1 WINE FROM THE MOSELLE The Moselle region is Germany s oldest wine region and one of the most famous European wine-growing regions. The Moselle river and its tributaries Saar and Ruwer flow through a region in which Celts and Romans already planted vines and produced wine more than 2000 years ago. The steep slopes of the river valleys are densely planted with vines. They shape the area like hardly any other wine landscape in the world. From the Luxembourg border to the mouth of the river Rhine in Koblenz, the Moselle river flows around 250 kilometers through Germany. The Moselle vineyards lie along both sides of the river and along its tributaries Saar and Ruwer. When the rivers dug deep into the Rhenish Slate Mountains millions of years ago, the conditions for the high level and unmistakable character of the Moselle wines were set out. The special climate of the river valleys and the slate soils of the vineyards are the basis for the distinctive, mineral Rieslings of the region. 21 CHAMPAGNE Louis Roederer Louis Roederer is the favorite brand of the Romantik Hotel group Founded in 1776 under a different name, the champagne house came under the expert control of Louis Roederer in As an entrepreneur with high aesthetic requirements, the new owner had his own vision. 25 WINE TREASURY Our employees are happy to inform you about the possibility of a wine tasting! The Verband Deutscher Prädikats- und Qualitätsweingüter e. V. (VDP) or the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates is an organization of about 200 wine estates in Germany that stands for binding quality standards and the ecological cultivation of its members wineries. Founded in 1910 as Verband Deutscher Naturweinversteigerer e. V., Association of German Natural Wine Auctioneers, about 200 wine estates are its members nowadays. The Bernkasteler Ring e.v. was founded on April 29, 1899, in Bernkastel-Kues as an association of vineyard owners of the Central Moselle. At the moment, the association includes 34 wineries along the rivers Moselle, Saar and Ruwer. The family-run wine estates produce high-quality Riesling wines in the best steep slopes of the Moselle river. At national and international wine competitions, the wines are regularly highly awarded.
