4 August 07, 2012 CHILE Chile Wineries R - Z Tasted at the Wines of Chile Tasting see month and year in italics Tasted on other occasions see date and place in italics Growers / Wineries are in alphabetical order with area underneath Viña La Rosa Cachapoal Valley White Wines Las Palmas Chardonnay Tasted at Restaurant Galindo Santiago February 2013 The nose is full of sweet ripe fruit and the palate has melon richness. Towards the back there is a touch of citrus but it does not really refresh so that the finish is full fat and sweet fruited. Viña La Ronciere Rapel Valley Los Espinos Merlot Tasted in Lilley November 2012 The nose is quite sweet and although the palate has some ripe feeling black plum towards the back it is firmer harder with more red cherry showing. The finish has just a hint of bitterness. Viña San Esteban Aconcagua Valley White Wines Sauvignon Blanc Tasted in Old Hunstanton March 2014 Crunchy gooseberry on the nose the start of the palate is citrusy and fresh. There is a mid sweetness some richer flavours yet at the back apple is very much in evidence giving the finish a racy crispness. Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 4

5 CHILE August 07, 2012 Rio Alto Cabernet Sauvignon Tasted in Old Hunstanton March 2014 Bilberry fresh on the nose the palate has more depth with a strong cassis character. Although firm in the middle there is a sweeter feel at the back yet the finish is light fresh brambly and herbal. Viña Santa Cruz Colchagua Valley White Wines Charmán Sauvignon Blanc Casablanca Valley Tasted in Santa Cruz February 2017 The nose has a mix of fragrances orange blossom the palate is bright with lime and lemon freshness. There is a hint of sweetness at the back but it finishes racy and fresh. Charmán Carmenère Colchagua Valley Tasted in Santa Cruz February 2017 Herbal fresh black fruits the nose is tight he start of the palate firm. A hint of sweetness in the middle but at the back there are more fresh fruits bramble bilberry the finish quite tight. Sierra Cruz White Wines Sauvignon Blanc Curico Valley Tasted at the London Wine Trade Fair May 2007 The nose is very fragrant with rose petal and fresh limes. The sweet tropical fruit on the palate is mixed with some fresh gooseberry but the fruit flavours are quite light and flowery. A greater depth of fruit does show on the finish. 6 August 07, 2012 CHILE There is a racy herbal character on the nose and the crisp fresh fruit comes through on the palate. Towards the back there hints of pear drops refreshing the finish. Chardonnay Colchagua Valley Tasted at the London Wine Trade Fair May 2008 The nose has ripe fruit, a mix of honeydew melon and greengage. The palate starts with crisp youthful flavours but fills out on the mid palate and there is attractive sweet fruit coming out towards the back. Good mix of ripe fruit and freshness. Merlot Colchagua Valley Tasted at the London Wine Trade Fair May 2007 The nose has a mix of black fruits, sweet and ripe. Lots of fleshy fruit shows on the palate with black plum and bramble mixed in with some mulberry. Ripe and rounded, the tannins are quite supple and there is some freshness on the finish from the mid acidity. Merlot Maule Tasted at the London Wine Trade Fair May 2010 The nose is surprisingly light more of a red than black plum influence. The palate starts quite sweet but the tannins are firm rather holding back the fruit at this stage. There is, though, the feeling of more fruit to show. Merlot September 2010 Ripe black plum fills the nose and gives flesh on the palate. It is easy ripe fruited just lacking a bit of structure and complexity. Cabernet Sauvignon Colchagua Valley Tasted at the London Wine Trade Fair May 2007 The nose is full of cassis with other black fruits pushing through. The palate feels ripe, the tannins are rounded but towards the back there is a freshness and structure that gives a firmer feel to the finish. It has fair length of flavour. Tricyclo Merlot / Cabernet / Malbec Colchagua Valley Tasted at the London Wine Trade Fair May Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 6

7 CHILE August 07, 2012 The nose has a complex mix of fruit flavours with hints of truffle and spice. The fruit is sweet on the palate, ripe plum mixed with blackcurrant and bilberry. The mid acidity gives a freshness and brightness to the fruit but right at the back it feels fleshier, a mix of truffle and black fruits. Tricyclo Malbec / Cabernet / Syrah Colchagua Valley Tasted at the London Wine Trade Fair May 2007 The fleshy fruit on the nose has a spice character. On the palate there is a mix of flavours, the black fruits are overlaid with black truffles and spiced up with hints of black pepper. The tannins feel quite firm towards the back of the palate and tend to overpower and dry the fruit. Tabali Limari Valley White Wines Talinay Sauvignon Blanc Coastal Limestone Vineyard Tasted at Tarapaca February 2016 White flowered fragrances the nose is light and bright the palate fresh, crisp with flint and mineral. Grapefruit on the mid palate gives slightly more depth but the back and finish have a persistent slate and mineral freshness. Viognier Tasted at the Carlton Club July 2013 White peach and apricot give an attractive mix of flavours on both nose and palate. Fresh in the middle with a touch of citrus it fills out towards the back although the finish is quite light. Viña Tamaya Limari Valley Reserva Syrah Tasted at the Mercado Chileno tasting Truman s Old Brewery September 2016 The nose is closed the palate firm with bitter red cherry. Obvious tannins hold back the fruit and although there is a hint of sweetness at the back the finish is tight and fresh. 