6 October 11, 2012 BURGUNDY 2014 Burgundy 2014 Domaines F - L Date & place of tasting in italics Growers / Wineries are in alphabetical order Domaine Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes Tasted at the Armit tasting Middle Temple January 2016 The nose is fresh, bright and floral with crisp apples and a touch of citrus. Sweet on the palate honeyed and toasty the mid palate has fleshy melon and ripe greengage. Mineral freshness at the back but it finishes with rich ripe fruit. Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts Chalky and mineral the nose is fresh the start of the palate racy streamlined. There is some mid sweetness with the fresh fruit the mineral giving a bright steely finish. Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Tasted at the J & B tasting One George Street January 2016 The fruit on the nose is sweet the start of the palate fleshy and rich ripe melon. Under the sweet fruit citrus and apple refresh and lighten with the richer fruit showing at the back and giving depth on the finish. Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Tasted at the Armit tasting Middle Temple January 2016 Honeysuckle fresh fruits the nose has charm the palate starts rich fleshy with ripe melon. There is balance underlying mineral and citrus bright at the back slightly nutty with long lingering flavours. Mercurey Rouge Tasted in the Carlton Club July 2016 Redcurrants the nose is fresh the start of the palate bright. There is red cherry richness in the middle the sweet fruit backed by freshness but it fills out on the finish with depth of flavour. Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 6

7 BURGUNDY 2014 October 11, 2012 Mercurey Rouge 1er Cru Clos des Myglands Monopole Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2016 The nose has depth the fruit quite sweet with a strong red fruit influence. Black fruits mingle with the red on the mid palate the back palate has good depth the finish though lighter bright and brambly. Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Beaux Bruns The nose has a mix of fruits all sweet and ripe and the palate starts with depth mid suppleness. Bramble and mulberry give balance yet at the back the sweetness of the fruit gives fleshy richness on the finish. Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2016 Rich and ripe on the nose black fruits on the palate depth and complexity of flavour in the middle. The sweetness is underpinned by red fruits at the back lighter and fresher but it finishes with the richness of ripe fruit. Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les St Georges Tasted at the J & B tasting One George Street January 2016 The nose has a mix of sweet fruits black fruits backed by red and the palate starts with fleshy richness. Firmer in the middle red fruited freshness comes through and gives a brighter lighter feel to the finish. Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Tasted at the Armit tasting Middle Temple January 2016 A floral bouquet on the nose violets and cherries there is a smoky charm. The start of the palate is rich and ripe with red plum and blackberries silky and smooth. Under the sweetness the richness there are some fresh red fruits that bring out exotic herbs and spices. Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru Tasted at the J & B tasting One George Street January 2016 Concentrated black fruits the nose has depth and richness the palate a brooding power. Sweet in the middle the fruit is ripe fleshy and supple and although firm at the back at the moment the finish is sweet with flavours that linger. 8 October 11, 2012 BURGUNDY 2014 Tasted at the J & B tasting One George Street January 2016 Concentrated fruit the nose has depth richness the palate is fleshy and sweet fruited. Rounded tannins add to the mid suppleness the fleshiness but there is balance lighter bright smoky and slightly spicy on the finish. Domaine de la Ferte Givry Givry 1er Cru Servoisine Tasted at the Charles Taylor tasting Travellers Club January 2016 Bright with red fruits and black fruits the nose is light and the palate fresh. There is more depth in the middle some sweet fruit at the back but the finish is light and bright. Domaine Gilles et Natalie Fèvre Chablis Chablis Tasted in the Mansion House July 2016 Nutty apple on the nose the start of the plate is firm quite hard and although there is some mid sweetness the fruit bat the back if very fresh the finish lacking in length. William Fèvre Chablis Chablis Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2016 Mineral and lemon the nose is fresh the start of the palate bright with green apple crispness. There is a balancing sweetness at the back but the finish is racy fresh and long. Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2016 Mineral driven the nose is fresh the start of the palate crisp slightly herbal with crushed limes and flint. A hint of sweetness balances the finish though crisp and mineral with lingering flavours. Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume Tasted in the Carlton Club July Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 8

