Syrah, Merlot, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Mourvédre. BERGEVIN LANE Calico Red Wine Advocate 87 The building blocks of this blend are always Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. The remaining varietals are the spices to round and polish the wine. Envision a blueberry, a blackberry and a cherry in a cedar chest. This best describes the nose. Blackberry and ripe black cherry dominate the palate, while a light touch of vanilla bean and cocoa powder round things out. The finish is silky cocoa-cassis that fills the mouth and lasts and lasts. WHITEHAVEN Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2015 / "The Top Five Countries for Value" Wine Spectator Pear, peach and apricot flavors are spicy and smooth, with a juicy finish and plenty of intensity, finishing with notes of lemon. WOODWARD CANYON Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley Artist Series # Wine Spectator 91 Firm in texture, with a roasted red pepper edge to the dark berry and herb flavors, coming together on the harmonious finish. Has presence and length. Lambrusco This is the name of both a red wine grape and an Italian wine made principally from the grape. The most highly rated of its wines are the frothy, frizzante (slightly sparkling) red wines. Sweetness Levels is a dry style and is the typical style of Champagne with no sweetness. Extra Dry is still dry but with a hint of sweetness or slightly sweet. Some use the term Champagne as a generic term for sparkling wine, but in most countries it is illegal to officially label any product Champagne unless it both comes from the Champagne region in France and is produced under the rules of the appellation. The United States bans the use from all new U.S. produced wines. Only those that had approval to use the term on labels before 2006 may continue to use it and only when it is accompanied by the wine s actual origin (e.g. California ). The majority of US-produced sparkling wines do not use the term Champagne on their labels, and some states, such as Oregon, ban producers in their states from using the term. Sparkling Wine Sparkling wine is a wine with significant levels of carbon dioxide in it, making it fizzy. The classic example of sparkling wine is Champagne, which is exclusively produced in the Champagne region of France. Asti Spumante Asti is a sparkling white Italian wine, made from the Moscato Bianco grape. It is sweet and low in alcohol and often served with dessert. Asti is converted to sparkling through a process that is different from that of Champagne. Moscato d Asti is made in the same region from the same grape, but is only slightly sparkling (frizzante) and tends to have even lower alcohol. Prosecco This is an Italian white wine, made from the Glera (Prosecco) grape, but may also include, up to 15 percent, various other white grapes, including Chardonnay, Pinot Blanco and Pinot Grigio. Prosecco can be spumante (sparkling wine), frizzante (semi-sparkling wine) or tranquillo (still wine).