8 August 07, 2012 CHILE The nose has a spicy freshness the palate a mix of red and black fruits light at the start but richer and sweeter in the middle. There is balance with raspberry and bramble freshness under the sweet fruit the finish is quite light with pepper spice fragrances Viña Tarapaca Isla de Maipo Sparkling Wines Viña Mar de Casablanca Brut Unique NV 89 Chardonnay 56% Pinot Noir 44% Casablanca Valley Charmat Method Tasted at the winery February 2016 Ripe melon on the nose the palate has toasty bready richness depth of flavour but the sweet fruit is backed by freshness a strong citrus character at the back. Vina Mar Brut Unique 91 Pinot Noir 100% Casablanca Valley Floral orange blossom the nose is fresh the palate bright and citrusy. Richer in the middle grapefruit and a hint of tropical fruits but the citrus mix is there at the back the finish is racy with good length. Vina Mar Extra Brut 89 Pinot Noir 100% Casablanca Valley Fragrant and fresh the palate starts with lime and lemon sweeter in the middle pineapple richness and although depth at the back the finish is light citrusy and bright. Sparkling Rosé Viña Mar de Casablanca Brut Rosé NV 89 Pinot Noir 100% Casablanca Valley Charmat Method Tasted at the winery February 2016 The nose has lots of red fruits raspberry and cranberry the palate bright and fresh. 9 CHILE August 07, 2012 White wines Reserva Sauvignon Blanc Tasted at the winery February 2013 The nose is light quite hard and very lime driven. Slightly sweeter tropical fruits show on the mid palate but the finish has the firmness of lime and mineral. Reserva Sauvignon Blanc Fresh fruits the nose has a mix of citrus fruits the start of the palate lime fresh. There is mid sweetness more of a tropical fruit character the back palate bright crisp with apple and lemon. Gran Reserva Sauvignon Blanc Tasted at the winery February 2013 The nose has lime freshness and the start of the palate is green fruited and quite tight. The tropical fruits on the mid palate give a sweeter feel but the lime and gooseberry take over giving a very crisp firm finish. Gran Reserva Sauvignon Blanc Central Valley Tasted at the winery February 2016 Bright and fresh on the nose the palate has lots of citrus limes and lemons. Sweeter in the middle a hint of tropical fruits but it finishes crisp and fresh. Gran Reserva Sauvignon Blanc Leyda Valley The nose is fresh the palate starts with crunchy gooseberry and lime. Richer in the middle more breadth of flavour the fleshy grapefruit backed by lime and lemon with fuller flavours coming through on the finish. Gran Reserva Sauvignon Blanc Casablanca Valley Lime fresh the nose is bright the start of the palate citrusy with sweet tropical fruits giving a richer feel in the middle. Citrus at the back gives a racy freshness the finish though has sweetness white peach and a hint of apricot. 10 August 07, 2012 CHILE There is a lot of sweet fruit on the nose lots of ripe melon giving it opulence and richness. Fresher lime and apple helps to balance the richness but the finish is sweet fruited quite fleshy with a hint of oak. Gran Reserva Chardonnay Casablanca Valley Tasted at the winery February 2016 Light fresh the nose has a mix of citrus fruits the start of the palate bright apple fresh. There is mid sweetness but at the back fresh fruits are to the fore the finish citrusy and bright. Gran Reserva Chardonnay Leyda Valley Tasted at the winery February 2016 Rich and ripe on the nose the palate has melon and greengage good depth of fruit. There is a balancing freshness bright at the back the finish though fuller quite fleshy. Rosé wines Rosé Tasted at the winery February 2013 The nose is heavy with juicy red fruits and the palate has a fleshy richness. There are slightly fresher red fruits towards the back but the overall feel is a lack of acidity to balance the sweeter flavours. Gran Reserva Pinot Noir Tasted at the winery February 2013 The nose is remarkably sweet with a mix of black cherry and mulberry. There is a slightly fresher lighter feel on the start of the palate but mid and back palate have the sweetness of bramble jam and this gives a fleshiness on the finish. Gran Reserva Pinot Noir Leyda Valley Tasted at the winery February 2016 The nose has depth black cherry richness and the palate has lots of rich ripe fruit. There is a balancing freshness more of a bramble character at the back yet there is sweetness and depth on the finish. Gran Reserva Pinot Noir Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 10

