3 2018 BAROSSA WINE SHOW - PROGRAM All exhibitors must be current contributors to the 2018 Barossa Wine Industry Fund. If you are unsure about whether you are a current contributor, please contact Ashleigh via ashleigh@barossa.com before entry. BY 5pm FRIDAY 27 JULY 2018 Entries, together with entry fees are to be finalised & entered online via Cost: $70 per entry (inc GST). Please note that entry fees are non-refundable. No late entries will be accepted. Payment to be made via credit card at time of entry. If required, cheques can be made payable to: Barossa Grape & Wine Association (BGWA) A tax invoice will be issued upon receipt of entry fees. BETWEEN MONDAY 27 AND FRIDAY 31 AUGUST 2018 Labelled exhibits to be delivered to: Peter Lehmann Wines Old Redemption Cellar, Para Road, Tanunda between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm Please ensure that the carton note is clearly visible on the box. Please make sure that each individual entry is in its own six pack box. BY MONDAY 3 SEPTEMBER 2018 Make sure you ve booked your seats for the Presentation Dinner! MONDAY 10, TUESDAY 11 AND WEDNESDAY 12 SEPTEMBER 2018 Judging of exhibits at the Barossa Wine Show. THURSDAY EVENING 13 SEPTEMBER 2018 Formal dinner and trophy presentations will be held at Lambert Estate, Long Gully Road, Angaston (Bus transport to and from venue will be provided free of charge details with event invitation). FRIDAY 14 SEPTEMBER 2018 Exhibitor tasting, 9am-12pm held at Peter Lehmann Wines, Para Road, Tanunda

4 BAROSSA WINE SHOW - REGULATIONS 1. All Classes are only open for competition to financial winemaker contributors to the 2018 Barossa Wine Industry Fund. All wines must be vintaged from grapes grown in Barossa (minimum of 85%). 2. There is NO limit to the number of entries per class. (a) Each bottle to contain 750 ml or equivalent 375 ml (b) Each exhibit to consist of: i. Table Wines - 6 bottles ii. Fortified Wines - 4 bottles iii. Wine of Provenance - 2 bottles (c) Exhibits to be packed in 6 pack cartons, displaying Class Number on outside of carton. (d) Any one wine can only be entered once in the show (excluding wines entered into a Wine of Provenance class). (e) Donations of successful exhibits (excluding Wine of Provenance) will be required for promotional activities only, to a maximum of 4 dozen. 3. Exhibits will be judged on the 100 point system. 4. An exhibitor may be awarded more than one award in any one class. 5. Entries must be made on the Association's electronic entry form. (a) Exhibitors must clearly state the class to be competed for, type/name of wine, vintage or approximate age where applicable, and in the case of table wines, the grape variety(ies). 6. No person will be allowed to inspect any entry form after reception by the Association, until the judges' awards have been made public. 7. After the close of entries, no person will be permitted access to the exhibits except the judges, stewards and staff until after the awards have been announced. 8. Exhibits are to bear the labels supplied by the Association for that purpose and must show: (a) Class Number (b) Exhibit Number (as supplied by the Association) (c) Year of Vintage or if blended, approximate age (d) Description/Variety where required (e) Exhibitor 9. Sparkling wines must be bottle or tank fermented. Carbonated wines are not eligible. (a) The minimum stock quantity held may be on tirage, but exhibits must be disgorged. (b) Crown seals are permitted. 10. Exhibits of blended wines must represent the prescribed quantity already blended. 11. Exhibits of blended fortified wines must represent the prescribed minimum average age. 12. A wine should be entered only into the class which best reflects the label. That is, a wine entered into a varietal class should be labelled as a single variety only. Wines that are described and presented as containing more than one variety should be entered into the appropriate Blends class. 13. All wines must conform to the Wine Australia Label Integrity Program inclusive of the latest amendments. Please see for updates

