We won t miss the noise and mayhem outside. If you want to avoid the construction and parking congestion, shop on Saturday. There is no construction work on Saturday, and the parking lots are wide open DRY, ZESTY SEAFOOD WHITE 2013 Muscadet-Cotes de Grand Lieu (Eric Chevalier) Muscadet is a French wine classic the bone dry white from the Atlantic coast where the Loire River empties into the ocean. Made from Melon de Bourgogne, a relative of Chardonnay, it is in essence a simple country wine, bottled directly from the fermentation vat without extended ageing. This 2013 from Eric Chevalier is a refined version of the old school style it is subtle rather than flamboyant, it exudes class, and it has remarkable presence for a wine in its price range. Ruelle-Pertois is a very small family-owned producer in Moussy, just outside Epernay. They own 15 acres of vineyards, mostly Grand Crus in Cramant, Chouilly and Oiry, and produce a grand total of 4000 cases a year. Their current Blanc de Blancs release is mostly 2008 juice, and spent five-and-a-half years on its lees before disgorgement. A beautiful Champagne in the classic style, its flavors and aromas are a remarkably complex and engaging balance of freshness and age. This is the best Champagne value on the market this year. Light gold. Vibrant lemon and green apple scents are complemented by deeper hints of toasty lees and hazelnut. Silky and open-knit, offering juicy citrus and orchard fruit flavors and a hint of sweet butter. Shows good lift and energy on the finish, which features subtle mineral and lemon curd qualities. 2 A WOW VINTAGE FROM ONE OF SONOMA S GREAT ARTISANS 2010 Pinot Noir Russian River (Scherrer) Fred Scherrer may be under the radar outside of Sonoma, but he is a masterful Pinot Noir artisan. His newly released 2010 Russian River Pinot Noir is sensational. Its aroma is amazingly deep and rich, dominated by ripe blackberry and blueberry fruit and embedded with all sorts of spice and forest floor complexities. It has a mesmerizing presence on the palate. Its Pinot Noir fruit is perfectly rendered, lush, delicious, and just rippling with flavor. It has tremendous depth. Vibrant flavors slather across your tongue from front to back, without any heaviness or clumsiness. One moment you are impressed by its knee-buckling purity, the next by the ever-changing nuances it displays. This is reference standard California Pinot Noir, and not at all expensive for its quality. It will wow your guests whether they are Pinot Noir fans or not Pinot Noir Russian River (Scherrer) $50.00 HALF-CASE SPECIAL 15 Percent Off $ ($255.00/6 bottles = $42.50/bottle) 2010 BaroloS The 2010 vintage in Barolo is shaping up to be a modern-day classic. The cool growing season produced transparent, vibrant Barolos that pulsate with tension, crystalline purity and site-specific nuance. They have all of the attributes of a cool, late-ripening vintage: expressive aromatics, chiseled fruit, plenty of sitespecificity and the potential to develop beautifully for years and decades in bottle. At the same time, the wines have gorgeous depth and richness. A number of growers mentioned that the berry size was small in 2010, which explains why the wines have the tannic presence they do. It is a year that will appeal to classicists, as the wines are translucent and incredibly expressive. Stylistically, the 2010s remind me of the 2004s, but with more mid-palate pliancy and overall depth. Simply put, 2010 is the greatest young Barolo vintage I have tasted in 18 years of visiting the region and a lifetime of buying, cellaring and drinking these wines. - Antonio Galloni, The Wine Advocate NOVEMBER SPECIAL - 15 PERCENT OFF on purchases of six or more bottles of 2010 Barolos Regular 15% Off Price Price 2010 Barolo (Giuliano Corino)... $ $ Giuliano Corino's 2010 Barolo is dark, fleshy and attractive. Dark red and cherry plum notes meld into spices, tobacco and licorice in a juicy, open Barolo with considerable near-term appeal. This is one of the juicier 2010 Barolos I tasted (88/100) 2010 Barolo (Mario Marengo)... $ $ The 2010 Barolo is beautifully perfumed in the glass. Fine tannins support a core of sweet red berries, mint, flowers and spices meld together in a layered Barolo bursting with class and personality. There is Pinot-like sweetness and perfume in the 2010 that is hugely appealing. The long, generous finish and sweet tannins are going to make it impossible to resist young. Marengo's Barolo is one of the highlights of the vintage (91/100) 2010 Barolo Rocche dell Annunziata (Renato Corino)... $ $ A big, sweeping wine, Corino's 2010 Rocche dell Annunziata bursts from the glass with layers of sweet, intensely perfumed dark red fruit, flowers, mint, licorice and sweet spices. A vivid, striking wine, it flows across the palate with superb depth and purity. The creamy, textured finish is pure Rocche. This may very well be the finest Rocche Renato Corino has ever made, and that includes the 1990.The young Nebbiolo tannins are there, but they are virtually covered by the richness of the fruit (96/100) 2010 Barolo Marenca (Luigi Pira)... $ $ A dark, full throttle wine, the 2010 Marenca shows off all of its typical richness and intensity. Here it is the wine's texture and volume that speak most clearly. Today, the Marenca is remarkable primary, with virtually nothing in the way of flavor development. Readers need to be patient, but the 2010 has more than enough structure to develop well in bottle for many years (94+/100) 2