11 CHILE August 07, 2012 The nose has minty freshness the palate dominated by red fruits a red cherry mulberry mix. Sweet fruit in the middle the ripe fruit gives a fleshy suppleness and although sweet at the back the finish is lighter with fresh fruits. Etiqueta Azul Cabernet Sauvignon 54% Syrah 20% Petit Verdot 16% Cabernet Franc 10% Sweet and ripe on the nose a rich mix of cherry and cassis the mid palate supple with a touch of chocolate. Fresh fruit at the back black pepper spice the finish has bramble and red fruits the finish length. Reserva Merlot Ripe plum sweet fruit the nose has a rich mix of black fruits the palate is fleshy and supple. Red plum in the middle it feels fresher lighter at the back with sweet ripe black plum enriching the finish. Merlot 2015 Single Block 92 From cask Red fruits tend to dominate the nose is fresh the start of the palate bright. Ripe red plum in the middle with sweet fruit at the back and it finishes with a mix of rich black fruits. Gran Reserva Merlot Tasted at the winery February 2013 The nose has an earthy herbal undertone red and black fruits rather marred by this character. The mid palate has some rich flavours but it feels lighter towards the back with the fruit on the finish being overcome by the alcohol. Gran Reserva Merlot Tasted at the winery February 2016 Rich on the nose the palate has depth of flavour ripe black plums and the back palate is fleshy and supple. There are enough red fruits to balance lighten the back palate and finish. Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon The black fruits on both nose and palate are sweet ripe the mid palate fleshy supple ripe black cherry, liquorice and dark chocolate. 12 August 07, 2012 CHILE Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 Single Block 92 From cask Minty on the nose the start of the palate is fresh with a bilberry bramble mix. Depth in the middle ripe cassis the fruit supported by fine tannins structure and although tight at the back the finish has concentration and richness. Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon Tasted at the winery February 2016 Cassis and black cherry the nose has depth of fruit the palate is rich and ripe dark chocolate and liquorice. Bilberry gives freshness a lighter feel towards the back but the finish has depth richness lots of cassis and black cherries. Gran Reserva Etiqueta Negra Cabernet Sauvignon Tasted at the winery February 2016 The nose is packed with cassis the start of the palate has black cherry firmness. Rich in the middle dark chocolate and liquorice the richness is underpinned by bramble freshness. The finish is long with a complex mix of black fruits. Reserva Syrah Bright on the nose fresh fruits the red fruits tend to dominate. There is mid sweetness ripe red plum and mulberry the sweet fruit gives richness at the back the finish is bright spicy black and white pepper. Syrah 2015 Single Block 92 From cask Bright on the nose the start of the palate is firm with red fruits underlying spicy freshness. There is sweetness depth of fruit with the lighter fresher red fruits coming through on the finish. Gran Reserva Syrah Tasted at the winery February 2016 Rich and ripe on the nose the palate has sweetness ripe red fruits. Still firm in the middle but there is richness sweetness at the back although the finish is bright fresh and red fruited. Reserva Carmenère Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 12

13 CHILE August 07, 2012 The nose is sweet with ripe black cherry the start of the palate fresh herbal leafy with bramble and bilberry. More depth and richness at the back but it finishes with leafy herbal freshness. Gran Reserva Carménère Tasted at the winery February 2013 The nose is sweet fruited the palate has lovely ripe fruit. Black fruits dominate layers of flavour blackberry, black cherry and bilberry. There is freshness towards the back and the finish has a green peppery herbal spiciness. Gran Reserva Carmenère Carmenere 95% Merlot 5% Tasted at the winery February 2016 Herbal spice the nose is bright the start of the palate fresh. Rich black fruits on the mid palate sweet fruit there is depth at the back the finish fresher bright herbal with a touch of spice. Gran Reserve Carmenère Tasted at the winery February 2016 Herbal spice, green nettles, brambles the nose is fresh the start of the palate bright. Black cherry richness in the middle mid sweetness but the black fruits at the back are fresh a bramble and blueberry mix the finish has a herbal tinge. Gran Reserva Carmenère Leafy and herbal the nose is fresh the palate has a mix of black fruits bramble and black cherry. There is mid richness with the fresher fruits dominating the back palate the finish is leafy, herbal and long. Tara Pakay Cabernet Sauvignon 60% Syrah 40% Isla de Maipo The nose has a mix of ripe black fruits the palate starts sweet with rich black plum. Cassis and black cherry it feels lighter and fresher in the middle a hint of black pepper but fills out at the back with black plum, cassis and dark chocolate the finish has depth and sweetness. 14 August 07, 2012 CHILE The nose is rich sweet fruited with lots of ripe flavours. Cassis dominates sweet, ripe and fleshy with a touch of liquorice and the ripe tannins give suppleness on the mid palate. The back palate is fresher slightly firmer with the tannins rather more in evidence. Sweet White Wines Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc Gewürztraminer Moscatel Tasted at the winery February 2013 The tropical fruit mix on the nose is sweet a lovely mix of ripe flavours. The ripe fruited mid palate has some freshness underpinning bringing out the spicy fragrances but both back palate and finish have the richness and sweetness of ripe fruit. Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc Gewürztraminer Tasted at the winery February 2016 Oriental spices the nose has lots of fragrances the palate tropical fruits and ripe peach. Sweet and ripe in the middle the fruit at the back is lush yet there is enough underlying citrus to balance. Tarapaca Late Harvest Gewurztraminer 60% Sauvignon Blanc 40% Ripe tropical fruits the nose has sweetness and depth the start of the palate fleshy and supple ripe yellow peach. Oriental spiciness towards the back lighter and fresher but it fills out on the finish with a mix of ripe fruit. Terranoble Maule Valley Reserva Syrah Los Cactus Estate Tasted at the Mercado Chileno tasting Truman s Old Brewery September 2016 The nose is light with fragrant fresh red fruits the palate has a nix of raspberry and redcurrant mid freshness. There is a sweeter feel to the back palate and slightly more depth of fruit on the finish. Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 14

15 CHILE August 07, 2012 Terrapura Winery Curicó Carmenère Colchagua Valley Tasted at the Lea & Sandeman tasting London March 2015 The nose is herbal and fresh with lighter black fruits bramble and bilberry and the palate starts quite light and fresh. There is more depth in the middle richer and sweeter fresher at the back with a light leafy finish. Cabernet Sauvignon Colchagua Valley Tasted at the Lea & Sandeman tasting London March 2015 The fruit on the nose is rich and quite sweet the start of the palate rich with chocolate and cocoa under the fruit. Lighter and fresh at the back the finish has a mix of bramble and bilberry. Tierra Alta Casablanca Valley White Wines Sauvignon Blanc Tasted at the Stone House Hotel Wensleydale September 2012 The mix of tropical fruits on the nose is refreshed by lime and lemon. Although the palate has the crispness of lime and grapefruit there is enough sweetness to balance but towards the back there is more citrus and mineral take over giving a crisp feel on the finish lovely and crisp. Sauvignon Blanc Tasted in Lilley October 2012 The nose has the freshness of lime and lemon with richer tropical fruits at the back. There is a mix of flavours on the palate first some ripe melon then grapefruit refreshing. Sauvignon Blanc Tasted in Lilley May 2014 There is a lovely mix of tropical fruits fresh lime and lemon layers of fruit lots of complexity. The mid palate is rich peachy with tropical fruits and pear yet there is lime and apple freshness a lovely balance of flavours. Sweeter at the back depth of fruit yet freshness on the finish making it an enjoyable glass before dinner yet a great partner to food with enough freshness for the prawn cocktail and enough richness for the fuller flavoured fish and for chicken and turkey. 15 Master of Wine: Derek Smedley Master of Wine: Derek Smedley

16 August 07, 2012 CHILE Sauvignon Blanc Tasted in Lilley December 2014 The nose has an attractive fruity mix the start of the palate citrus dominated with lots of lime and lemon. It fills out in the middle white peach and hints of tropical fruits then freshness comes through on the back palate the finish crisp and racy. Sauvignon Blanc Tasted in Lilley January 2016 Lime and mineral the nose is fresh and bright the start of the palate crisp. Behind the freshness hints of tropical fruits some white peach give a richer feel but the citrus mix comes through at the back bright fresh with crisp fruit on the finish. Sauvignon Blanc Tasted in Lilley May 2017 Bright, fragrant the nose has mineral and citrus the start of the palate is racy and bright. Broader and richer in the middle tangerines and yellow peach an attractive mix of flavours with the lime and lemon at the back refreshing and giving crispness on the finish. Merlot Tasted in Lilley November 2013 Red and black plums give richness on the nose and depth of flavour on the palate. The fruit is lovely and ripe with all the warmth that one gets in Chile s Central Valley. Ripe tannins help the suppleness the mid fleshiness yet there is some underlying red fruit that refreshes and lightens the back palate. The richness of flavour the fleshy suppleness makes this the ideal choice for steak and kidney pie and there is a depth of flavour that suits all of the beef and venison dishes. Merlot Tasted in Lilley May 2014 The nose has red cherry and black plum a mix of flavours and the palate has depth with lots of black fruits black cherry and damsons. Chile s Central Valley is hot producing ripe fruit but the nights are cooler affected by the cooling breezes from the ocean s Humboldt Current and this brings out fresher flavours towards the back. It finishes with depth and complexity a mix of black plum and red cherry the richness of flavours right for beef and venison. Merlot Tasted in Lilley August 2015 Merlot tends to be an easy drinking wine and this certainly fits the pattern. Fresh and red fruited on the nose the palate is fleshy, rich, sweet with black plums and black cherries. The mid richness is nicely balanced by red cherry and loganberry freshness but it fills out at the back with depth and lots of ripe fruit. A wine that suits a range of meats there is enough freshness for lamb, pork and poultry but enough black fruited sweetness for beef. Master of Wine: Derek Smedley 16