5 BAROSSA WINE SHOW - REGULATIONS cont In all classes, the stock as stated on the entry form may be inspected and checked by a representative of the Association, or its nominee. 15. All exhibits are the property of the Association. 16. Each exhibit must represent stock as set out on the entry form and be the bonafide property of that exhibitor. 17. All exhibits must be solely the produce of Australian grapes and not contravene any Act of the States and the Commonwealth of Australia, which governs the production of Australian Wine and Australian Brandy; these to include the Customs and Excise Act and Regulations, or any re-enactment of the above acts or any other act (ie. Australian Standards for Winemaking Practice). (a) The Association reserves the right to have any exhibit inspected and/or analysed by one or more persons appointed for the purpose. 18. An exhibitor breaking any regulations may be disqualified from any future Show or Shows. 19. The Barossa Grape & Wine Association reserves the right to disqualify from the Barossa Wine Show any person or persons disqualified from any other Wine Show during the period of such disqualification. (a) Should any such entry be accepted, it may, when discovered be deemed void and the entry fee and exhibit shall be forfeited. 20. All exhibitors shall accept the decision of the judges as to the merits of the exhibits. 21. Judges shall not at any time prior to the announcement of awards have any access or knowledge as to the identity of the exhibits. 22. No exhibitors shall advertise or allow to be advertised by any means whatsoever whether by broadcasting, pictorially or in writing, the fact that any exhibit has won any prize in the Barossa Wine Show unless such advertisement shows clearly: (a) Award (b) Year of Award (c) Description of class with vintage year where applicable &, (d) Type of wine. i. Any exhibitor making improper use of awards won at the Barossa Wine Show for advertising purposes may be disqualified from any future Show or Shows. 23. The definition of producer size is classified as an exhibitor crushing, for its own label purposes the below applicable tonnage of grapes during the 2018 vintage. Indication of Producer Size is to be included on the entry form: (a) Small Producer: tonnes (b) Medium Producer: tonnes (c) Large Producer: 801+ tonnes 24. Dry Red entries in the Premium Section are restricted to 2017 and older except Class 19 which is for 2018 vintaged wines. 25. Recalled faulty wines are at the discretion of the Chairman of Judges 26. Where appropriate, a trophy will be awarded to the exhibitor obtaining the highest number of points for a particular entry in any one class. 27. Gold medal wines only will be considered for trophies. If there are no gold medals awarded in a particular trophy section, then that trophy will not be awarded in that particular year. 28. A Best in Class award will be awarded to the exhibit obtaining the highest number of points where a trophy is not awarded. 29. The Best in Class exhibits from classes will be judged against one another to select the Best Fortified Wine Trophy

6 BAROSSA WINE SHOW - REGULATIONS cont The trophies for the Most Successful Exhibitors (Small, Medium and Large) will be awarded to the highest average score across all exhibits entered for exhibitors, with the below minimum judged entry number. This includes points for all judged entries, medal winning or otherwise. In the event of a tie, the exhibitor with the most gold medal wines will be deemed the winner. (a) Small Producer: 2 or more judged entries (b) Medium Producer: 3 or more judged entries (c) Large Producer: 5 or more judged entries 31. Fortified Wines in Classes will be judged as per the new Classifications for Australian Fortified Wine. 32. The trophy for the Most Outstanding Single Vineyard Trophy will be awarded to a table wine, Premium Classes (1-6 & 9-18, 20). The wine must comprise not less than 95% from that vineyard. (a) A Single vineyard defined as having a single continual boundary. Related class regulations apply. (b) To be eligible for the Most Outstanding Single Vineyard Trophy, Premium Classes, the wine must be nominated as being from a Single Vineyard on the entry form and minimum stock requirement of 50 dozen. (c) The Vigneron/Viticulturist will also be recognised for the trophy, and as such must be nominated on the entry form. i. Only the gold & trophy winning single vineyard wines from the Premium Classes will be judged for this trophy. ii. If a single vineyard wine has been awarded a trophy in its class, no other single vineyard gold medal wines from that class will be judged. iii. If the Most Outstanding Barossa White Wine, Premium Classes or Most Outstanding Barossa Red Wine, Premium Classes is a Single Vineyard Wine, then it will be awarded this trophy, as it has proven itself amongst its peers. 33. The Most Outstanding Barossa Table Wine, Premium Classes will be selected from the Most Outstanding Barossa White Wine Premium Classes (1-5) and The Most Outstanding Barossa Red Wine Premium Classes (9-18, 20)