There is balance mineral and citrus underpinning and refreshing yet the back palate has depth rich fruit the finish is light fresh and flinty. Chablis 1er Cru Montmains Tasted in the Carlton Club July 2016 Mineral and flint the nose is fresh the start of the palate crisp. Light in the middle an apple and lime mix and although there is a hint of sweetness at the back the finish is lean and quite tight. Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2016 Floral fragrant the nose has a bouquet of white flowers the start of the palate bright and fresh. Depth in the middle ripe greengage and fleshy melon the back palate is lighter with a balancing freshness. Domaine Jean-Philippe Fichet Meursault Bourgogne Blanc Vieilles Vignes Greengage depth on the nose the start of the palate is rich with ripe fruit. It is lighter and fresher in the middle the sweetness underpinned by lime and apple freshness yet it finishes with depth and rich fruit. Meursault Meix Sous le Château The nose has honeyed richness the fruit at the start sweet and ripe the mid palate fleshy but there is freshness a good balance between the honeyed fruit and the apple. Meursault Les Gruyaches Rich ripe fruit the nose has depth the palate honeyed richness. Depth of flavour in the middle sweet and ripe but apple and citrus at the back lighten and refresh the finish fruity with good length. 10 October 11, 2012 BURGUNDY 2014 Domaine Follin-Arbelet Aloxe-Corton Corton Bressandes Grand Cru Tasted at the J & B tasting One George Street January 2016 Richness on the nose there is a strong black fruit character and a brooding depth on the palate. The sweetness is balanced by freshness lighter at the back stylish with the fruit on the finish fresh an autumn hedgerow berry mix. Romanée-St-Vivant Grand Cru Tasted at the J & B tasting One George Street January 2016 Sweet and ripe the nose has depth the palate fleshy richness supple and generous in the middle. There is balance underling freshness with the rich ripe fruit giving depth and power on the back palate and finish. Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2016 Bright on the nose the start of the palate has a racy freshness. White peach on the palate gives richness the fruit ripe and sweet all backed by mineral and citrus the finish bright with flavours that linger. Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2016 Concentration and depth the nose has a mix of rich fruits the palate fleshy melon and ripe greengage. Under the sweet fruit crisp apple and mineral refresh layers of flavour balance and complexity. There is depth on the back palate but freshness on the finish. Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Tasted at the Armit tasting Middle Temple January 2016 Floral acacia and white flowers on the nose the start of the palate is fresh with mineral intensity. 11 BURGUNDY 2014 October 11, 2012 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2016 Light bright the fruit on the nose is fresh the start of the palate very red fruit in character. There is mid sweetness some ripe black fruits depth at the back the finish lighter with freshness and length. Domaine Jean-Marie Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Morey-Saint-Denis Clos Solon Fragrant red fruited the nose has a nutty freshness the palate a mix of red fruits lots of red cherry and mulberry. Firm at the back yet there is sweetness coming through on the finish. Domaine Gagnard Delagrange Chassagne-Montrachet Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc 1er Cru Morgeot Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2016 Sweet and ripe on the nose the palate is lighter with a mix of citrus fruits. Bright at the back apple crispness but there are rich fruits ripe fruits giving depth on the finish. Domaine Garnier et Fils Chablis Chablis Tasted at Lincoln s Inn January 2016 Tasted in Lilley July 2016 The 2014 vintage produced some sweet fruit the nose has depth yet the palate is fresh citrus and apple driven There is mid depth, greengage with a touch of melon, but at the back mineral and citrus refresh the finish is racy with lingering flavours. 11 Master of Wine: Derek Smedley Master of Wine: Derek Smedley

12 October 11, 2012 BURGUNDY 2014 Domaine Gautheron Chablis Chablis 1er Cru Vaucoupin Tasted in the Carlton Club June 2016 The nose is classic with mineral and citrus freshness the start of the palate flinty. There is enough mid sweetness to balance a touch of ripe greengage with the fruit at the back fresh the finish flinty and long. Domaine Geantet-Pansiot Gevrey-Chambertin Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes The nose has depth a rich mix of red fruits the palate has concentration with more of a black fruit influence. Sweet ripe tannins add to the suppleness the back palate has richness and depth. Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes Ripe fruit the nose has a sweet mix of fruits the start of the palate lighter and bright slightly herbal with bramble and bilberry. Rich in the middle supple and fleshy the fruit is supported by ripe tannins sweet fruited on the finish. Charmes Charmbertin Grand Cru Brooding power richness the nose is dominated by black fruits. Supple the fruit is ripe mid fleshiness layers of black fruits and although a hint of bilberry freshness at the back the finish has depth and sweetness. Domaine Henri Germain Meursault Meursault 1er Cru Charmes Rich, ripe and honeyed the nose has depth and sweetness the start of the palate succulent. Crisp apple balances an underlying freshness the back palate is lighter and fresher the finish though has depth and honeyed sweetness. Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 12

