Tuesday, August 30, 2016 Prepare and serve dinner at the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition
On the TEAM EABOR crew for today's 'first shift', (food prep and cooking), and looking stylish in their t-shirts and chefs hats, we have Pat Ottolini, Kathi Obendorfer, Linda Sherman, and Sharon Badrian.
This is the first time we will be working with Bill, the new chef at the Homeless Coalition. He has had plenty of experience in kitchens of local restaurants, and we are looking forward to his expert guidance today. We hope his partnership with TEAM EABOR for today's meal will be enjoyable for him. Everyone was advised to be on their best behavior!
Tonight's menu will be: Medallions of Pork, served with Apple Sauce, Green Beans, and Homemade Dressing. Mmm... A side salad and dessert will also be served to the diners. And so the preparation begins...
TEAM EABOR's Pat & Sharon were in charge of preparing and cooking the pork loins.
With a donated case of apples, and ample supply of bread, Bill decided to make the dressing from scratch. Above & left we see TEAM EABOR's Kathi Obendorfer and Linda Sherman slicing & dicing away. Some apples & onions were also added to the mustard-coated pork before cooking, which gave it a delicious flavor.
Linda looks on nervously as Kathi has such a BIG knife! But Kathi is all smiles... or is that an evil grin? Bill keeps an eye on everything, and makes sure there are no problems.
OK...so the pork is cooking...the dressing & vegetables are ready... salad & desserts are in the cooler...now just time for clean-up. Thank you Sharon, Pat, Linda & Kathi
Sharon had so much fun, she decided to stay to help serve! Fast forward a couple of hours to 4:30 p.m. and TEAM EABOR's 'second shift', (plating & serving), is reporting for duty. From left: Sharon Badrian, Lindsay Broschart, Katrina Moyer, Kathy Norton, Chad McKinney, Chanel Bird, & Aubrey Crow.
Actually, Sharon kindly came back to help, and cover for someone. Chef Bill meets the crew, and thinks they will be able to meet the task! From left: Sharon, Lindsay, Katrina, Bill, Kathy, Chad, Chanel, & Aubrey Phil Van Der Heyden, Co-Chair of the Community Outreach Committee, is seen 'center stage', with Katrina, Sharon, Lindsay, Chad, Kathy, & Aubrey. Co-Chair Deena Wolley arrived too late for photo.
Once the doors open at 5:00 p.m. the dining room fills quickly, so TEAM EABOR starts filling the plates. From left: Sharon Badrian, Deena Wolley, (arrived just in time), Kathy Norton, & Katrina Moyer.
Like a well-oiled machine, TEAM EABOR gets busy, and impresses everyone. Sharon, Deena, Kathy, & Katrina demonstrate teamwork... and in no time, a delicious meal is on its way to a hungry diner. BTW. It tastes as good as it looks!
Meanwhile, TEAM EABOR's awesome servers are ready to deliver. Top left: Chad 'loosens up' as Chanel looks on. Lower left: Lindsay & Chad Lower right: Chanel, Aubrey, & Lindsay
The food keeps coming... and the plates keep going...
...until everyone is fed. Seconds were offered, and there was some food left over, which the Chef will use creatively in lunch the next day. Nothing is ever wasted, and TEAM EABOR did another great, and rewarding, job! Thank you all!
A special thanks to the following TEAM EABOR volunteers: Kathi Obendorfer with RE/MAX Alliance Group. Linda Sherman with RE/MAX Anchor Realty. Aubrey Crow, Pat Ottolini & Sharon Badrian with Coldwell Banker Sunstar. Chad McKinney with Tall Pines Realty. Lindsay Broschart with Rowley Insurance. Katrina Moyer with Stanley Dean/State Farm. Chanel Bird and Kathy Norton. and EABOR Community Outreach Committee Co-Chairs Deena Wolley with Islander Properties & Phil Van Der Heyden with South Gulf Cove Realty.
