIONS The weather has cooled down and those red wines are really starting to look good. Next week I m off to visit some good friends in Italy. I ll be near Verona in the Valpolicella area, home to Italy s famed Amarone and onto Piedmont to taste some awesome Barolos. This is one of my favorite times of year to be in Truffle country. My mouth is watering just thinking about those tasty Tuber Magnatum that flourish in the forests near Alba. I even put them on my eggs for breakfast Thanksgiving is upon us once again and the Holiday Rush is on. Plan for those delicious holiday meals with a wine that accents your culinary choices. Let your customers know that how you cook your bird and what you re stuffing it with will influence the right pairing. A traditional bread stuffing with bacon and herb will work well with wines that have high acidity like Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc or a French Rose. A bolder Chardonnay or a light red like Barbera or Chianti would work well with a chestnut and pork sausage stuffing. Add cranberries and match it with a Pinot Noir that has cherry and raspberry flavors for a great pairing. Ask your Sales Rep for some great Turkey Stuffing Recipes for your customers and promote selections of Via Veneto Pinot Grigio, Hooks Bay Sauvignon Blanc, Divum Chardonnay, Les Anges Rosé, Bava Barbera and Artesa Pinot Noir.
