3 PERTH ROYAL WINE SHOW The Perth Royal Wine Show is West Australia s premium wine competition, overseen by a prestigious team of WA, interstate and international judges. Wine has been judged at the Perth Royal Show since 1843 and the competition is regarded as critical to the success of establishing a national and even international reputation for the WA wine industry. 6 SCHOLARSHIPS WINE INDUSTRY SCHOLARSHIP The Royal Agricultural Society of WA is pleased to offer the inaugural Wine Industry Scholarship in recognition of Bill Jamieson for his contribution to the society and the development of the WA wine industry. The scholarship will provide financial assistance for up to two years to a student undertaking tertiary study in a wine related discipline to help support their career in the wine industry. Please note applicants must have already successfully completed at least one year of the relevant course. CLOSING DATE - FRIDAY 27 OCTOBER 2017 ADVANCED WINE JUDGES SCHOLARSHIP The Royal Agricultural Society of WA is pleased to offer Advanced Wine Judges Scholarship (value $4680) in recognition of John Hanley AO and his contribution the society s wine show over 43 continuous years. The Advanced Wine Assessment Course (AWAC) is an intensive four-day course designed for participants with considerable formal wine tasting experience. It aims to prepare potential new wine show judges and develop the sensory analysis capabilities and the vocabulary of Australian wine industry personnel at an elite level. Course dates - December 2017 (TBA), Adelaide, SA Please note travel and accommodation to Adelaide, SA is the responsibility of the selected applicant. 10 PERTH ROYAL WINE SHOW GENERAL REGULATIONS The Society s General Show Regulations and Section Conditions regulate the conduct of the 2017 Perth Royal Beer Show. Upon acceptance of an entry the Exhibitor is irrevocably contracted to be bound by those General Show Regulations and Section Conditions. A copy of the Society s General Show Regulations may be obtained upon request or from the website Section Conditions applicable to all Exhibitors in the Wine Section are listed in this schedule. An Exhibitor who breaches any General Show Regulation or Section Condition may be disqualified, or suspended for any period, fined or otherwise penalised. The Society may recognise and act upon any penalty imposed by any other similar Society, organisation or body in Australia on any person or exhibit. WITHDRAWAL OF EXHIBIT BY THE SOCIETY: The Society may, at its sole discretion, withdraw, reject or disqualify an exhibit. Refer to the Society s General Show Regulation SOCIETY S LIABILITY: The Society does not accept any liability for loss, damages or injury however caused. Your attention is drawn to General Show Regulation 17 Liability and Indemnity as detailed in the back of the schedule. PROMOTION: No advertising or promotion on behalf of commercial business will be permitted on the Showground without the prior written consent of the Society s Chief Executive Officer. PRIVACY ACT STATEMENT: The information provided by the Exhibitor in the application for entry is collected and used by the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia (RASWA) to organise and conduct Competitions at the 2017 IGA Perth Royal Show. We may publish details such as your name, address and exhibit details in any RASWA publication or communication. Such information may also be made available to, and published by, the media. We will not disclose your information without your consent for any other purpose unless required or authorised by law. You may request access to your personal information and, if necessary, request that our records of that information be corrected by writing to the Chief Executive Officer at the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia, PO Box 135, Claremont WA SECTION CONDITIONS 1. COMPLETION OF ENTRIES: 1.1 All classes shall be open to Wine Producers, hereinafter called Exhibitors, for competition according to the conditions applicable to the respective sections. 1.2 An Exhibitor in this section shall mean a Person, Partnership, Association, Co-operative, Company or Corporate Body who or which in the opinion of the RASWA, manufactures wine or grows grapes and has wine manufactured for him/her or it for the purpose of sale by wholesale or by retail under the name or preferred business name of Exhibitor as stated in the application for entry. 