01 Riccardo Ceretto THE SELECTION AND THE WINE (1930s) Founded the Ceretto Winery in Alba. 02 Bruno e Marcello Ceretto THE IDEA AND THE BRAINWAVE (1960s) After careful selection, they acquired vineyards in the most historically important positions. It was the brilliant idea of the cru that brought the Ceretto wines to the elite world of enology. 03 The third generation DEVELOPMENT AND THE FUTURE (TODAY) The children of Bruno and Marcello joined the company in order to drive it towards new goals. 160 hectares of estate-owned vineyards, 4 wineries, 17 different wines, 150 employees between the vineyards, wineries and office, customers between wine shops and restaurants in Italy, 60 countries of export. The guiding principles of Ceretto have always been the region and the people: both the enhancement of the particular characteristics of the Langhe and its wines and the involvement of people who work in the company have always been the drivers in the recurring theme of the company s philosophy. Ceretto. A story of family. The Ceretto family

1800s 1960s Riccardo Ceretto, born in Valdivilla (a hamlet of Santo Stefano Belbo) founded 01Late the Ceretto Winery in Alba. Bruno and Marcello selected and acquired vineyards in the Langhe and Roero, including some of the best crus of Barolo and Barbaresco for the vinification and marketing of their wines. 1970s The 1st vineyard property at Bricco Asili was purchased (Barbaresco ) and the winery of the same name was constructed (1973) The winery I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano (Winegrowers of Santo Stefano) was established for the vinification of Moscato d Asti(1976). Construction of the winery at Bricco Rocche in Castiglione Falletto began (1978/1982). 02 Marcello and Bruno Ceretto Bricco Rocche Winery, Castiglione Falletto

031980s Blangè was born, the iconic wine of Ceretto winery (1985). The first release of the Barolo Bricco Rocche (1982) was celebrated with two international events at the Barolo Castle and the Four Seasons in New York. The company changed location to Monsordo Bernardina Estate, Alba (1989). 1990s The children of Bruno and Marcello joined the company: Lisa, Roberta, Alessandro and Federico (1999). The Relanghe project was started (1993) to raise the profile of the I.G.P Piedmont Hazelnut and one of its symbols: Italian nougat. The Chapel in Brunate, La Morra (1999) was renovated for the work of artists David Tremlett and Sol LeWitt: the first contemporary art initiative by the family. 04 Blangè vineyard, Vezza d Alba Federico, Lisa, Alessandro and Roberta Ceretto

052000/2010 The Glass Cube was constructed at Bricco Rocche (2000), now one of the architectural symbols of Barolo. The Terroirs project was born (2003), thanks to partnerships with important foreign producers. The two restaurants in Alba were inaugurated (2005): La Piola and Piazza Duomo. In 2006, the first Michelin star was awarded to Enrico Crippa, the second in 2009 and the third in The Grape was opened (2009) at the Monsordo Bernardina Estate, the cellar door and hosting venue of the Ceretto Family. SINCE 2010 The Artist s House was constructed (2010), on the hill overlooking the Monsordo Bernardina Estate. Enrico Crippa received the third Michelin star (2012). International artists were involved for contemporary art exhibitions. Piazza Duomo was expanded with the opening of 4 rooms to accommodate guests of our restaurants. Ceretto is looking to the future with the utmost enthusiasm. Their projects of wine, fine food, hospitality and art are continually evolving and growing. 06 The Grape, Tenuta Monsordo Bernardina Estate Anselm Kiefer - Der Rhein exhibition, Alba