17 CHILE August 07, 2012 Merlot Tasted in Lilley March 2016 The Merlot grape produces wines that are sweet, fleshy with mid richness and this certainly is typical of the grape with its ripe plum and black cherry. There is balance with fresh fruits at the back, bramble and red fruits, loganberry and red cherry, but the finish has depth richness and flesh. It would not overpower lamb has enough freshness for the richness of pork yet enough depth of fruit for beef. Cabernet Sauvignon Tasted in the Stone House Hotel Wensleydale March 2016 The nose is bright the start of the palate fresh with a mix of bilberry and bramble. Rich and ripe in the middle cassis and black cherry fleshy and supple and although at the back it feels fresher the finish has richness and depth. Miguel Torres Curicó Valley Sparkling Rosé Santa Digna Estelado Sparkling Rosé NV 92 Pais 100% Tasted in the Carlton Club September 2016 The nose has rose petal fragrances red fruits wild strawberry the palate starts with freshness quite light. There is mid sweetness peachy some red fruits a mix of flavours and although there is depth of fruit at the back the finish is fresh and fragrant. White Wines Reserva de Pueblo Pais 100% Maule Valley Tasted crossing the Andes February 2017 Fresh on the nose the palate is sweeter and richer red cherry and strawberry. There are fresh fruits under the sweetness the finish is firm and bright. Santa Digna Sauvignon Blanc Central Valley Tasted at the Carlton Club July 2010 The lime and gooseberry gives a crisp feel to the nose and palate. 18 August 07, 2012 CHILE Santa Digna Sauvignon Blanc Tasted at the Carlton Club July 2012 The nose has all the crispness of lime and gooseberry an exciting mix of flavours. Hints of tropical fruits give some richness and weight on the mid palate but towards the back it has the zesty raciness of lime and mineral a lovely crisp finish. Santa Digna Chardonnay Central Valley Tasted at the Carlton Club July 2010 There is an attractive mix of fruits on the nose greengage backed by guava and pineapple. Sweet fruit fills the mid palate the fleshiness nicely balanced by apple freshness that brightens the back palate. Santa Digna Chardonnay Tasted at the Carlton Club July 2012 There is a fruit salad of fresh flavours on the nose with lots of lime underpinning the richer greengage. The mid palate has the sweetness of ripe fruit but towards the back there is a citrus freshness that brings out the fragrances. Santa Digna Chardonnay Tasted at the Carlton Club November 2016 The mix of fruits is quite sweet the palate has a fruit salad of flavours ripe greengage backed by citrus and apple. There is depth and richness on the back palate yet it finishes bright with a mix of citrus fruits. Cordillera Chardonnay September 2010 Fresh apple and greengage features on the nose with richer fuller flavours on the palate. The fruit is ripe and fleshy but well balanced by the fresher fruit that shows through towards the back. Miguel Torres Gran Reserva Chardonnay Curicó Valley Tasted at the Torres Wine Bar Santiago February 2013 It is rich and fleshy with lots of pineapple and peach. Under the fleshy richness there are fresher flavours a touch of apple but the back palate is full of ripe fruit with a touch of oak coming through on the finish. Santa Digna Gewürztraminer Curicó September 2010 The fresh fruit on the nose has an attractive perfumed quality and this touch of exotic spice is there on the palate. The palate is the same with fresh fruits a touch of citrus that brings out the fragrances and perfume on the finish. Santa Digna Reserve Merlot Central Valley Tasted at the Carlton Club July 2010 Sweet black plum enriches the nose and gives an attractive fleshy start to the palate. The softness and richness of the plum is balanced by fresher fruits a touch of black cherry and blackberry. Santa Digna Merlot Tasted at the Carlton Club July 2012 Ripe plum and rich cherry fill the nose with fruit. The start is fleshy ripe almost opulent but towards the middle the red fruits take over giving a lighter fresher feel. There is a lot happening at the back an attractive mix of fruits with their ripeness fleshing out the finish. Santa Digna Cabernet Sauvignon Curicó September 2010 The nose is dominated by blackcurrant lovely and rich. The fruit on the palate is backed by dark chocolate the richness balanced by some fresher bilberry. The flavours last well on the finish. Las Mulas Cabernet Sauvignon Tasted in Lilley March 2016 Cassis and bramble on the nose the start of the palate is fresh but there is sweetness more depth of fruit on the mid palate. Quite light and bright at the back but the finish has sweetness and fair depth. Manso de Velasco Cabernet Sauvignon Curicó September 2010 The nose is packed with concentrated flavours very cassis dominated. The palate starts quite fresh the mix of bilberry and black cherry giving complexity. Towards the back the sweetness of fruit enriches supple tannins add to the fleshiness. 