1 LEAN PRODUCTION FOR WINERIES PROGRAM An Initiative of the Office of Green Industries SA Industry Program and the South Australian Wine Industry Association, in association with Wine Australia South Australian wine manufacturers are invited to participate in the Lean Production for Wineries Program (LPW Program), funded by the Office of Green Industries SA and administered by the South Australian Wine Industry Association (SAWIA). The LPW Program will assist winery staff implement principles of Lean production, which can help to reduce waste, reduce costs, and improve productivity and performance. The program builds upon the success of the Efficient Wineries Pilot (May 2014 to June 2015) that identified a total of $6.7 million in annual savings for six participating wineries, with an average production cost saving of approximately 9% across those six wineries. Discover if you could make similar savings by participating in the Lean Production for Wineries Program It offers: Access to Lean production experts who will work with you and your staff to identify opportunities for implementing Lean in the workplace; provide training, practical advice and support for implementation; and report on savings that could be achieved. Choice of consultant from a shortlist of approved suppliers. Assistance with negotiating project timeframes, deliverables and cost based on a standard set of project requirements. Up to two-thirds of consultant fees, to a maximum of $4000 (GST Exclusive) per winery, covered by a Green Industries SA grant administered by SAWIA. Higher contributions (up to 50%) may be required for non-sawia members. Typical projects are anticipated to cost approximately $6000 (GST exclusive) however actual project cost may vary depending on scale. What you need to do to participate: 1. Attend, if possible, a Wine Australia Implement Lean Production workshop (4 hrs) and participate in associated follow-up activities AND / OR be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of Lean Production principles by completing pages 4-5 of the Expression of Interest. 2. 3 COMMITMENT AND DECLARATION About your commitment To participate in the Lean Production for Wineries Program (LPW Program), which is supported by a grant from the Office of Green Industries SA and administered by the South Australian Wine Association (SAWIA), the project must have the approval of your organisation s senior management (Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director, or equivalent) and appropriate resources (including staff, documentation, and funds to contribute to project costs) must be made available to enable project delivery. The project must be completed before 31 May You must agree to share information with your chosen consultants (to be treated as commercial in confidence ) to enable project delivery, and share project results with SAWIA and the Office of Green Industries SA. Where appropriate, results may be used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the program (e.g. through development of case studies and/or summaries of non-sensitive information that may be used in Green Industries SA reports). Sensitive information specific to your organisation will not be publicly disclosed without prior written approval from your organisation. If sensitive data is required for reporting purposes, it will be aggregated with other program data and de-identified wherever possible. The contact details supplied on this form will be used only for matters relating to the organisation s participation in the Lean Production for Wineries Program and other agreed notifications. By expressing your interest, you are not bound to undertake a project until a contract is in place with your chosen consultant. Contracts will be established between SAWIA and your chosen consultant, and based upon requirements outlined in a Grant Agreement established between SAWIA and Green Industries SA. Under their Grant Agreement, SAWIA can pay a maximum of $4000 (GST exclusive) to cover up to twothirds of total project costs for each winery that participates in the LPW Program. Participating wineries must commit a minimum one-third of total project cost (up to 50% for non-sawia members), which will be outlined in approved project proposals (sought by SAWIA and negotiated with participating wineries and their chosen consultant). Approval to proceed will be subject to payment of the winery s contribution. Project proposals will be based on a standard set of conditions nominated by Green Industries SA and SAWIA, and are anticipated to cost approximately $6000 (GST exclusive). Actual project costs may vary depending on the scale of your selected project. Chosen consultants will be expected to visit the workplace a minimum of three times (pre, during and post vintage 2016) at a time that is mutually convenient. They may be accompanied by members of the LPW Program team (i.e. staff of SAWIA and/or Green Industries SA), all of whom must be permitted onsite to enable project delivery. By expressing your interest, you are not guaranteed to be accepted to participate in the program. This will be determined by SAWIA in accordance with the Lean Production for Wineries Program requirements specified by Green Industries SA. 2

I understand that the Office of Green Industries SA is subject to the Freedom of Information Act 1991 and that if a Freedom of Information request is made in relation to the organisation s participation in the Lean Production for Wineries Program , the Office of Green Industries SA will consult with the applicant before any decision is made to release information that is specific to the applicant.