WINERY Ceretto Monsordo Bernardina Estate, Alba In 1987 the Cerettos chose this century old farmhouse on the outskirts of Alba and transformed it into a modern and wellequipped head office. The Monsordo Bernardina Estate is the real nerve centre of Ceretto, housing all administrative and marketing activities, offices and warehouse that collects the wines from the 4 different family-owned wineries, as well as being home to the production of the historic labels of the family. Pushed forward by the creative ambition and innovative spirit, in 2009 the family opened the doors of Ceretto winery for guests: and so was born the futuristic grape ( Acino ), a modernist space dedicated to wine tasting, winery tours, meetings, conferences and cultural events. After a careful search, which lasted for years, four estate vineyards in the Barolo area were selected. The heart of the property is the Bricco Rocche winery of Castiglione Falletto, designed in accordance with modern architectural principles, but respecting the functional needs and in harmony with the surrounding landscape. The winery vinifies only Barolo, from grapes grown on the 11 hectares located in the communes of La Morra (Brunate), Serralunga (Prapò), Castiglione Falletto (Bricco Rocche) and Barolo (Cannubi San Lorenzo) for a production of a limited number but of excellent quality. The introduction in 2000 of the futuristic and artistic glass cube has made it one of the most distinctive and admired wineries in the area, a symbol suggestive of the value of the wine produced here. In 2013 artist Valerio Berruti was commissioned to create the entrance gate to the winery, entitled Protect me, everywhere. 8 WINERY Bricco Asili Barbaresco Bricco Asili is a small château, the first Piedmontese example of a winery in the vineyards built in 1973 by the Ceretto family and it is still there today, even at the peak of production of Barbaresco. The name comes from the location of the vineyard, Bricco Asili, on the top of the Asili hill in the village of Barbaresco. The company makes exclusively the 2 Barbaresco cru of the family, Asili in the commune of Barbaresco and Bernardot in Treiso. With a sort of metaphorical return to their origins, in 1976 the Ceretto brothers, together with two other families (Sergio Santi and brothers Gianpiero and Andrea Scavino) founded I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano (Winegrowers of Santo Stefano) in the home town of their father Riccardo. The purpose of the project, a challenge: to enhance the enormous potential of the producers of the area and the quality of Moscato d Asti. The winery owns 25 hectares and rents from San Maurizio estate a prestigious hillside area of about 20 hectares in the municipality of Santo Stefano Belbo. Today I Vignaioli produces Moscato d Asti and Asti Spumante with the technical and commercial collaboration of Ceretto. WINERY I Vignaioli di S. It is like a beautiful woman, forever young. Turning 30 this year, Arneis was among the first big gambles taken by Ceretto. Imagine we are in 1985: it s hard to think of a white in the land of great red wines. The first parcel of land was purchased in the hills of Vezza D Alba, 7 hectares, where the rare indigenous vine would give a lot more than just a new label to the collection, it triggered a change in the entire winegrowing area. Fruity, light perlage, the Blangè is now popular all over the world, and it is a wine which, in its intriguing French-sounding name, evokes a concept of elegance. The term comes from the word boulanger, the neighbourhood French baker from days gone by. Authentic, straightforward, lively, contemporary starting with the label, cheeky, created by the Milanese designer Silvio Coppola to reveal, as if through a seductive split, the intense soul of Blangè. 12 Sustainable oenology and agriculture ORGANICS AND BIODYNAMICS. The term Organic Farming is a method of farming that allows only the use of natural substances present in nature, and prohibits the use of synthetic chemical substances (fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides). This is the new challenge of the Ceretto family, carried forward firmly by Alessandro Ceretto. Our vineyards are all planted according to the organic farming model, which avoids the over-exploitation of natural resources, in particular of the soil, water and air, using these resources within a model of development that will withstand the test of time. Sustainable agriculture is for us a new starting point that will lead us towards new goals and results. Respecting the earth beneath our feet and the fruit that it bears means to respect ourselves, safeguarding the health of all. I want to be a promoter, in my country, of a new culture of organic farming. I feel that it is the right way, so we are taking the path of organic certification, says Alessandro Ceretto, the winery s winemaker. BIODYNAMIC APPROACH. The fundamental aspect of a biodynamic approach is to care for the invisible, what lives in our soil. This model, even more intense than organic, tries to re-establish the links between the plant and nature that hosts, reinforcing the defenses at different stages. It is a concept and a way of working which we have adopted since the beginning of the new millennium and has already shown to provide significant improvements in terms of quality in our products. Practising biodynamics involves firstly a review of our attitude to the world around us to return to its origins and to revive the land. In recent decades, agriculture has seen the application of rules and traditional industrial uses oriented solely to increasing production at the expense of the relationship with nature. Uniqueness and variety have been lost in favor of specialization and quantity, more robust and productive clones have replaced the original plants, the relationships between plants and the environment have become increasingly complicated. In 2010, we started to follow this approach in Barolo and Barbaresco: today we are implementing biodynamics to all our Cru vineyards, to which must be added the vineyards of the Monsordo Bernardina estate, resulting in a total of about 30 ha. Given the positive results that emerged from our first tests, our goal for the future is to ensure the entirety of the family s vineyards are grown biodynamically, with the necessary timeframe required by this approach. The biodynamic methods, in fact, if conducted with the utmost seriousness and conviction, takes a long time to be introduced in a vineyard area like ours. 130 hectares is a great challenge that will positively revolutionize the history of our wines, and also bring back a healthy, lush soil, strong and in full harmony with man. SUMMARY OF SOME METHODS THAT APPLY TO OUR VINEYARDS: Methods of biological defense: small amounts of copper, anti-meldew mildew, zolfoantioidico, natural pyrethrum against insects. Obviously, no use of herbicides and chemical fertilizers. Use of biodynamic preparations 500 and 501, respectively horn manure and horn silica advance dynamized. Processing of vegetable and animal substances that have the purpose of improving the vitality of the soil and stimulate the photosynthetic capacity of the plants. Use of compost, manure maturing in mounds, with the use of biodynamic preparations from the mounds. Agricultural operations (ex.pruning) respecting the lunar calendars as much as possible. Planting between the rows of green manure, or mixtures of grasses, legumes, brassicaceae (cabbage family), etc, with the aim of improving the structure of the soil and its fertility. Working in alternating rows to minimise compaction and soil erosion.

