2 WORDS OF WELCOME! Welcome to the ECOVIN tasting! Today, we are pleased to introduce to you 15 German producers that all have brought sustainable quality wines. Germany has for a while been considered one of the leading white wine countries in the world with Riesling as the absolute star. But Germany has many other interesting wines on the palette. Germany is e.g. the third largest producer of pinot noir (spätburgunder) and the quality of the red star of Germany has increased dramatically over the last couple of years. The wine production in Germany to a large degree is focused on environmentally friendly processes resulting in wines that show a large respect towards the terroir. The ECOVIN organization that today represents 233 German producers is a great example of this. We hope, you will have some interesting wine experiences today in fantastic green surroundings. 3 Dear wine lovers, we are very happy to be in Copenhagen. ECOVIN is the oldest European organic farming association. Already since 1985, we have strict rules for the cultivation and enology of organic wines. Our nearly 250 members manage about 1/3 of German organic vineyards. The spectrum of grape varieties extends from classic varieties such as Riesling or Burgundy to robust new varieties called the Piwis (fungus resistant varieties).