13 BURGUNDY 2014 October 11, 2012 Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Chatelots Fragrant the nose has bramble freshness the palate is light with a mix of redcurrant and bramble. The mid palate has quite high acidity and there is a lack of depth at the back. Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard Savigny-lès-Beaune Bourgogne Aligoté Tasted at Charles Taylor s September 2015 Apple fresh the start of the palate is crisp and crunchy the mid palate light and bright with lime and lemon giving freshness on the finish. Bourgogne Chardonnay Monopole Combe d Orange Tasted at Charles Taylor s September 2015 Rich ripe greengage on the nose the start of the palate has depth sweet ripe fruit. Fresher towards the back crunchy apple the finish is quite light and bright. Savigny-lès-Beaune Blanc Tasted at Charles Taylor s September 2015 Light and bright the nose has citrus freshness the start of the palate mineral. Depth in the middle the fruit feels ripe and the finish is fleshy and rich. Pernand-Vergelesses Les Belles Filles Tasted at Charles Taylor s September 2015 Lime fresh on the nose the start of the palate is crisp citrus and apple. There is mid sweetness but it is lighter at the back with a racy freshness on the finish. Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Sous Frétille Tasted at Charles Taylor s September 2015 Ripe fruit on the nose the start of the palate is sweet melon and greengage. 14 October 11, 2012 BURGUNDY 2014 Bourgogne Pinot Noir Tasted at Charles Taylor s September 2015 Firm on the nose the start of the palate is quite tight but it fills out in the middle with rich ripe black fruits. The tannins are fine not too obvious the fruit at the back is rich but there is a red fruited freshness on the finish. Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Les Vergelesses Tasted at the Charles Taylor tasting Travellers Club January 2016 Fragrant and fresh the nose has a mix of red fruits yet the palate is sweeter more depth of fruit all supported by fine tannins. Rich and ripe at the back but the finish is lighter bright fresh with good length. Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières Tasted at the Charles Taylor tasting Travellers Club January 2016 The nose is bright and fresh with a mix of red fruits and the start of the palate is light. Sweeter and richer in the middle the red fruits feel ripe the back palate has more depth with black fruits coming through on the finish. Domaine Vincent Girardin Meursault Meursault Clous Tasted at the Farr Vintners Tasting in Boodles April 2017 The nose has ripe greengage richness the start of the palate honeyed. Fresher towards the back it is quite light although it does fill out on the finish with fleshy melon. Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits-Saint-Georges Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Porrets-St Georges Monopole Tasted at the Charles Taylor tasting Travellers Club January 2016 Concentrated black fruits the nose has depth the palate layers of flavour. Sweet in the middle it is fleshy and ripe yet leaner at the back slightly tight but fills out with ripe black cherry on the finish. Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 14

There is freshness at the back but it finishes with depth of flavour the richness of ripe black fruits. Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Beau Monts Tasted at the J & B tasting One George Street January 2016 Brooding depth black fruits the palate is rich fleshy and supple. The tannins are ripe supporting but not obvious the back palate has depth of flavour the finish is rich and ripe. Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Power yet elegance the sweet ripe fruit is backed by freshness rich black cherry with underlying bramble. Supple fleshy depth of fruit on the mid palate but at the back there is a lighter feel the finish is long and stylish. Domaine Anne Gros Vosne-Romanée Échezeaux Les Loachausses Grand Cru Depth of fruit the nose has a mix of ripe black fruits the palate has sweet fruit all supported by rounded tannins. Under the supple rich fruit red fruits refresh and brighten some mineral acidity. It is bright at the back with the sweet fruit coming through giving richness on the finish. 