20 August 07, 2012 CHILE Curicó Tasted crossing the Andes February 2017 Brooding black fruits the nose has depth the palate intensity a concentrated mix of black cherry, sloe and liquorice. There is underlying bilberry freshness the back palate rich packed with powerful black fruit the finish has depth and brooding richness. Tormenta Carménère Curicó September 2010 The black fruit mix on the nose has racy herbal green pepper underpinning. The palate has lots of sweet fruit an intensity of flavour and this richness packs out the back palate. Cordillera Cariñena Curicó September 2010 There is a mix of fruits on the nose some quite firm black cherry underpinned by sweeter bramble. The fruit on the palate feels ripe giving sweetness and then the fresher flavours come through again giving a racier feel to the finish. Cordillera Carignan Curicó Valley Tasted at the Torres Wine Bar Santiago February 2013 There is a mix of black fruits on the nose all backed by a leafy red fruited freshness. Layers of flavour give complexity sweet fruits in the middle are backed by fresher bramble and some red cherry. Although quite firm in the middle the finish has sweetness and length. Cordillera Carignan Maule Valley Tasted crossing the Andes February 2017 Black pepper and spice the nose is fresh the palate has herbal bramble and bilberry. Sweet fruit in the middle the back palate and finish have a rustic hedgerow charm Cordillera Syrah Curicó Valley Tasted at the Torres Wine Bar Santiago February 2013 The nose is full of ripe fruit lots of red fruits with a lovely depth of flavour and the sweetness of the fruit gives suppleness and richness on the palate. 21 CHILE August 07, 2012 Viña Tres Palacios White Wines Reserve Chardonnay Tasted at Lincoln s Inn February 2011 The nose has lots of ripe fruit and the richness fleshiness of melon gives a lush feel on the palate. It lacks a bit of acidity so that the mid palate is bland and the back palate is all a bit full and formless. Tasted at Lincoln s Inn May The fruit on both nose and palate is sweet and ripe with fleshy melon on the mid palate. Fresher greengage shows towards the back lifting the flavours and giving a bright feel to the finish. Reserve Chardonnay Tasted at Lincoln s Inn January 2013 Melon is very much in evidence on the nose lovely and ripe giving a sweet feel and there is richness on the start of the palate. Apple and citrus on the mid palate refresh balancing the richness but towards the back there is a lovely depth of flavour. The richness yet freshness would go well with the richer fish dishes and with poultry. Reserve Chardonnay Tasted at Lincoln s Inn September 2013 From the vintage it may have the look of extreme youth but both nose and the start of the palate is rich ripe fruited full of fleshy melon. The mid palate has apple freshness but towards the back richer greengage dominates and fills out the finish. A wine with this richness yet freshness is not daunted by more powerfully flavoured fish it goes well with salmon and if you enjoy white with meat try it with the poultry dishes. There is a balancing freshness a mix of flavours underlying apple but it fills out at the back with greengage and pineapple and finishes with sweet fruit. Family Reserve Carménère Tasted at Lincoln s Inn February 2011 The black fruit mix has a forest leaf herbal edge. Blackberries dominate the palate with behind some richer blackcurrant then towards the back bilberry freshness is there lifting the flavours. The herbal spice so typical of the grape lingers on the long finish. Reserve Carménère Tasted in Lilley May 2017 The nose is herbal and fresh with bramble and bilberry a mix of black fruits the start of the palate bright. The mid palate has ripe cassis and black cherry depth of flavour rich fruit at the back the finish grassy, herbal and fresh. Merlot Reserve Tasted at Lincoln s Inn May 2011 The nose has more red than black plum but the palate is the reverse with lovely rich ripe fruit giving it a fleshy sweetness. Towards the back the red fruit influence is apparent giving a slightly lighter feel to the finish. Reserve Merlot Tasted at Lincoln s Inn January 2013 Juicy damson fills out the nose with rich black cherry and cassis on the palate. The sweetness of the fruit combined with rounded tannins gives a supple fleshy lushness on the mid palate. The flavours towards the back are fresher the combination of sweetness yet some freshness makes it a great Jack of all Trades. Reserve Merlot Tasted at Lincoln s Inn October 2014 Ripe plums fill out the nose and the start of the palate has richness and depth of fruit. The mid sweetness is balanced by red fruits red plums and mulberry slightly fresher at the back with a hint of vanilla spice yet the finish is very classic Merlot fat fleshy and rich. The combination of flavours the richness yet lighter freshness makes it a Jack of all Trades marries well with most dishes especially good with the pasta. Red fruits underpin slightly lighter at the back but it fills out on the finish ripe damson plum rich. Tres Palacios Merlot, Tasted at Lincoln s Inn September 2016 Ripe black plum on the nose and the start of the palate has richness and depth of fruit. The mid sweetness is balanced by red fruits red plums and mulberry fresher at the back with a hint of vanilla spice yet the finish is very classic Merlot fat and fleshy. Reserve