Piazza Duomo Restaurant Alba, 2005 Food, like philosophy, like society, is a culture of conviviality and of exchanges around the table, a true language with its own grammar of taste, mediated by the land. It is in this spirit that in 2005, the Ceretto family, together with chef Enrico Crippa, inaugurated two restaurants: La Piola and Piazza Duomo. Two kitchens, two souls in one building in Piazza Risorgimento, in the heart of the historic centre of Alba. Enrico Crippa Born in Carate Brianza in Obtained a diploma from the Institute of Hospitality of Monte Olimpino in Como. Started at the age of 16 in the historic restaurant in Milan of Gualtiero Marchesi. This marked the beginning of a dazzling career that would give him the opportunity to work with the best chefs in Europe. In 1996 he started in Kobe, Japan, the restaurant of Marchesi, where he stayed for a little while before going to the Rhiga Royal Hotel in Osaka until These 3 years abroad were crucial for the development of his cuisine. He returned to Italy in 2003, where a meeting with the Ceretto family allowed him to create, in 2005, the Piazza Duomo restaurant in Alba. The project represents a new and ambitious challenge that combines some of the Ceretto family passions, art and culture, haute cuisine and fine wine. At Piazza Duomo Crippa unleashed his imagination and his knowledge of the raw materials descending into a reality that has the colors and lines typical of art. To broaden the artistic project, of the Ceretto family and Enrico Crippa, Francesco Clemente was commissioned to create the magnificent fresco that decorates the main dining room of the restaurant. Since the beginning of Piazza Duomo Enrico Crippa has shown his talent, recognized in 2006 with the first Michelin star and confirmed in December 2009 with the second star. In 2012, the third star.

Piazza Duomo The rooms Alba, 2014 The Restaurant Piazza Duomo offers to its customers three charming guest rooms and one suite, in a minimalist but comfortable style. It provides an opportunity to indulge in a three-starred dinner or lunch and have a pleasant stay in the heart of Alba. The accommodation is available to customers of the Piazza Duomo and La Piola restaurants.

La Piola Restaurant Alba, 2005 In Piola, the atmosphere is friendly, almost like family. The guests are personally involved to compose their own menu as written on the large blackboard located on the main wall of the dining room. The dishes, typical ofpiedmontese tradition, are carefully prepared by chef Dennis Panzeri and supervised by Enrico Crippa; every day Dennis adds to the wide range of classical appetizers and desserts a selection of daily specials, strictly from this region. The design of La Piola was conceived by the Ceretto family to convey the culinary tradition of the Langhe, to savor the tastes that have been handed down over the centuries and which must not be lost. Only by educating good food and good habits, you can preserve this great heritage. La Piola s wine list offers wines from Ceretto, as well as a fine selection of local producers. To broaden the project, various artists were involved to create the unique plates adorning the tables of La Piola: Donald Baechler, James Brown, Robert Indiana, Adam Fuss, Terry Winters, Kiki Smith, Philop Taaffe, John Baldessari, Lynn Davis, Thomas Nozkowski, Gary Hume and Cletus Johnson.