16 October 11, 2012 BURGUNDY 2014 Tasted at Farr Vintners September 2016 Lime fresh on the nose the start of the palate is vibrant citrusy and mineral. There is a sweeter feel on the mid palate creamy and rich, ripe pear with at the back lime and apple giving brightness and freshness the finish is fresh fruited and nutty. Pouilly-Fuissé CC Tasted at Farr Vintners April 2016 Tasted at Farr Vintners September 2016 The nose has sweetness depth of flavour yet the start of the palate is lighter bright with a mix of citrus fruits. Creamy in the middle yellow peach some ripe melon the back palate buttery and rich the finish is fresh citrusy, mineral and long. Mâcon Pierreclos Tri de Chavigne Tasted at Farr Vintners April 2016 Depth of fruit the nose is rich the palate creamy, fleshy, buttery with ripe greengage and white peach. There is balance bright at the back lemon and lime, lean, fresh with a mineral streak the finish aromatic and smoky. Pouilly-Fuissé Tris des Hauts de Vignes Tasted at Farr Vintners April 2016 Tasted at Farr Vintners September 2016 Complexity and interest a balance of sweet fruit and freshness. The start of the palate is bright the mid palate creamy and rich mango and ripe tropical fruits. There is underlying lime freshness the finish flinty directional and long. Pouilly-Fuissé 35eme Vendange Tasted at Farr Vintners April 2016 Tasted at Farr Vintners September 2016 The nose has a smoky white flowered charm acacia and orange blossom. Ripe and rich in the middle peachy there is depth of flavour density and power. The flint and shale on the back palate lighten the crisp apple refreshes the fresh flavours linger on the finish. Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat Chambolle-Musigny Bourgogne Rouge The nose has depth and sweetness the palate a mix of rich ripe black fruits. Underlying freshness quite flowery on the back plat but the finish is rich and ripe a nice depth of fruit. Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 16

17 BURGUNDY 2014 October 11, 2012 Chambolle-Musigny Tasted at the Clarion tasting Middle Temple January 2016 The nose is light with raspberry freshness but the palate has a sweeter feel a nice depth of fruit. Light and fragrant at the back red fruited freshness yet the finish has depth and richness. Vougeot 1er Cru Les Petis Vougeot Light fragrant the nose has freshness bramble and bilberry and the start of the palate is fresh the mid palate lacking depth and sweetness. Richer at the back but the finish is firm tight and quite short. Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru The nose lacks a bit of depth and richness the palate lacks concentration and sweetness. Bright red fruits are backed by bramble freshness at the back the finish is light and slightly dry. Domaine Huguenot Marsannay-la-Côte Marsannay Champs Perdrix There is a bright raspberry red fruited freshness light and fragrant. A hint of sweetness in the middle gives way to bright fresh redcurrant and raspberry at the back the finish is fragrant and fresh. Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Fonteny Although the nose is light bright with a mix of red fruits the palate has more depth some richer flavours. The redcurrant and raspberry freshness takes over the back palate light the finish bright and fresh. Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru Power and depth the nose has lots of rich fruit ripe red fruits and some black fruits. The mid richness is underpinned by fresh raspberry and mulberry layers of flavour with ripe fruit richness filling out the finish. 18 October 11, 2012 BURGUNDY 2014 Mâcon-Villages Grange Magnien Tasted in the Carlton Club March 2016 Citrus an apple on the nose bright and the start of the palate is light and fresh. There is a lack of sweet fruit in the middle richer towards the back but the finish is firm with a lime and apple mix. Domaine Paul et Marie Jacqueson Rully Rully 1er Cru La Pucelle The nose is quite sweet the start of the palate has the richness of ripe melon but in the middle green apple acidity tends to dominate a slight lack of balance. The finish is bright and fresh just slightly short. Domaine Patrick Javillier Meursault Bourgogne Blanc Cuvée Oligocène Depth on the nose the start of the palate is creamy and ripe. There is mid freshness a mix of citrus fruits bright with a hint of mineral richer at the back depth of fruit but the finish is light and bright. Meursault Clos du Cromin The nose is bright the start of the palate has citrus freshness. There is more depth in the middle ripe melon richness but the fresh fruits the citrus and stone fruits are there at the back the finish bright with good flavours that linger. Meursault Les Tillets Attractive floral freshness the nose is bright the start of the palate quite light. Sweet ripe greengage gives mid depth rich and honeyed at the back the finish though lighter crisp with apple freshness. Meursault Les Clousots Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 18