1.3 Exhibitors are limited to THREE ENTRIES PER CLASS, except fortified classes which are two entries per class. All Exhibitors and exhibits to be entered under the name that the wine will be marketed. NO WINE IS TO BE ENTERED INTO THE SHOW MORE THAN ONCE (excluding Wines of Provenance classes) Each wine entry to consist of SIX x 750ml bottles in table wines and sparkling classes and FOUR X 750ml bottles in fortified classes If forwarding the smaller bottles (375ml) for the Table Wines and Sparkling classes, you must send TWELVE x 375ml bottles and indicate on the entry to ensure that we provide 12 labels for your class entry and EIGHT X 375ml of the Fortified classes to ensure you receive 8 labels for your class entry. 1.4 Entries must be made online via Perth Royal Show website. Exhibitors must state the class to be competed for, the style or type and vintage or approximate age of the wine, and that the stipulated minimum quantity is in stock. Each exhibit must represent stock as recorded on the entry and be the bona fide property of that Exhibitor. For the purpose of this condition Exhibitor means the Corporation, Firm, or Person who owns the brand name under which name the wine entered in the relevant class has been or is intended to be sold to the public. 1.5 TRANSFERS: There will be no transfers under any circumstances. It is the Exhibitors responsibility to enter the correct wine in the correct class. 1.6 MINIMUM STOCK REQUIREMENTS: The minimum quantities required in certain classes, as stated in the schedule, must be held in bottles by the dozen by the Exhibitor as at 28 August Wine that is not bottled is ineligible. (Except from those Wines stipulated in 1.6.1) FORTIFIED WINES: It is no longer a requirement that fortified wines (Classes 53 to 72) be held in a bottle by wineries. They may be left in bulk storage and drawn down into bottles for the wine show. 8

11 1.7 SMALL PRODUCERS who process under 300 tonnes of grapes for their own label (i.e. under 300 tonnes processed from their own grown and/or purchased grapes and marketed under their own label or labels but not including grapes processed for other independent identities) who mark and sign the declaration in space provided on their entry and who also meet the present minimum stock requirement as listed will be eligible to exhibit in all classes. 1.8 SINGLE VINEYARD CLASSES: Please indicate via the tick box in the entry. Single vineyard classes have been merged into main classes for The wines entered in these classes must be 100% from the one vineyard. For single vineyard entries, the name of the vineyard must be written on the label. 1.9 Entries will only be accepted from Australia All wines must comply with the Australian Label Integrity (LIP) regulations. Entries should be entered into the class that is most appropriate to the label WINES OF PROVENANCE CLASSES (Classes 21 - white and 46 - red): These classes are open to white and red table wines. Each entry will comprise three wines of the same label, (a) one of current vintage, (b) one between 5 and 9 years older than current vintage and (c) one at least 10 years older than the first wine. For the purpose of this class, current vintage means a wine that is, or will be, on commercial release in Australia between the 1 April 2016 and the 30 June Each entry is to consist of 6 x 750ml bottles (two bottles per vintage). Extra samples of wine may be required on the Exhibitor s Tasting Day. The intrinsic quality and trueness to style are the judging attributes. Each exhibit will be judged as a group. The wines in the group will not be awarded individual scores. An award is made to the labelled wine as a group, not an individual vintage. Volume required at the time of entry is 250 dozen 750ml bottles for the first wine. There is no minimum stock requirement for the second and third wines. Any of the wines in the exhibit may be separately entered as individual exhibits. 2. LABELLING OF EXHIBITS: 2.1 Exhibits are to bear the labels supplied by the RASWA for that purpose, and must show: Class number; Class description; Distinguishing mark or code to enable exhibits to be positively identified; Year of Vintage, or if blended, the average age of the exhibit. NOTE: All bottles must bear the labels supplied by RASWA. Commercial labels are permitted but not required. 2.2 Branded bottles and corks are permissible. 3. DISQUALIFICATION: No entry will be received from any wineries or businesses disqualified by this Society or any other similar Society during the period of such disqualification. Should any such entry be accepted it shall, when discovered, be deemed void and the entry fee and exhibit shall be forfeited and other affiliated Wine Show Societies notified. 