Bright, racy and pure, offering fresh raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that put on weight with air. Sweeter and fuller on the finish, which features soft tannins and a late kick of white pepper. Distinctly elegant Chateauneuf with no excess weight. (91-93/100) - Josh Raynolds, International Wine Cellar 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau (Vieux Télégraphe)... $ $ Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau (Vieux Télégraphe)...375ml $ $ Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau (Vieux Télégraphe)...1.5L$ $ Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau (Vieux Télégraphe)...3.0L$ $ Bright ruby. Intense raspberry and cherry aromas are complicated by hints of lavender, spicecake and blood orange. Juicy and fruit-driven, with palate-coating flavors of sweet, spicetinged red fruits and candied flowers. Quite suave and seamless, boasting striking purity to its red fruit- and mineral-driven finish. Those who decry the ripeness and heady character of most Chateauneufs owe it to themselves to try this wine. (92-94/100) - Josh Raynolds, International Wine Cellar The 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape, a blend of 65% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre, and 5% Cinsault from 65-year-old vines, is a classic example and possesses gorgeous aromatics (kirsch, garrigue, big minerality and background meatiness), medium to full-bodied richness and a firm, tannic spine. (93-95/100) - Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate CLOS SAINT JEAN 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes (Clos Saint Jean)... $ $ Opaque ruby. High-pitched raspberry, floral pastille and Asian spice aromas are deepened by notes of cola and licorice. Deeper and darker in character on the palate, offering sweet cherry and black raspberry flavors and a suggestion of spicecake. Finishes silky and long, with exotic spice and floral qualities and smooth, well-knit tannins. (90-92/100) - Josh Raynolds, International Wine Cellar Made from old vines and a blend of roughly 85% Grenache and the balance Mourvedre and Syrah, the 2012 Vieilles Vignes has kirsch, garrigue, ground herbs and black raspberry as well as a full-bodied, decadently textured profile on the palate. Despite the richness level here, it remains gorgeously fresh and even elegant. Enjoy it over the coming years. (92-95/100) - Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Combe des Fous (Clos Saint Jean)... $ $ The smoking good 2012 La Combe des Fous (60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and the rest Muscardin, Vaccarese and Cinsault) is a structured, serious wine that gives up notions of blackberry, currants, melted licorice and assorted meaty nuances that flow to a full-bodied, seamless wine that has terrific fruit intensity, masses of fine tannin and a blockbuster finish. Give it 3-4 years in the cellar and drink it through (95-97/100) - Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Deus Ex Machina (Clos Saint Jean)... $ $ The largest-scaled and structured of the lineup, the 2012 Deus Ex Machina is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvedre. Deep, concentrated and dense, with a massive core of dark berry and currant fruit, graphite, ground pepper, pan drippings and dusty earth aromas and flavors, this blockbuster effort is incredibly full-bodied, yet never puts a foot wrong. It will require a handful of years in the cellar and then age gracefully for two decades. (97-100/100) - Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Sanctus Sanctorum (Clos Saint Jean)...1.5L$ $ The Sanctus Sanctorum is 100% Grenache that s both a vineyard selection and a cellar selection. The 2012 certainly looks as good as the 2010 and 2009 did at this point and offers up a kaleidoscope of aromas and flavors, with notions of kirsch, blackberry, graphite, ground pepper and spice all emerging from the glass. Full-bodied and deeply concentrated, with a stacked mid-palate and ultra-fine tannin, this seamless beauty will totally thrill for two decades or more. There is good precision and fine volume to the mineral-inflected, suave and punchy medium weight flavors that exhibit fine balance on the impressively long finish. There is a sense of harmony here and overall this is a relatively refined Gevrey villages (89-91/100) 2012 Chambolle-Musigny (Joseph Drouhin)... $ $ Here the nose offers a big step up in aromatic elegance with its cool and admirably pure red currant and spice scents. There is evident minerality on the equally refined middle weight flavors that possess fine delineation on the clean, restrained and attractively persistent finish. Lovely and very Chambolle (89-91/100) 2012 Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru (Joseph Drouhin)... $ $ A gentle application of wood sets off the fresh, ripe and refined aromas of various red berries, anise, clove and sandalwood. There is a velvety and highly seductive mouth feel to the beautifully textured medium weight flavors that display plenty of minerality on the lush yet well-detailed finish that is firm and mildly austere but not hard. This should amply reward up to a decade of cellaring (90-93/100) THIERRY MATROT MEURSAULT 2012 Maranges Vieilles Vignes (Thierry Matrot)... $ $ The elegant nose features primarily dark berry fruit aromas. There is an attractive mouth feel to the agreeably textured and rich medium weight flavors that also display some rusticity yet overall this is really very good for what it is. Worth considering as an all-around house red (88/100) THOMAS MOREY CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET 2012 Santenay Grand Clos Rousseau (Thomas