Rich and ripe in the middle there is some fleshy melon a touch of honey with weight of fruit on the finish. Meursault Cuvée Tête de Murger The fruit feels ripe the nose has depth a rich mix of fruits. Sweet and honeyed at the start the back palate is lighter with citrus freshness yet the finish has depth rich ripe melon. Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru Complex bright the nose has a mix of fragrant fruit aromatic and white flowered. Rich in the middle the ripe greengage backed by melon but there is balance an underlying freshness the finish lighter with flavours that linger. Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Serpentières Tasted at Mercers Hall May 2017 The nose is fresh with a farmyard character the start of the palate bright bramble some red fruits. There is mid sweetness more depth at the back but it finishes fresh and light. Domaine Rémi Jobard Meursault Bourgogne Blanc Bright apple fresh on the nose the palate has a citrus mix. There is mid depth ripe sweet fruit with the peachy melon richness filling out the back palate. Meursault Chevalières Honeyed with ripe melon both nose and palate is rich fleshy and sweet. There is a brighter feel in the middle crisp apple but the back palate is sweet and ripe with depth of fruit on the finish. 20 October 11, 2012 BURGUNDY 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes Tasted at Charles Taylor s September 2015 Depth of fruit on the nose the palate starts with sweetness quite rich in the middle but there is an underlying citric freshness that gives a lighter, brighter feel at the back. The finish has fair depth rather spoilt by the obvious oak. Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie Tasted at Charles Taylor s September 2015 Light and fresh on the nose the start of the palate has flint and mineral. Richer and sweeter in the middle fair depth of fruit the richness and sweetness underpinned by a citrus apple mix. Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chaumées Clos de la Truffière Tasted at Charles Taylor s September 2015 Sweet on the nose the palate has depth fleshy ripe melon. Citrus and apple balance slightly lighter at the back but it fills out on the finish fleshy and rich. Brighter at the back fresh fruits a nice balance of freshness and sweetness with ripe melon giving fleshy richness on the finish. Beaune Rouge Clos du Dessus des Marconnets Tasted at the C & B tasting The Tower January 2016 The nose has red fruits the palate richer and sweeter with more of a black fruit influence. Lush and fleshy in the middle fine tannins support with black fruits giving richness and depth on the finish. There is sweet fruit in the middle some bramble and black cherry behind the red fruits and although fresh and light at the back it finishes with richness and depth. Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru Brooding depth the nose has a mix of rich black fruits the palate is sweet fruited with mid fleshiness. There is a balancing freshness with bramble and bilberry but the back palate is rich and generous. Domaine Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Frionnes Bright and fresh on the nose the palate has mineral and citrus light and bright. There is mid richness the fruit ripe and sweet but the fresh fruits are very much in evidence at the back the finish is bright. Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard Tasted in Lincoln s Inn July 2016 Sweet ripe greengage the nose has depth of fruit the palate is rich and fleshy. There is balance citrus and apple the layers of flavour giving complexity. Bright and fresh at the back yet there is sweet fruit on the finish. Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Clos de La Chatenière White flowers acacia blossom the nose is bright and fresh the start of the palate light. There is mid sweetness some rich ripe fruit a touch of melon but the citrusy freshness the mineral lifts the flavours on the back palate. Puligny-Montrachet Tremblots Bright on the nose the palate has apples and limes light and fresh. 23 BURGUNDY 2014 October 11, 2012 Domaine Benjamin Leroux Beaune Vougeot Clos du Village Redcurrant and raspberry the nose is fresh and fruity the start of the palate light. It is richer in the middle but the red fruited acidity dominates the back palate and the finish is light fresh and fragrant. Domaine Lignier-Michelot Morey-Saint-Denis Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Charmes The nose has a gamey richness the palate full of ripe black fruits. Supple and ripe fruited in the middle yet there is structure at the back fresher fruit but it finishes with the depth and the richness of ripe fruit. Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Rich and ripe brooding black fruits the palate has a complex mix of flavours. The mid palate is sweet and supple and although there is bramble freshness at the back the finish has fleshy richness. Domaine Louis Robin Chablis Chablis Tasted in Lincoln s Inn March 2017 The nose is very fresh with lime and flint the palate starts light and bright. There is a hint of sweetness in the middle a mix of greengage and grapefruit but the flint, mineral and citrus are there at the back the finish has a racy length.