4. MARKING OF CARTONS: Exhibitors are requested to label their cartons with the label provided by RASWA. This will enable the Stewards to match the deliveries with the entry. For more labels please contact the Competition and Events Coordinator. 5. DELIVERY OF EXHIBITS: Exhibits must be addressed to and delivered to the Silver Jubilee Pavilion, Royal Agricultural Society of WA, Claremont Showground, Claremont, Western Australia. EXHIBITS MUST BE RECEIVED ON TUESDAY 15 AUGUST 2017 THROUGH TO AND NO LATER THAN FRIDAY 18 AUGUST 2017 BETWEEN 8.00AM AND 4.00PM. 6. CONTROL OF EXHIBITS: After the close of entries, until the awards have been made, no Person shall be permitted access to the bottled exhibits, except the Stewards, and Persons authorised by RASWA. 7. INSPECTION OF EXHIBITS: 7.1 In all classes the stock, as stated on the entry, may be inspected and checked by a representative of the Society and/or nominee. 7.2 All Australian exhibits must: Conform to the respective Acts of the States and the Commonwealth of Australia, which govern the production of Australian Wine and Australian Brandy, i.e. the Customs and Excise Act and Regulations, the Spirit Act and Regulations, the Health Act and Regulations. 7.3 All Australian Producers must exhibit wine made solely from grapes grown, vintaged and bottled in Australia. 7.4 The Society reserves the right to have any exhibit inspected and/or analysed. 8. DISPOSAL OF EXHIBITS: All exhibits become the property of RASWA. 9

12 9. JUDGING: 9.1 Judging will commence on Sunday 27 August through to 30 August All wines will be judged together. 9.2 Judges shall not at any time prior to the announcement of awards have any access as to the identity of the exhibits. 9.3 Judges will judge each class without collaboration and on receipt of all result sheets applicable to any one class, the Chair of Judges shall have the points totalled, checked and determine the awards. 9.4 Judges will not have access to exhibits apart from the glass of each placed in front of them by the Stewards. 9.5 All Exhibitors shall accept the decision of the Society and Judges. 9.6 Exhibits will be judged on points as follows: Colour and Clarity 3 Bouquet 7 Palate 10 TOTAL Awards will be made as follows: Gold Award Silver Award Bronze Award 18.5 points and over 17.0 to 18.4 points 15.5 to 16.9 points 9.8 To determine trophy awards where more than one gold medal wine is involved only the highest pointed Gold award wine/s from each class will be eligible. 9.9 The Chair of Judges shall have power to disqualify or dismiss as being not eligible for judging any exhibit which, in their opinion, does not comply with the regulations in every respect, and such disqualification shall be accepted as final Awards will be withheld in any class where exhibits are considered unworthy A magazine of wine judging results will be available at a cost of $15.00 plus $5.00 postage and handling. 10. INSPECTION OF AWARD WINNING WINES: Prior to the conclusion of the Perth Royal Wine Show (PRWS) a region is selected for inspection by the PRWS Committee and a range of entries are randomly selected by the Chief Steward or nominated Steward. Following the announcement of the awards a RASWA representative or an appointed nominee, inspects the selection of such wine in accordance with the entry and schedule regulations. Proof of stock may be the presence of actual stock or sale records of such wine. A bottle from the stock on hand will be used for comparison against the original entry by a RASWA representative or nominee AWARDS: 11.1 Western Australian Trophies: To be considered eligible for any trophy specifically nominated for a wine produced in Western Australia it is a requirement that 100% of the exhibit be the product of grapes grown and vintaged within Western Australia. In addition the entry must be ticked and signed Certificates will be issued to Award winners Only Gold Award wines are eligible for trophies EXCEPT TROPHIES in connection with AGGREGATE POINTS TROPHIES INVOLVING AGGREGATE POINTS will be allocated on the following scale: Gold Award Silver Award Bronze Award 5 points 3 points 1 point 11.5 In the event of a tie, the Exhibitor gaining the highest number of Gold awards will be judged the winner. Should a tie still exist the Exhibitor gaining the highest number of Silver awards will be judged the winner. Should a tie still exist the Exhibitor gaining the highest number of Bronze awards will be judged the winner. Then if a tie still exists an equal award may be made. Exhibitors must have an aggregate of at least 5 points for these trophies Trophy winners are expected to collect their trophies or arrange for the collection by their Agent at the Awards Presentation function. If RASWA is required to mail trophies, the cost of transport and insurance against damage in transit will be the responsibility of the trophy winner. RASWA will not be responsible for storing the trophies after the Awards Presentation Exhibitors winning Trophies may be requested to sell four (4) dozen bottles of the award winning wine, preferably at wholesale price, for consumption at President s promotional events held by RASWA. 