Dit is egter nie beperk tot vrugte pluk nie! n Geswoeg en gesweet in die boorde en wingerde kan natuurlik tot hongerpyne lei. En daarvoor het De Krans ook n oplossing. Die De Krans Deli & Bistro is die tuiste van heerlike kontreikos. Volgens die bestuurder, Retief van der Walt, kan gaste uitsien na heilsame disse wat van vars bestanddele gemaak is. Dit sluit in n verskeidenheid ontbytopsies, toebroodjies, ligte middagetes, hamburgers en seisoenale slaaie. Vir diegene met n soet tand sal daar beslis ook iets wees om oor te glimlag. Al die disse is gemaak om saam met De Krans se wyne geniet te word. Die delikatessen bied besoekers n verskeidenheid produkte uit die Calitzdorp-omgewing en die Klein Karoo. Dit sluit in plaaslike kase, olyfprodukte, ingelegde en gedroogde vrugte, en stukkonfyt. Dan s daar ook tuisgemaakte beskuit, Calitzdorp-heuning en vele ander smaaklike juwele uit die area. Besoekers kan kies of hulle binne of buite in die skadu van die opgeleide hanepoot-wingerd wil sit. 2 Boplaas opens the Stoepsit Bistro Boplaas Family Vineyards recently opened their Stoepsit Bistro at their cellar in Calitzdorp. The Stoepsit Bistro is an extension of the Boplaas Stoepsit Sauvignon Blanc label, a highly popular wine that honours Roline Nel, the 94 year old Nel matriarch, who maintains the tradition of daily enjoying a glass or two of this Sauvignon Blanc on her stoep. The seasonal menu changes from time to time. We will however always serve cheese and cold meat platters, pizza and pies, and will be open 7 days a week from 10am to 4pm daily (closed on Christmas Day). Boplaas wines can be enjoyed at cellar prices on the stoep. We also serve a selection of bespoke artisanal cocktails from our own range of brandies, whiskey and gin. Or pop in at the Boplaas Klein Brak Rivier Tasting Room on the Garden Route. After the repeal of distilling licenses in the early 1920 s, Boplaas copper pot still stood dormant for almost 70 years until it was fired up again in 1989.

3 Boplaas releases a whisky Boplaas Family Vineyards in Calitzdorp s heritage of crafting and distilling fine pot still brandy dates back to 1880, with the first order of casks sent to Cape Town harbour by ox-wagon and steam train for delivery to London. After the repeal of distilling licenses in the early 1920 s, Boplaas copper pot still stood dormant for almost 70 years until it was fired up again in And five years later, in 1994, Boplaas released the very first Estate brandy the Boplaas 5 Year Old Potstill Estate Brandy. Brandy production at Boplaas is truly a specialised craft undertaking, with only a few barrels bottled annually. Our range consists of the Carel Nel Reserve Blended Brandies (pot still and aged-wine spirit) the most popular being the Carel Nel 5 Year Old (Y.O.) with occasional releases of 10 Y.O. and 15 Y.O. bottlings. The Boplaas Pot Still Brandies are crafted exclusively from aged pot still brandy. The 8 Y.O. Pot Still has proven to be a perennial favourite and from time to time releases of 12 Y.O. and rare Reserve 20 Y.O. bottlings are added to the range. The latest addition to our distilled product range is the Boplaas Whisky, a blended cask aged grain whisky, ideally to be enjoyed on the rocks or with a mixer. The Boplaas Whisky is made from the well-know South African staple, maize, and distilled to an alcohol content of 93% and then diluted with distilled water to 68% strength. The aging takes place in American oak barrels for between 54 and 60 months. This is followed up with a short period in Boplaas brandy barrels. After the aging the whisky is once again diluted with distilled water to 43% and then bottled unfiltered. Our fine and rare brandies and whisky are available from the cellar door and from a few fine wine retailers. Pop! Pop! Pop!
