1 DLG-Forum - Special Smart Horticulture L-Bank Forum (Hall 1), Stand 1B51 Programme Self-controlling subsurface irrigation in vegetable cultivation The Agricultural Engineering Section at Kassel University has developed a special form of subsurface irrigation with a semi-permeable plastic material. When adapted to the humidity level in the soil, this special system can independently control the amount of water supplied with differentiation on a small, scale. The new technology was tested in field trials and proved to be far superior to rival irrigation systems, e.g. drip irrigation, in terms of control and management requirements, energy and water consumption, harvesting yield and the use of lower quality water. Dr. Andrea Dührkopp Kassel University Waterlogging of field vegetables - an insight into practical solutions through precision farming Field vegetables place high demands on the soil, its nutrient supply and the grower's knowledge. The high work demands with these crops also call for special technology in the companies. Subdisciplines of precision farming can help the company manager to better control the cultivation and success of these crops. Martin Schönberg Case IH Germany Prospects for cider fruit production - mechanisation possibilities Prof. Dr. Braun Geisenheim University
2 Presentation of the 1st to 3rd place winners among the top 100 wines and top 10 sparkling wines German Wine Awards In addition to the current performance of a company, the German Agricultural Society honours continuous and constant high-quality work with the TOP 100 list (for wine) and the TOP 10 list (for sparkling wine). The position of a winegrower in this ranking list is calculated based on the placement in the previous year and the average quality score attained by all wines entered in the current competition. Companies taking part in the competition for the German Wine Awards for the first time have an opportunity to be included in the ranking list if the overall results are correspondingly good. The main criterion for the definition of the term "quality" is ultimately its sustainability which a large number of companies can guarantee through an effective quality management system. Only this long-term maintenance of constant values radiates quality and reliability, and builds trust. DLG Food Test Centre DLG Forum, L-Bank Forum (Hall 1), Stand 1B Highly mechanised vegetable production using lettuce as an example Dr. Raffaele Talarico DLG Italia Social media in marketing an overview of the opportunities in B2B and B2C Jutta Zeisset Social media manager & proprietor of the ZEISSET museum café and farm shop DLG Forum, L-Bank Forum (Hall 1), Stand 1B Mobile online systems for irrigation control Prof. Dr. Jana Zinkernagel Geisenheim University Weed regulation using automatic control systems Automatic control systems for mechanical regulation of weeds offer benefits such as relief for the driver, more precise work in holdings and increased work speeds. Tests as part of the research project at the Bavarian State Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture in Veitshöchheim will demonstrate the utilisation limits of GPS-RTK, camera and ultrasound control systems. The initial findings from the 2016 test year will be presented. Bavarian Sabine Staub, State Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture 20 October 2016 / Page 2
3 Smart Horticulture: the networked strawberry field The objective of the networked strawberry field is to help the farmer make decisions regarding irrigation, fertilisation and pest control. To attain this objective, different autarkic sensors are used to measure the temperature, soil stress, moisture and solar radiation, and then transfer the results wirelessly from the strawberry field to the Cloud. The online portal containing all the information can be accessed at any time via a smartphone, a tablet, a computer at home or on the go. Alarms can also be triggered or actions controlled, e.g. switching on a pump. Thanks to the flexibility of the system, the information can be transmitted to other applications or released for other persons such as consultants. Elena Eberhard Schildknecht AG DLG Workshop: Prospects for mobile satellite communication with special agricultural crops DLG Test Centre for Technology and Farm Inputs Tax consultancy and accouting The sector where everyone counts Buchstelle LBV GmbH, LGG Steuerberatungsgesellschaft mbh, AgriConcept Beratungsgesellschaft mbh Mareike Lemberger, tax consultant and managing director of Buchstelle LBV GmbH, Stuttgart Sieglinde Böpple,, tax consultant and managing director of LGG Steuerberatungsgesellschaft mbh, Stuttgart from Leading and motivating employees: How do I say it to my employees? Growing businesses are increasingly reliant on good, qualified employees. Finding these employees and securing their talents for the benefit of the company is presenting an ever greater challenge. Competent employee management is required! And this represents new territory for many managers. Clear and constructive communication plays just as important a role as the skill of viewing situations from the perspective of the employee. This facilitates a far more efficient collaboration, costly errors can be avoided and there is no energy wasted on conflict. Just how this can be achieved in your business, and how you can motivate your employees, will be discussed during this presentation. 4 Uhr From customer to fan How do I use social media for my business and benefit? During the presentation "From a customer to a fan - how can I actively use social media for my company", Jutta Zeisset will describe how winegrowers and farmers can benefit from social media.