12. ADVERTISING AND DISPLAY OF AWARDS: 12.1 Compliance by a producer (including by subsidiaries or by associated companies) with the Winemakers Federation of Australia Code of Practice for the Display of Awards is a prerequisite for entry to the Perth Royal Wine Show of which the display of awards or medals are authorised by the AWBC for export to Europe. This Code of Practice for the display of awards applies to all wines produced after and including the 2005 vintage Producers shall not use medals, stickers, symbols or other devices on a bottle or any other form of packaging in order to misleadingly convey the impression that the wine has received an award at an open, objective and independent competition.

13 12.3 An Exhibitor shall not advertise or allow to be advertised by any means whatsoever and in particular by broadcasting, television, pictorially or in writing, the fact that any exhibit has won an award at the 2017 Perth Royal Wine Show unless such advertisement shows clearly: (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) the name Perth Royal Wine Show; the year of the award; the class in which the award was won; the title of the award or trophy won where applicable Awards received by an individual exhibit shall only be applied to wines bearing the name under which the exhibit was entered. In recognition that a wine could be entered in a show before a wine has been finally allocated to a brand; portability of an award to enable it to stay with the wine which won the award shall be permitted on the condition that the Exhibitor provide prior written notification of intent to the satisfaction of RASWA. Written approval for this change must be received by the Exhibitor from RASWA prior to applying the award to the renamed wine Awards received by a class of wines (e.g. Most Successful Exhibitor ) shall not be used to suggest that an individual wine has received any particular distinction. These awards are not to be presented on the bottle in the form of a medal The use of gold, black and gold discs, bronze discs and silver discs to promote anniversaries, events, sponsorship and the like, must not be used. Stickers and symbols or other devices should be sufficiently differentiated from show medals in terms of shape and/or colour to ensure no confusion Any Exhibitor who in the opinion of the RASWA breaches any of these regulations or the Winemakers Federation of Australia Code of Practice for the Display of Awards may be disqualified by RASWA from exhibiting at any of its future shows as RASWA in its absolute discretion may determine. 13. PERSONAL RESULTS: Will be ed where possible to the Exhibitor. All hard copy results will be available at the Wine Exhibitors Tasting for collection. If not collected they will be posted out to the Exhibitor. 11

LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY (Extract from the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia General Show Regulations - Revised 22 August 2007) Exhibitor Accepts The lodgement of an Application of Entry form shall be deemed to be acknowledgment by the Exhibitor of his or her agreement that the Societyshall be under no liability for: No Liability for animals or birds Exhibited The loss, injury or death of any animal, (including birds) Exhibited, whether caused by, or attributable to, the negligence of the Society, or of its servants or Agent, or otherwise howsoever No Liability for property Exhibited Any loss or damage occasioned to or by any property Exhibited, whether caused by, or attributable to, the negligence of the Society,or of its servants or Agent, or otherwise howsoever No Liability for other animals, property, Exhibitor or general public Any injury or damage occasioned to any other animal or property Exhibited, or to any other Exhibitor, or to the general public, whether caused by, or attributable to, the negligence of the Society, or of its servants or Agent, or otherwise howsoever No Liability for contracting any disease or suffering animals or birds Any loss or damage