Relanghe Alba, 1993 Alba is renowned worldwide for its white truffles and for its wines, but it is also for the whiteness of its sugar that is blended with honey and the hazelnuts of Piedmont to give life to its most characteristic sweet, Nougat. It was in 1993 when the Ceretto family decided to realize a dream to salvage a chapter in the history of this unique confectionery: thus was created the Relanghe Nougat Factory. The focus is on the I.G.P Piedmont Hazelnut, a valuable raw material, that becomes a product of excellence only by taking care of all the processing stages. For this purpose Relanghe follows the Hazelnut in every step: from tree to production, to ensure the highest quality throughout the production chain and allow complete traceability of the product. LA TORTA DI NOCCIOLA (HAZELNUT CAKE) OF ALBA As a symbol of this meticulous workmanship, method Relanghe was created, a very short production chain whose main value lies in the manufacturing of the Hazelnut: the selection, drying, shelling, hand sorting, roasting and benchmarking. The final production process then follows traditional recipes that allow the Relanghe to be a product of artisanal excellence. Relanghe has developed a special version of one of the most traditional sweets of the Langhe, the Hazelnut Cake. Chefs Enrico Crippa and Dennis Panzeri have added their innovative flair to rework a recipe that pays tribute to the local traditions.

Arbiora Bubbio (AT) In the continuous quest in search of quality products from our region, in 2012 we started a project aimed at the selection of the best goat cheeses with a particular focus on the mountains of Cuneo which produce the precious Castelmagno. In this case, we have focused on the concept of a complete production chain involving family dairy farms to ensure from the very beginning the utmost freshness and quality of the milk. As a guarantee of the aging process, it is carried out in the cellars of Bubbio, reclaimed from the ancient textile mill, home of Arbiora.

ARCHITECTURE The Cube Bricco Rocche Winery, Castiglione Falletto, 2000 Located on the top of Bricco Rocche in Castiglione Falletto, the project involved an extension to the existing winery. The design was oriented towards landscapearchitecture that, being totally transparent, is intended to be like a sculpture in a unique environment. The Cube is a work of modern and technological art placed as a seal of the tradition and conservation of a masterpiece of nature, Barolo. The Cube has sharp edges and a solid foundation, angular like a young Barolo, with a robust structure and great longevity. The use of frameless glass, so as not to obstruct the view, maximises the use of the surrounding landscape. The winery of Bricco Rocche, in fact, is located in the geographic center of the Barolo area.

ARCHITECTURE The Grape Monsordo Bernardina Estate, Alba, 2009 This project was completed in 2009, and reflects the Ceretto spirit, perfectly poised between tradition and innovation. The old farmhouse of the Monsordo- Bernardina Estate has been integrated with a new space dedicated to wine tasting, promotion of meetings and cultural events. An area with a modern design that looks out over the beautiful hills of the Langhe. A lightweight object, totally transparent, which fits harmoniously into the surrounding environment. The design choice was directed at bold and decidedly technological architecture: a large oval bubble suspended between the vines to represent a grape. A new work of art made with an innovative material, EFTE, which here is experimented with in a small form of a complex shape.

ARCHITECTURE The Artist s House Monsordo Bernardina Estate, Alba, 2010 Immersed in the vineyards of Monsordo Bernardina Estate, the Artist s House is a modern loft designed on a project by Bill Katz from the restoration of an old farmhouse. The furniture, straight-lined to integrate with the surrounding landscape, includes a four-poster bed specifically designed by the artist Anselm Kiefer. The Artist s House, together with its studio, is the perfect place to welcome artists from all over the world to spend some time in our area, to get to know and be inspired, as has been done by Kiki Smith, James Brown, Francesco Clemente, Miquel Barceló and Gary Hume.

ART The Chapel BY SOL LEWITT AND DAVID TREMLETT Brunate vineyard of La Morra, 1999 Built in 1914 as a shelter for those who worked in the surrounding vineyards in the event of thunderstorms or hailstorms, the unconsecrated Chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Grace was purchased by the Ceretto family in 1976 along with 6 hectares of the prestigious vineyard of Brunate. In ruins after years of neglect, it has now become one of the most famous buildings in the area thanks to the reinterpretation given by artists Sol LeWitt and David Tremlett in The idea was inspired sharing a glass of Barolo and enjoying the majesty of the landscape. The artists were immediately taken by the idea of restoring the crumbling building and after dividing the work equally, Tremlett the interior decoration, warm and serene, and LeWitt the external work, playful, lively, they gave it new life.