Cabernet Tasted at Lincoln s Inn June 2012 The mix of cassis and cherry has a minty herbal quality and this mix features strongly on the palate. There is quite high mid acidity rather overtaking the sweetness and although slightly richer towards the back the finish is quite tight. Tres Palacios Gran Reserva Merlot Tasted in Restaurant Ski Portillo in the Andes February 2016 Sweet fruit on the nose the palate has lots of fleshy black plum mid richness. Bramble and bilberry refresh the back palate bright and light but the sweet fruit the ripe black plum is there on the finish depth of flavour. Tutunjian Estate Curicó Valley Carmenère Tasted in Lilley April 2016 Bramble and bilberry the nose is fresh the start of the palate herbal but there is sweetness on the mid palate ripe fruit fleshy and rich. Ripe black plum is underpinned by blackberry freshness layers of flavour with the complexity added to by a leafiness on the finish. Carmenère Reserva Tasted in Lilley April 2016 Blackberry freshness the nose is bright the start of the palate has a mix of black fruits. T H Syrah =21 Leyda Valley Tasted at the Mercado Chileno tasting Truman s Old Brewery September 2016 Sweet on the nose the palate is quite hot and fleshy. Ripe fruit in the middle there is a lack of balancing freshness the finish is lacking in length. Valdivieso Curicó Valley Sparkling Wines Brut NV 88 Chardonnay 60% Semillón 20% Pinot Noir 20% (Charmat Method) Tasted in the Sagrada Familia Vineyard February 2013 The nose is fresh but the palate has sweeter flavours with just a hint of pineapple. There is a fresher feel on the back palate with a mix of lemon and grapefruit. Extra Brut NV 91 Chardonnay 60% Pinot Noir 40% (Bottle fermented) Tasted in the Sagrada Familia Vineyard February 2013 The fruit on the nose is fresh with crisp apple and a touch of citrus. The palate has complexity of flavour layers of fruit with the freshness at the back giving a light elegant feel. Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay 100% Tasted in the Sagrada Familia Vineyard February 2013 There is a racy citrus mix on the nose backed by apple with this fresh mix of flavours giving a racy crispness on the palate length and elegance on the finish. 25 CHILE August 07, 2012 Sauvignon Blanc Casablanca & Leyda (Waitrose) Tasted in the Sagrada Familia Vineyard February 2013 The nose is crunchy crisp with lime and lemon. The palate starts fresh the citrus backed by cut apple but there is a sweeter feel in the middle passion fruit. The finish has length and a mineral freshness. Reserve Sauvignon Blanc Tasted at the Royal College of Physicians September 2011 The nose is very crisp with lots of green apple flavours and this comes through on the palate racy and herbal. Sweeter tropical fruits are there in the middle giving richness but towards the back the racy citrus and apple takes over crisping up the finish. Chardonnay Tasted at Lincoln s Inn May 2011 The nose is quite lean with fresh fruit back by minerals. The palate starts sweet but the acidity shows through holding back the fruit and leaving the finish a touch short. Chardonnay Tasted at Lincoln s Inn February 2014 The nose is sweet fruited rich and the palate has depth with lots of melon and greengage. There are enough fresh fruits to balance a mix of lime and apple and they give a lighter feel to the mid palate but the sweet fruit is there at the back and the finish is full and satisfying. It is certainly a must for stronger flavoured fish and if you like white with poultry and pork look no further. Single Vineyard Chardonnay Leyda Valley Tasted in the Sagrada Familia Vineyard February 2013 Tasted at Lincoln s Inn April 2013 Although the nose is fresh the palate has the richness of greengage and melon. Under the sweeter fruit crisp apple refreshes and lifts the flavours that linger on the finish. Chardonnay Gran Reserva Leyda Valley Tasted in Santiago February 2017 Rich and ripe on the nose the start of the palate is lighter with a citrus mix. The mid palate has a mix of fruits redcurrants and raspberries that refresh both back palate and finish. Reserva Pinot Noir Casablanca Valley Tasted in the Sagrada Familia Vineyard February 2013 The red fruited mix on the nose has a minty freshness lovely and expressive. The palate starts sweeter with ripe mulberries and wild strawberries but raspberry freshness comes through towards the back and the finish has a hint of spice. Single Vineyard Pinot Noir Cauquenes Tasted in the Sagrada Familia Vineyard February 2013 The nose has a floral fragrant charm and the start of the palate is fresh quite red fruit dominated. It fills out on the mid palate with a mix of mulberry and bilberry. The finish is long stylish elegant with a lovely length of flavour. Merlot Tasted at Lincoln s Inn May 2011 Although there is some black plum on the nose there is an underlying herbal character. The mid palate is firm and the finish spoilt by hints of sulphur. Malbec Tasted in Stroud June 2011 The nose is dominated by red fruits a mix of redcurrant and red cherry. The palate starts fresh with some sweeter fruit in the middle but the finish is light quite short and lacking a bit of character. Wine Maker s Reserve Malbec Tasted in Lilley November 2015 Rich and ripe on the nose the palate is fleshy with ripe black fruits and black truffles. Ripe tannins add to the mid sweetness and although fresher at the back more bramble and bilberry it finishes with depth richness sweet fruit. The mid palate is supple with rounded well handled tannins concentrated with the black fruit mix giving the combination of power yet elegance. Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Tasted in the Sagrada Familia Vineyard February 2013 Minty blackberry is backed by fresh bilberry lots of fragrances on the nose. The fresh fruits on the start of the palate give way to richer flavours ripe tannins all helping the suppleness and velvet richness on the mid palate but towards the back it feels fresher with minty bramble. Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc Cabernet Franc 85% Cabernet Sauvignon 15% Colchagua Valley Tasted in the Sagrada Familia Vineyard February 2013 The nose is rich full of black cherries but the palate starts fresher with bramble and bilberries. The fruit feels ripe with the sweet flavours giving richness towards the back and more weight on the finish. Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc Cabernet Franc 100% Sagrada Familia Vineyard Curicó Valley Tasted in the Sagrada Familia Vineyard February 2013 Red fruits on the nose give freshness with the black fruits that back them some richness. The palate has a savoury character with the fruit mix bramble and herbal black cherry giving lots of complexity. The finish is long with a hint of spice. La Primavera Cabernet Sauvignon 70% Carménère 20% Malbec 10% Sagrada Familia Vineyard Curicó Valley Tasted in the Sagrada Familia Vineyard February 2013 The nose is very cassis driven with a nice depth of fruit yet behind there is herbal bramble freshness. The palate is rich sweet fruited with a mix of flavours giving lots of complexity. Black truffle richness is balanced by fresher black cherry and bramble and although there is just a hint of maturity it finishes quite fresh. Eclát Carignan 65% Mourvèdre 35% Maule Valley Tasted in the Sagrada Familia Vineyard February 2013 The mix of hedgerow fruits has a wild slightly herbal quality with leafiness behind the black and red fruits on the palate. 28 August 07, 2012 CHILE Caballo Loco No 14 NV Cabernet Sauvignon Carménère Malbec Merlot Cabernet Franc Central Valley Tasted in the Sagrada Familia Vineyard February 2013 The blend of grapes, areas and years gives lots of complexity both on nose and palate. The start of the palate has more of red fruit freshness but the mid palate has depth is profound brooding with rich black plum and black cherry further enriched by black truffles. Towards the back and on the finish there is a leafy spicy freshness. Sweet White Wines Eclát Botrytis Semillón Molina Tasted in the Sagrada Familia Vineyard February 2013 Candied orange peel and apricot give richness on both nose and palate. The sweetness of the fruit enriches but under all of the fleshy ripeness there is some citrus that refreshes balancing the fleshy lushness. The spice the botrytis gives lots of excitement on the back palate yet the finish is rich sweet fruited with caramelized orange peel. Eclát Botryis Sémillon Molina Tasted in the Carlton Club September 2016 White peach and apricot the nose is sweet with ripe fruit and the palate has fleshiness depth of flavour underlying candied orange peel. There is enough freshness to balance with rich, ripe fruit filling out the back palate and giving depth on the finish. Los Vascos Colchagua Valley White Wines Sauvignon Blanc Casablanca Valley Tasted in Due Torre Restaurant Santiago February 2013 The nose is lime fresh with crunchy apple and gooseberry. The mid palate has some nice rich flavours with pineapple and mango and although quite sweet towards the back the finish has a attractive racy freshness. It fills out towards the back and finishes with a nice depth of flavour. Chardonnay Colchagua Valley / Casablanca Valley Tasted in Santa Cruz February 2017 Rich ripe greengage the nose has depth the palate ripe melon richness. Fresher at the back but the fruit on the finish is sweet and ripe. Cabernet Sauvignon Colchagua Valley Tasted at Innholders September 2014 Cassis dominated both nose and palate has a very black fruit character with the start of the palate firm and tight. There is a sweeter feel at the back but the tannins the structure tends to hold back the fruit on the finish. Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon Colchagua Valley Tasted in Due Torre Restaurant Santiago February 2013 The nose is very black fruit dominated and the start of the palate has the richness of cassis and black cherry. Dark chocolate gives a fleshy suppleness in the middle but it is the fresher black cherry and cassis that show on the finish. Viña Ventisquero White Wines Tantehue Sauvignon Blanc Tasted at the Stone House Hotel Wensleydale September 2012 Lime and grapefruit give the freshness on the nose but there is a sweeter feel at the back. The palate is the same citrus fresh at the start with slightly richer greengage giving some weight in the middle. The finish though is lime fresh. Clásico Chardonnay Tasted in Lilley May 2014 There is lots of interest on the nose fresh fruited with a mix of lime and apple.