7 2018 BAROSSA WINE SHOW - ENTRY GUIDELINES PREMIUM SECTION For wines, vintaged from grapes grown in the Barossa (minimum of 85%). Wines and their minimum quantity must come from a commercial bottling run, as of the closing date for the delivery of exhibits. Exhibits may retain commercial labels. Grape variety(ies) must be stated on the entry form. Dry Red entries are restricted to 2017 and older except class 19, where 2018 vintage reds are entered. There is NO limit to the number of entries per class. Quantity specifications classes 1 6 Small, Medium & Large Producers - 50 dozen Single Vineyard Wines 50 dozen Class 1 Dry Riesling, Vintage Dry Riesling, Vintage 2017 and older 3 Dry Semillon, (any vintage) 4 Dry Chardonnay, (any vintage) 5 Dry White Wine Other Varieties or Blends, not eligible in Classes 1-4, (any vintage) * Please state Variety % 6 Rosé, any style, any variety, (any vintage) Quantity specifications classes 7-8 Small, Medium & Large Producers - 50 dozen Class 7 Sweet White Table Wine, (any vintage), please indicate sugar level (g/l) on entry 8 Sparkling Wine, bottle or tank fermented, White, Rosé or Red (any vintage) - 7 -

8 2018 BAROSSA WINE SHOW - ENTRY GUIDELINES Quantity specifications classes 9-20 Small, Medium & Large Producers - 50 dozen Single Vineyard Wines 50 dozen PREMIUM SECTION cont Class 9 Dry Shiraz, Vintage Dry Shiraz, Vintage Dry Shiraz, Vintage 2015 & older 12 Dry Red Wine Blends Other Blends, other blended wines excluding wines eligible for classes 15 & 17, Vintage 2017 & older 13 Dry Cabernet Sauvignon, Vintage 2017 & Dry Cabernet Sauvignon, Vintage 2015 and older 15 Dry Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon blends, blends labelled as Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon or Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz only, Vintage 2017 and older 16 Dry Grenache, Vintage 2017 and older 17 Dry Grenache, Shiraz and/or Mourvedre dominant blends (where 85% must be a blend containing at least two (2) of these varieties), Vintage 2017 and older 18 Dry Red Wine Other Varieties, single varietal wines excluding wines eligible for classes, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, or 16. 10 WINES OF PROVENANCE SECTION To further recognise and celebrate the viticultural and winemaking strength of the Barossa s past, present and future, we are honoured to provide this opportunity for exhibitors to showcase three of its best vintages spanning a 15 year range. Judges will be assessing exhibits for style continuity, pedigree and representation of maturation potential. No minimum stock on hand quantity Wine A may be entered in the Premium Section, in accordance with regulation requirements. 2 x 750mL bottles per entry. Dry Red and Dry White Table Wines only. Wines entered into the Wine of Provenance classes are to be delivered directly to the Barossa Grape & Wine Association (1 John Street, Tanunda) during exhibit delivery week Monday 27 to Friday 31 August between 9am 5pm. White Wine of Provenance: o Class 27 (WINE A) = 2017 or 2018, must be commercially bottled at time of exhibit entry. o Class 28 (WINE B) = inclusive o Class 29 (WINE C) = 2003 or older Red Wine of Provenance: o Class 30 (WINE A) = 2015 or 2016, must be commercially bottled at time of exhibit entry. o Class 31 (WINE B) = inclusive o Class 32 (WINE C) = 2001 or older Please note that the second bottle will be returned to you if unopened