ART The Fresco FRANCESCO CLEMENTE Restaurant Piazza Duomo, Alba, 2007 Piazza Duomo is known for the culinary expertise of Crippa, but to the culinary art of the chef, you add an additional masterpiece that makes this restaurant unique and special. In keeping with the passion for contemporary art that accompanies the projects of the Ceretto family, throughout the time of Piazza Duomo dominates a fresco of the Neapolitan artist Francesco Clemente. A giant grape leaf, a tribute to the family, hugging a map of the world with five continents while the branches ramify in a series of metaphorical images along the 4 walls of the room with soft colors that are inspired by the landscape of the Langhe.

ART Ovunque proteggimi Wherever I am, protect me VALERIO BERRUTI Bricco Rocche, 2012 Cor-ten steel, plasma cut, is the material used to create a sculptural gate designed to demarcate - or protect, as the name suggests - the property of Bricco Rocche, one of the iconic crus of the production of Barolo by the Cerettos. Clean lines casting shadows form a fundamental and integral part of the work. The two subjects, side by side when the gate is closed, reveal a special relationship with the surrounding area. Watching them from the outside you get the impression that they re directing their gaze to the winery. In the same way, observing them from inside the gate, we find them again, from behind, apparently looking towards the Castle of Serralunga.

ART The works of Kiki Smith La Piola, Alba 2014 An exceptional artistic intervention has affected La Piola in Under the porticoes that lead to the Ceretto family restaurant of traditional cuisine, shine the stars of Kiki Smith. A poetic design, made by gold leaf, adorns the outside wall and completes the installation created two years ago for the interior of the dining room. Kiki Smith began her collaboration in 2010, the year in which she was part of the 1st exhibition organized by the Ceretto family. In 2011 she was then hosted for over two months in the Artist s House, which inspired some of her works. In 2012 she created two works.the two large chandeliers, two suspended birdcages that enriches the new room of the Piola. She is also one of the 9 artists who have created their own plate of Fond Memory reinterpreted in a contemporary way for the restaurant.

Donald Baechler (Hartford, Connecticut, 1956) The Artists in La Piola John Baldessari (National City, California, 1931) James Brown (Los Angeles, California, 1951) Lynn Davis (Minneapolis, Minnesota, 1944) Robert Indiana (New Castle, Indiana, 1928) Thomas Nozkowski (New Jersey, New York, 1944) Kiki Smith (Nuremburg, West Germany, 1954) Inspired by the long-standing tradition of Piatto del Buon Ricordo (Plate of Fond Memory), common in Italian trattorias, we wanted to create an updated version with a contemporary twist. So we commissioned a handful of world famous artists to create works of art that were transformed into unique plates that decorate the tables of La Piola. Nine artists each with 4 works of art. For assistance and advice, we involved Bill Katz, the architect responsible for the renovation of the two restaurants in (photo: Kiki Smith for La Piola, Alba, 2014) Philip Taaffe (Elizabeth, New Jersey, 1955) Terry Winters (Brooklyn, New York, 1949)

It was the early 80s when the Ceretto family dared to create a new, cutting-edge look for their range of wines. Quality and creativity stand out of the Made in Italy declared as much within the bottle, as on the label and sometimes the bottle itself. The concept was created by the brilliant designer Silvio Coppola, who created a elegant cut-out graphic based on the historical house labels and in 1985 produced the unique Blangè label. In the 90s, Italo Lupi and Giacomo Bersanetti began their collaboration designing bottles with unusual shapes (I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano, Arbarei and Monsordo) and labels that are true works of art. 33 Online wine shop Doyouwine is an online wine shop and was created in Piedmont, Alba, in the Langhe - by a group of professionals who love the products of the land they call home: Federico and Alessandro Ceretto (Ceretto), Gianluca Canè, Valerio and Fulvio Germanetto (Blulab - web agency), and Andrea De Giorgi (RW Consulting - business management), great friends and entrepreneurs passionate about Internet and wine. The basic idea is ambitious: to use the web to sell excellent wines, injecting passion and culture into the business. Wine is a pleasure, culture and a hobby. In this way, a wine shop is like a library or film archive: it is full of stories and life. The challenge is to improve every day the selection of wines offered for sale online: obviously the Ceretto wines, but also Piedmontese wines from small producers but of the highest quality and other classic and respected regions of Italy. In recent times, Doyouwine has expanded its offerings to other products, such as beer and oil, to satisfy the demands of a wide and varied public, as is that of the web.