suffered by any Exhibitor as a result of any disease contracted or suffered by any animals (including birds) after, or as a consequence of any animal Exhibits, or their progeny, being brought onto the Showground No Liability for livestock sales The Society and the Auctioneers of Royal Show Livestock Sales shall be under no liability to any Owner or purchaser of livestock (whether exhibited or otherwise) entered for sale or sold at any Royal Show Livestock Sale No Liability for livestock auctioned In respect of any loss or injury to such livestock; whether such loss or injury be caused by or be attributable to, the negligence of the Auctioneers speci ed in the Regulations relating to the Royal Show Livestock Sales or to the Society or any of its servants or Agents No Liability for other livestock, property, Exhibitor or general public For any injury or damage occasioned to any other livestock or property, or to any other Exhibitor, or to the general public, whether caused by, or attributable to, the negligence of the Auctioneers speci ed in the Regulations relating to the Royal Show Livestock Sales or to the Society or any of its servants or Agents No Liability for conse uential loss and loss of pro ts For any loss or damage (including without limitation consequential loss and loss of pro ts) suffered by any Owner or purchaser of livestock as a result of any disease contracted or suffered by any livestock after, or as a consequence of any livestock being entered for sale, at any Royal Show Livestock Sale Exhibits sold privately Where any animal Exhibited, or any other Exhibit, is sold privately during the time of the Royal Show the vendor thereof shall indemnify the Society against all liability to the purchaser in respect of any loss, injury, disease or damage to such animal or other Exhibit, whether such loss, injury, disease or damage be caused by or attributable to the negligence of the Society or any of its servants or Agents Accidents and Incidents Competitors, Exhibitors and Attendants must report promptly to the Society all accidents and incidents causing or likely to cause injury to persons or damage to property Trade Practices Act To the extent that any matter relating to entry or remaining upon the Showground relates to the supply of goods or services by the Society within the meaning of s. 68A of the Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cwlth), the Society s liability is limited as follows: (a) (b) in case of goods, the replacement, repair or payment for the replacement or repair of the goods. in the case of services, the re-supply of the services or the cost of the re-supply of the services. It shall be in the Society s absolute discretion as to whether it replaces, repairs or pays for replacement or repair of goods. It shall be further in the Society s discretion as to whether it re-supplies or pays the cost of re-supply or services Indemnity To the maximum extent permitted by law, each Competitor and Exhibitor must indemnify and keep indemni ed the Society and its of cers, employees, members and Agents from and, against all actions, claims, demands, losses, damages, costs, expenses and liabilities including without limitation, consequential loss and loss of pro ts for which the Society is or may be become liable in respect of or arising from: (a) (b) (c) loss, damage or injury to any person in connection with the Exhibit or the relevant Event; without limiting sub-regulation (a) loss, damage or injury to any other Exhibit or Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees, Agents, or to the property of the Society, or its members, or to the general public, caused or contributed to or by any act or omission of an Exhibit of the Exhibitor or by the Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees or Agents; and without limiting sub-regulation (a) loss, damage or injury to the Exhibit, or the Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees, or Agents caused or contributed by an act or omission of an Exhibit of the Exhibitor or by the transportation, feeding or housing of an Exhibit of the Exhibitor Removal of Exhibit Without prejudice to any other provision of these Regulations, where the Society, its of cers, employees, members or Agents remove an Exhibit, or causes an Exhibit to be removed from the Showground, the Exhibit is removed or caused to be removed entirely at the risk of the Exhibitor. The person or persons removing the Exhibit will be deemed to be the Agent of the Exhibitor, 17 and his or her acts and omissions will be deemed to be the acts and omissions of the Exhibitor.