Morey)... $ $ Beaune Les Grèves (Thomas Morey)... $ $ VINCENT MOREY CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET 2012 Santenay Les Gravières (Vincent Morey)... $ $ BOUCHARD PERE & FILS BEAUNE 2012 Beaune Les Teurons (Bouchard)... $ $ Deep red. Aromas of black raspberry, blueberry, bitter chocolate and licorice, along with a whiff of game; I would have picked this blind as a Cote de Nuits wine. Sweet, dense and juicy, with very good chalky lift to the ripe, concentrated dark fruit and dark chocolate flavors. Still tight on the back end, finishing with rich, broad tannins and subtle lingering perfume. (89-92/100) - Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 2012 Beaune Clos de la Mousse (Bouchard)... $ $ Bright red. Medicinal red cherry liqueur and mint on the nose. Supple and sweet on entry, then primary and vibrant in the middle, offering tart cranberry, redcurrant and slightly bitter citrus zest flavors. This very primary wine finishes with slightly dry tannins and a licorice nuance. I like the balance of density and lift. 5 2012 Beaune Les Grèves-Vigne de L Enfant Jésus (Bouchard)... $ $ Good dark red. Pungent aromas of black cherry and licorice. Supple but cool and dry in the mouth, with a savory quality to the black cherry and mint flavors. Very fine-grained wine with excellent length and a light touch, clearly in an early-harvest style. A majority of these vines date back to (90-92/100) - Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 2012 Le Corton (Bouchard)... $ $ Good deep red. Slightly reduced, soil-driven aromas of redcurrant, smoke and underbrush. Sweet and pliant on the palate but with nicely integrated acidity framing the red and dark fruit and chimney smoke flavors. A cooler style of 2012, displaying excellent balance and a light touch. Fine tannins reach the front teeth on the long, complex aftertaste. (91-93/100) - Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 2012 Chambolle-Musigny (Bouchard)... $ $ Good deep red. Complex, ripe aromas of redcurrant, dark raspberry and musky coffee. Fat and sweet but a bit youthfully reduced, with dark fruit and licorice flavors showing an almost chocolatey ripeness. Finishes sweet and persistent, with smooth tannins. (87-89/100) - Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 2012 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots (Bouchard)... $ $ Bright, dark red. Much sweeter on the nose than the Beaux Monts, offering scents of black raspberry and coffee. Supple, round and sweet; seems much more gently extracted and less bitter than the Beaux Monts. The dark raspberry and coffee flavors carry through to the persistent, juicy aftertaste, which features a fine dusting of tannins and excellent length. (90-93/100) - Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 2012 Chambertin Clos de Beze (Bouchard)... $ $ Bright, dark red. Nuanced, high-pitched nose combines rose petal, peony, minerals, crushed stone and coffee. Savory, intense and light on its feet, with bright acidity framing the red berry and rose petal flavors. Not a fleshy style but vibrant, sharply chiseled and very long--and likely to be long-lived. This fruit was picked at the end of the harvest, at the beginning of October. (93-95/100) - Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar Vincent Girardin s 2012 White Burgundies NOVEMBER SPECIAL - 15 PERCENT OFF on purchases of six or more bottles of 2012 White Burgundies Regular 15% Off Price Price 2012 Saint Aubin Les Murgers des Dents de Chien (Vincent Girardin)... $ $ Meursault Les Narvaux (Vincent Girardin)... $ $ A moderate amount of pain grillé frames aromas of hazelnut and dried yellow orchard fruit scents. The middle weight flavors are very rich, indeed even unctuous with plenty of volume and mouth coating dry extract on the delicious citrus-infused finish that is both clean and agreeably dry. (87-89/100) 2012 Puligny-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes (Vincent Girardin)... $ $ Meursault Les Charmes - Dessus (Vincent Girardin)... $ $ Impressively concentrated and quite powerful for the appellation with its plenitude of palate soaking dry extract yet the middle weight flavors possess a lovely sense of vibrancy and absolutely no sense of undue heaviness on the solidly complex and sneaky long finish where an attractive minerality surfaces. (89-92/100) 2012 Chassagne-Montrachet Clos du Cailleret (Vincent Girardin)... $ $ Marked ripe and moderately exotic aromas of dried peach, apricot and pineapple are trimmed in mild oak toast. The mouth feel of the middle weight flavors is finer and more precise though there is ample volume and richness here as well, all wrapped in a mineral-inflected persistent finish. (89-91/100) 2012 Meursault Les Perrières (Vincent Girardin)... $ $ This is much more restrained than the Charmes, in fact it's so restrained that it is all but mute and only aggressive swirling liberates citrus, floral, white fruit and wet stone hints. There is outstanding intensity to the penetratingly mineral-driven and markedly precise flavors that possess plenty of underlying tension before culminating in a saline, balanced and seriously long finish. Good stuff and this is very Perrières in basic character. (90-92/100) 2012 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières (Vincent Girardin)... $ $

LOIRE SURVEY WITH DAGUENEAU 2012s THURSDAY 11/13 Here is a diverse but very engaging lineup of Loire Valley wines. It leads off with excellent recent vintage versions of Muscadet and Sancerre, followed by two sensational, just-arrived 2012 Pouilly-Fumes from Benjamin Dagueneau.
